Untrustworthy
Things were going relatively fine until I received an email this morning from your contractor, Nations Valuation Services, briefly telling me that I owed them $300 more than the $480 they originally quoted and which I had already paid. The frosting on the cake was that they didn't have the professionalism to give any reason for the additional $300 charge. When I contacted NVS, I was told that they submitted a request to LoanFlight to bill the additional $300 and received authorization to do so. All this was done without contacting me. An explanation that I was given later from NVS was that the increase was due to my "mountain views" and high valuation of my property. First, I was advised by LoanFlight that NVS was provided with the estimated value of my property before they quoted me the original charge of $480 so if property valuation was the issue, they appear to have decided to try and fleece me incrementally. Secondly, my home has had the same views and same relative high value since it was built. I was never gouged during previous appraisals. While LoanFlight's employees were easy to work with, I hold LoanFlight responsible for the actions of their contractors. As a result I must give LoanFlight a failing grade. I won't do business with anyone I can't trust regardless of the savings I may realize. I therefore terminated my loan application with LoanFlight. Trust was always the issue, never money. Re: The "tolerance cure" that was never mentioned when I called LoanFlight to inquire about the increased charge. Furthermore the tolerance cure would have only reduced the appraisal cost to $600 vs the $780 that was being sought. It would have still been $120 higher than the $480 which I had paid in good faith to NVS which had all pertinent property info prior to initially billing me. By the way, I have it on good authority that mine was the SECOND loan LoanFlight lost within about a week due to NVS's shady practices. Again, I won't do business with people or companies I can't trust, and as long as LoanFlight contracts with NVS, I can't trust them.

We’re happy to clarify. By law we are required to issue a tolerance cure for the difference in appraisal cost at closing if it higher than what we disclosed on your initial disclosures. This is why an approval is not requested for the difference in appraisal cost. You would have automatically seen a tolerance cure (which is essentially a credit) on your final closing disclosures reflecting the difference. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed working with the LoanFlight team and would love the opportunity to refinance your home and earn your five star review for the work of our team, not third party entities that are required to complete the process. If you would like to continue please reach out to your loan team. It sounds like this all just transpired yesterday so we didn’t lose much time!
