I had a great experience as a Lumiere Research Scholar in the Individual Research Program. The program’s well-structured format, with weekly goals and submissions, kept me accountable and on track with my research. The Lumiere staff team was also incredibly supportive and always quick to respond to any questions or emails, though response times understandably slow down during the final week of the program when many students are seeking last-minute feedback. Most importantly, Lumiere genuinely cares about providing the best support to its scholars, which is evident in their continuous efforts to ask for constructive feedback on how to improve their services, earning them a solid 5-star rating from me. I highly recommend the Lumiere Research Scholar Program to students seeking to conduct research with the support of a mentor. Coming from a low-income background should not hinder you from applying since they provide generous financial aid covering up to 100% of the tuition fees through their Lumiere Research Inclusion Foundation.

Lumiere education was very helpful with everything, really. They helped me through all the processes of research- giving me a great mentor and an amazing program manager. The experience was great overall and very enjoyable to do over the 13 weeks.

My experience with the Lumiere Research Scholar Program was one of the most academically transformative parts of my journey. I worked one-on-one with a oxford University mentor, where I conducted a full research project from ideation to final paper. I was challenged to think like a real scientist, designing research questions, reading university-level papers, building computational models, and receiving direct, line-by-line feedback on my writing and analysis. The mentorship was intense and personalized; every meeting pushed me to refine my thinking, justify my methods, and communicate my results with clarity. Through Lumiere, I learned how to structure a rigorous research paper, present my findings professionally, and approach complex problems with creativity and discipline. It gave me the confidence that I can perform at a true undergraduate research level, and it played a major role in shaping my motivation to pursue biology and computational science at a higher level.

Even though I experienced some setbacks with my first mentor, the program manager handled the situation fast. Outside of this issue, the program was great. I now feel confident in my research skills.

It made me truly feel like a scientist rather than just a student. This experience taught me how to make insightful research paper and how to search deeply in a specific topic. I also truly liked my mentor and the writing center. They really helped me in writing my research paper.

My experience with Lumiere began with immense fear and apprehension that I wouldn't be accepted, or even that I wouldn't perform well in the interview. This is because I'm naturally not the type of person who feels confident enough to speak and express myself to a stranger. After receiving the email confirming my application was accepted and that I was moving on to the interview stage, I started to hesitate about going. My fear and lack of self-confidence made me doubt myself. However, thanks to two friends who encouraged me until the very last moment, I persevered, did my best, prepared thoroughly, and let my heart and mind guide me. I was very relaxed and comfortable. I did the interview, and I won't deny that I was a little scared and nervous at first. My voice was a bit shaky, but I gradually got the hang of it and began answering confidently and comfortably. When I received the acceptance email, I was overjoyed. The first people I told were my two supportive friends and, of course, my family. From there... My real journey with Lumiere began with the first meeting, which was good too, but unfortunately, I was a little intimidated. However, with time, I started to get used to it and speak more comfortably, especially since my mentor, Nicole Regimbal, understood my situation and gave me time until I got used to it. And I did get used to it, and honestly, this mentor was one of the best people I could ever meet. She was incredibly patient and always willing to help, constantly giving me advice and following up with me step by step. She always made sure I didn't need anything and monitored my progress on the research paper. I truly considered her a very good friend because of her words, her help, and her tactful way of speaking. She always sent me research papers to read to expand my knowledge and also sent me PDFs of parts like the citation because I was having trouble with it. And also the writing coach, Nicholas, who is also very helpful... Whenever I encountered problems or gaps in certain points, I would write them in the submission email each time, and they would send me very, very useful workshops with quizzes at the end. Finally, I can say that my experience with Lumiere is one I can never repeat. It was enjoyable and beneficial, and I gained many skills, developed my scientific abilities, and my vocabulary became more advanced and scientific. I now always love to research everything I encounter, and I've mastered how to access information with a strong scientific basis and reliable sources. I advise any student truly interested in research to apply to Lumiere and embark on this wonderful experience.

I wholeheartedly believe that the organization between program managers and mentors was ideal, as well as the initiave to encourge students to share their perspectives on diverse topics in order to help people pay heed to current issues. Although it can sometimes be cumbersome, due to the fact that differing opinions may arise, this approach is valuable for promoting awareness and comprehension. My experience was good, but I had some trouble managing my schedule in view of an unforeseen situation from a valuable member of the program. Leaving aside that issue, everything else was truly outstanding-for instance, the crucial assistance form my mentor, program manager, and other members of Lumiere education, who help me not only with some issues I faced during my course, but also in external affairs.
