I bought relatively high-priced LED bulbs for tracking lightiing 18-24 months ago. I thought I was buying high quality products, and they claim to last 35,000 hours, so I thought it was worth the premium price. However, they only warranty bulbs for 12 months, and since 75% of my bulbs have failed between 18-24 months, they aren't interested in my business. These lights get used once a day for 10 minutes on a typical day, and used all day for maybe 30 days, so that is under 1,000 hours, so they should have plenty of life left in them. Customer support thought they were pretty old, and thought it was unreasonable that I thought they should last this long. I think they must not be able to do math, since the claimed 35,000 hour lifetime would mean they should be expected to run for 4 years at 24 hours a day....

I purchased a $622 fan which could not be assembled as described. Company agreed to accept return, and received the return with RMA number as required. The company however failed to credit my account. When I called 2 weeks later, they apologized and explained that they failed to link the return to my account, but assured me that the refund would follow shortly. After another 2 weeks and no refund, I called again and this time they blamed their computer for "kicking out the refund" on their system. I am assured that the refund will be issued, but it has taken 3-4 phone calls and undue time to track this. I would be careful to only buy if you are confident that you will not need to return any items. Amazon sells similar items and has trouble free return policy mostly.

Maybe they think they are too large to fail. After having an issue with a delivery I could not find assistance. They have thousands of items that do not belong to them. All from other companies. Just a large drop shipper. The employees do not care. I will stick with smaller companies where I can speak to an owner if needed and where employees care.

Buying online from this company is the very last thing you should do as a customer, and I learned the hard way. I purchased an inexpensive ($136.00) light that was damaged due to UPS. LD.com told me it was my problem to work out with UPS. Now, if my credit card company had not paid their bill... that would be my problem, too. They take NO responsibility for customer care. UPS said they would refund the SELLER, not me, for the damaged product. I am out of $136.00 and will not ever see that money back. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!

This review is for the business practices at LightingDirect.com/Build.com. I originally was going to review the Maxim undercabinet lights I bought from them at 4 stars, only because the girl I spoke to there actually knew what she was talking about, unlike my other experiences, but after they badgered me to write a review they had the nerve to actually REJECT my positive review - just like other customer's noted below, so it is important for people to know they are sneaky and only post 5 star reviews. Note to company: Don't solicit reviews if you don't want them and waste my time. BTW - here is a copy of their response and my original review so the public at large can see for themselves. Their response: "Lesley, Our staff has read your review and values your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time! " My original review: Good direct-wire kitchen lights - I've had these in for several weeks now and overall I am satisfied with them. They were a little more "blue" than the lights from Lowe's I was trying to match so you can tell a slight difference but they offered the flexibility in sizing for smaller cabinets I couldn't get elsewhere. This was the first company that actually knew the products they were selliing (seller AND manufacturer) and understood that direct wire means no junction boxes or other electrical boxes inside the cabinet!) My electrician was happy to see they could be directly wired with no complications. One of the lights did flicker a bit, which is a small defect in the light itself but since it was already installed by the electrician and it doesn't always do it I decided to leave it alone. This, and the color, is why I don't give it 5 stars. Order number 61246126 7/31/14

Remove problem has been resolved

I recently purchased a chandelier from Lighting Direct. When it arrived I installed it and when I tested it ,it did not work. I took it all down again and took it apart to find that nine runs of lamp cord were all tied together with a single wire nut. The wire was in a section that twisted as you installed it and all the loosely bound wires in this mess made in China had pulled out. I disposed of the $.01 wire nuts and connect the wires properly and safely (the loose wires had shorted during my initial test) and re-installed the whole light again. I was asked to write a review for lighting direct and I obliged by printing the experiences I just relayed and providing a bad rating for this product. After a few "we're sorry" and nothing more, I discovered they had not posted my review. When I asked they claimed an independent party chose what to post and they had no control. It was plainly apparent they did not want bad reviews posted, so they could continue to sell this defective product to other unsuspecting people. Avoid lighting Direct and the light manufacturer Golden Lighting.
