I enjoyed my time so much at lumiere. As someone who had no prevbious experience in research, I felt welcomed and accompanied throughout the whole program, both from my mentor and manager. Stronlgy reccomend if you want a high-level programthat will boost your resume!

My experience with the Lumiere Individual Research Program was excellent. The program is extremely well organized, which makes a huge difference when conducting an independent research project. From the beginning, you have a very clear understanding of what is expected of you and what you will be working on each week. This structure helps tremendously with maintaining focus and managing your time, and you never feel lost during the process. Another highlight is the level of support provided throughout the program. My mentor was incredible and offered thoughtful guidance that really strengthened my research. Beyond that, the program also provides support through the Writing Center and the Program Manager, so there is always someone available to help you move forward. In addition, Lumiere offers workshops that address common questions students may have but might not have had the chance to discuss during mentor meetings. Because of this, you never feel unsupported at any point in the journey. Overall, the project structure is impeccable and clearly very well thought out. The program truly helps students step up their research skills. Even though I already had significant research experience, I still found the program extremely valuable in refining my thinking, writing, and academic approach.

This program is such a great experience this program is so well run and they are so understanding they give so much scholarship money too so this program is accessible to everyone this is such an amazing program I definitely recommend it

I enjoyed writing the research paper with my mentor, Serene Ho, who aided me throughly with my research and how best to overcome certain challenging aspects of obtaining factual and accurate information.

My Lumiere experience has genuinely been one of the most transformative academic experiences I’ve had! What made it so special was definitely the mentorship behind the research. Working so closely with a mentor who took my ideas seriously, challenged my thinking, and held me to a high intellectual standard completely changed the way I approach research. I learned how to structure rigorous arguments and refine my writing in ways I had never done before. Lumiere gave me confidence. Having a mentor who believed in me, pushed me, and created a space where I felt comfortable thinking out loud and asking difficult questions made me grow not only as a student, but as a person. I looked forward to every meeting, and by the end, I felt not only proud of the paper we produced, but proud of how much I had developed. It made me more certain that research is something I want to pursue at the highest level. The mentors are amazing, genuinely. I know that right now, I have a role model to look up to, and that is my Lumiere mentor
