We spend millions in cloud and compute spend for funded B2B SaaS products but Linode thought that we were suspicious and rejected our account AFTER asking for payment method. Luckily we use Mercury so we cancelled the card. Complete trash security and customer experience.

Put down card details to spin up a couple of staging boxes late last night, only for an automated fraud filter to bin the entire account half an hour later. The Nanode pricing is solid once you actually have access, but getting flagged and locked out before even touching a terminal is infuriating. Sorting basic verification shouldn't be this much friction.

I saw these guys had 2.4 stars and dont get why. There web ui is trash because they are like half merged with Akamai, but thier SCRIPTING api is sweet, completely on par with Digital Ocean. I mean, they basically are a worse looking Digital Ocean but like $1 a month cheaper on bottom tier VPS (a linode nano is the eqilivent of DO's smallest droplet). Sounds minor but * 3 boxes * 12 months thats $36 less for the SAME service. AND, ***linode gives you promo credits!*** So, if your just getting online - that be my first stop. If its like mission critical and you have more money than backups, then maybe go digital ocean, but if you got not much money, but plan to, and want to scale - id start here. The account lockout thing is real, hostinger totally fkd me, but linode hasnt and most thier bad reviews arent from lockouts, half arent even from customers but people made at thier customers. So, I like them. I didnt get the promo code because I didnt signed through a google link, emailed support, had it < an hour later.

My websites run fast and I haven't faced any major issues with uptime.

sends criminal phishing spam, would take a penny to inflict pain and misery and steal time from strangers online... everyone knows never ever ever trust linode

With all these negative reviews I've come to the conclusion that Linode must be the one to beat in the very competitive and often shady VPS hosting space. The acquisition of Linode by [the unpronounceable] Akamai a few years back made me nervous but not much as changed (and that's a good thing). The few times I've had to contact support they were helpful although the [in country] phone support offered by Linode before the acquisition was better. That is to say supports is now email only but in my limited experience it's responsive and fine. That telephone support has been dropped and prices have gone up is a bit annoying tho. My needs are simple, I just want straight-forward old school clean VPS with predictable pricing, everything else (per second AWS style pricing etc.) is BS IMHO for my needs. I suspect most of the negative reviews written by people flagged for fraudulent activity are probably written by people who in fact should have been flagged as such and now they're bombing trustpilot. Indeed, I came here peeved about a recent cryptic email form Linode about upcoming changes to DNS resolvers but after reading all the negative reviews (and checking out who those negative reviewers recommend) I'm thinking that Linode is still the common sense solution for my very basic needs. Also, perhaps just coincidentally, I had some issues last year with emails form my server suddenly getting blocked (no DEMARC) which cleared up a several months ago - it has me thinking perhaps these negative reviews are the price to be paid for running a clean operation? Not sure. Anyway, as an established pre-Akamai customer with regards to all the people getting flagged for suspicious activity all I can say to Akamai is: better safe than sorry and the negative reviews don't represent any concern of mine and in fact have convinced me to stick around a bit longer.

These guys are complete idiots! I use the same data ( including my credit card & company data for years with AWS, Digital Ocean, Vultr, Cloudways, WPEngine, the entire Laravel ecosystem ( Forge, Cloud, Nightwatch, etc ), Hetzner ( with verifications of my ID and my company ). We have a large number of services that we offer to a variety of clients and never has any issues with anybody in the past. Not even once. I can, of course, get a VPS from this "Linode BS" using Cloudways or other services but just wanted to test the service and after taking my credit card & company info, I get this email: Your recently created account has been denied activation due to activity or patterns associated with fraudulent behavior. Additional attempts to sign up may also be rejected. The Akamai Compute Team Now I need to go to the bank and change that card. Smells like scammers to me. Please take care of your work. This is rude & uncalled for. Practically the definition of an bunch of stupid idiots!
