Worst gym ever

They are one of the most unscrupulous companies I've ever done business with. Their policies are all as customer unfriendly as possible, as if they were designed that way. They only care about squeezing money out of you and every policy reflects it. For example, if you make ANY change to your membership, they instantly increase your membership to whatever the highest level is at that time. While their facilities are great, they are among the slimiest companies in the world!

As a long-time member paying nearly $600/month, I expected a professional and courteous experience—it was far from that. The front desk was unfriendly, pool staff were annoyed by simple requests, and I saw a child forced to walk back down slide stairs because of arbitrary timing rules. When I requested to keep my same rate while transitioning to dropping family members from my account (after a poor pool experience), the response lacked empathy and instead reminded me I’d receive automated emails I could “unsubscribe” from—tone-deaf isn’t enough to describe that dismissal. I had planned to recommend Life Time to colleagues and even promote it within my company. That’s no longer the case. I’ll be sharing this experience publicly and with anyone in my network who might be considering a membership.

Details: We brought our family with children to the swim area to celebrate a special occasion and another gym patron arrived wearing a thong and otherwise extremely revealing bikini (in the KID AREA at that) of the pool, and the facility and management did not uphold swim wear guidelines. She was not asked to leave so my family had to leave because that is not something you want to see when you’re out with your family trying to have a good time. Highly unprofessionally handled. We won’t be back. Keep catering to that crowd and that’s the crowd you’re going to get. The culture is found lacking.

The gym is discriminating against me for having autism and refuses to confirm their discrimination in writing and denies now some of what they said to me. I am told I can't use the hot tub or play ball if the two people who were harassing me come before me because I have autism, and the gym knows they have an earlier schedule so I can't use the facilities. I have done nothing wrong and am denied equal access to amenities I paid for which is breaking federal law. I requested an accommodation to use the facilities at my schedule and was denied, yet this is asking to do what I should be already permitted to do. I offered for the gym to talk with my health care provider, but they said "they don't want to know about my autism." I have filed a discrimination complaint against Lifetime Fitness in Mount Lauren NJ. If they throw me out for using the amenities I pay for and the situation, I will have something substantial to add to my complaints. It is impossible to get fit while I am being threatened and discriminated against by the gym while I am being harassed by two members who do not like me because I have autism.
