Still waiting on claims to be paid from 2021!
Do not get Liberty.

Georgia, we value your feedback and thank you for speaking with us yesterday. We are working diligently to share into our members' eligible pre-2022 medical expenses in a timely manner. Our SharePower reflects the financial commitment of our members, which is why we are unable to promise a timeline for sharing. The amount of SharePower we can allocate to the backlog is dependent on the implementation of our current changes, as well as the amount of expenses submitted for sharing.

Fed up with Liberty Health Share
I have been with Liberty since 2015 and it started out a great company. It is now a mess! I have been sharing since 2015 and out of all those years I have had minor surgeries and recently a rotator cuff repair. I am now 65 and will be using my Medicare. I called and have tried to cancel and am getting the run around. They said I had to go to website then it says send a letter canceling by 20th of month prior to former month. I was told I go to my Healthshare page and cancel didn't happen goes straight back to send by mail. After having PT for 2 months which I have had to pay for my appts. over a 1000.00 now they said when I cancel I may only get 350.00 back and it could be months. I had to stop my auto draft payments to keep them from pulling out of my acct. and that's another nightmare story. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get away from this completely! Hoping for some suggestions...

Becki,
We are saddened to hear that this has been so difficult. Cancellation does need to be in writing, but it can be sent in via email to [email protected]. The letter needs to include your name, membership ID number, cancellation reason and the date you would like your membership to end. This must be received by the 25th of the month before your cancellation date. For example: to cancel effective August 1, 2023 we would need to receive your notice by July 25, 2023. We want to assign someone to help you but cannot find your membership with only your first name. Please call us at (855) 585-4237 and tell the agent you want to be walked through the process while on the call with us, we would be more than willing to assist you to the best of our ability. Thank you for letting us be of service to you all these years and for being a valued member of our caring sharing community.

SOOO Dissapointed
I am SOO disappointed in Liberty! They have really gone downhill. When I first Joined in 2018, bills and reimbursements were paid anywhere from 45 to 180 days. sadly, this is no longer the case!! In March 2021, my 14 month old had a medical emergency and was hospitalized! Scariest 4 days of our life. The ER, hospital , ambulance, & doctors, all billed liberty directly....Liberty processed the bills, applied my AUA and submitted them for sharing. Almost TWO years later a hospital bill for $5,400 that is Liberty's share was still NOT PAID. In February 2023 I received a collections letter for this! throughout the past year I have called Liberty so many times on this bill and I'm told the same thing. The bill has been processed, just waiting for the check to be sent out, but they have no idea when that will be. In order to get out of collections, I paid the $5,400 myself and have submitted it back to liberty for reimbursement which I am still waiting for!! Its very discouraging when people faithfully pay their monthly contribution to Liberty and Liberty is unable to be faithful back...I am a good steward of my money and work very hard to uphold good credit. Liberty must have horrible management! It is ironic that the one thing the company is set up to do-share into people's medical costs, is the one thing they are unable to do! There needs to be accountability on Liberty's end as to when the bills will be paid.

We appreciate your review. We have been very transparent with our members about our pre-2022 backlog. We have been doing all we can to address the backlog quickly and efficiently. We are completely reliant on members making their voluntary monthly contributions. As a non-profit ministry, we are constrained by finite resources as members can begin or end their participation in this ministry at any time. Our strategies have enabled us to reduce the backlog by more than 40% to date while sharing eligible medical expenses in 120 days or less. If you would like to discuss this further, please reach out to us at 855-585-4237.

Claims not being paid!
My wife and I started in 2016 after a friend of mine told me about it. They started like gangbusters, they paid claims in 45 days which I thought was great. Then after changing CFO's the new guy decided to pay claims around 180 days, which wasn't good for us, or our providers. Our providers started asking for money upfront because of the changes the new CFO made, our providers also started dropping Liberty Health share because they weren't getting paid. I had a shoulder injury, it was bone on bone, I needed to have my shoulder replaced. I paid my 50% upfront payment, Liberty Health share made agreements with my Orthopedic doctor, and the Hospital which they had to do before I could have my surgery. My surgery happened on August 6th, 2021 Liberty Health share still haven't paid what they agreed to pay. We had already met our deductible for 2021, so my shoulder replacement was fully covered. They have the same story every time you call in, they are working on the backlog but they can't give you any time frame when they will pay their share. It's not right for providers to wait to be paid, they have a business to run also. It's not right for policy holders to pay all the bill upfront, and wait to hopefully 2 years or more to be reimbursed. We get collection notices, phone calls all the time, I can't tell you how many times and dates of those calls, how many times I've called Liberty to get this handled, same old story for 2 straight years. They tell you they are working on the backlog, but they are also paying claims from 2022 and 2023. Maybe they should pay all the backlog first, then worry about the newer claims. So much for being a Christian based organization.

Changes were needed and the guidelines have been adjusted for the better of the whole healthsharing community. LHS has been transparent about the backlog to members and providers. With a percentage of the share power going directly to the backlog to help reduce it, reduction is moving at 1% to 3% each month. Currently LHS has reduced the backlog by 38%. The strategy is intentional and LHS is committed to methodically addressing all outstanding eligible expenses.

company lacks integrity
i loved liberty when i first joined them- they were honest and supportive of health and well being. over the years they devolved so much i finally left them and got regular health coverage.
they were taking a year to reimburse expenses, questioning everything. taking forever to respond. their agents seemed stressed and overworked. then all the news came out about the owner of the company filtering money out to buy homes and expand their own wealth- but not actually pay to keep the company in good standing. that is the point at which i left.
when i closed my account after being with them for years they just dropped off. there were still refund checks i should have received NOT A PEEP FROM THEM.
the amount of hours i spent on the phone with them to follow up on things was like a part time job. not worth it.

LHS has not been without its struggles, but we will prevail. Backlog is one of those struggles. Simply put, more bills than there is contributions. But this is getting better. A percentage of the share power is going directly to the backlog to help reduce it. It is moving between 1 and 3 percent each month and currently we have conquered 38% of the backlog. The strategy is intentional and LHS is committed to methodically addressing all outstanding eligible expenses. Our vision, mission and values are made possible by our members.

Disappointment all around.
I really wish I could write a better review for this share program. But for several years now they have not been a good steward of the shared monies. The price of member sharing went up astronomically and things were not getting paid. We recently decided to change to a different share company because our daughter was born with Down Syndrome in December. She, needing some interventions now and in the future, we did not feel comfortable going forward with Liberty because of the lack of stewardship over the past several years. We needed something we could rely on now raising a child with disability. We paid for our membership though January after she was born on December 16th, as the new company would not allow us to enroll until January. Because we were two weeks shy of the 60 days, Liberty will not honor the 7 years we paid into sharing, this after mismanagement of our monies for several years. We tried our hand at appeals and reached out to the CEO, they told us congratulations, and denied our appeal. Now we are stuck with over $19,000 of bills from her birth. We should have extended another month as they required the 60 days after service. we should have paid better attention, however having a child born with Down syndrome was a huge change in our lives emotionally and it slipped through the cracks. It was literally two weeks shy of 60 days! We will take ownership of this. However, It was beyond disheartening to have been told it was not fair to the other paying members now, but for years our monies were mismanaged and that our plea for help was not considered. We had doctors calling us for bills that hadn’t been paid for months and months because the office was told “they were behind” by Liberty. Those bills were not even paid by the time we severed ties in January and now we will have to pay those bill too! As a Christian company I’m disappointed, and frankly saddened. I don’t write this review because I think it will change anything but because I want others to consider carefully what sharing company you chose. We chose it Initially because it was affordable and they aligned with our Christian values. My husband is self employed and we could not afford much else by way of coverage so it made sense. Unfortunately, just because something is a Christian organization does not make it good. The idea is wonderful and if managed properly, could be great! But this was not the case here. I sincerely hope this does not happen to anyone else. I hope and pray liberty will get their act together so others don’t end up with medical debt like we have now and collectors calling them.

Thank you for being such a long-standing member and reaching out to us about your family's medical bills. As a Christian ministry we offer health-conscious individuals and families an affordable way to share medical care expenses in a like-minded community. Liberty HealthShare is not insurance. We are a Christian membership-based, non-profit organization where we help facilitate the voluntary sharing between members to pay each other’s medical costs.
We have been very transparent with our members regarding our pre-2022 backlog and our strategy to address it. To date, we have reduced the backlog by 38%.
In October 2021, we notified our members of changes to our Sharing Guidelines that would take effect on December 1, 2021. One of those changes was our guideline: “Eligibility for Sharing Limited to Active Sharing Members in Good Standing.” This ensures that only active members share eligible medical expenses. We understand your frustration with the change, but it was best for the healthshare community.

This is EVEN MORE AMAZING than my last complaint!
This is even MORE Amazing!!! Their CEO of actually sent me a letter addressing their "Backlog...how it developed and then makes a whole 9 paragraphs of the same stuff we have been hearing for over 5 years about how they are going to "reduce the backlog"! This (like every "person" that believes in "endowment funding") is now saying that "Unfortunately, the timeline for when we share into an individual bill in the backlog truly is unknown. We are constrained by what is contributed to SHAREPOWER and how many bills are submitted each month"! So if this is the case...WHY SO MUCH BACKLOG and moreso...WHY ARE YOU USING MY Share TO ADVERTISE ON SO MANY RADIO STATIONS????? And of course after all of his BULLCRAP...here is how he signs off..."I pray that God richly blesses you and your family and ask that you continue to pray for our ministry...In His Love and service"
So does this sound like somebody that is actually going to pay "Backlog Bills"? Or does it sound like an "Endowment Program"? Dorsey...address the question directly... How did this HUGE amount of BACKLOG occur and WHY was it NOT COMMUNICATED to the paying members that are SUFFERING from this NONSENSE EARLIER???? Your explanation addresses the "sharing versus Payouts" but like a politician....you skate around specifically addressing a timeline! I actually just got a bill that was submitted many months ago. Because two doctors submitted exact same amount...only one was paid because nobody looked closely enough at the bill to see that there were two different providers!
Feel free to reach out to me again Dorsey.

Dear Mr. Radde,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. Liberty HealthShare is a non-profit healthcare sharing ministry, where we facilitate the sharing of reasonably priced medical expenses between fellow members. The program is based on shared ethical beliefs, a religious tradition of mutual aid, neighborly assistance, and financial sharing. As a previous sharing member since 2018, you are aware that the backlog has not always existed, and we have been very transparent about receiving more in expenses than contributions over the course of the past couple of years prior to 2022. We have also been transparent on our plans to address the backlog and have updated members monthly on our progress. Every month we send monthly updates and newsletters accessible to active sharing members with detailed information on SharePower, shared expenses, our current metrics and of course any action addressing our pre-2022 backlog. We have already reduced the backlog by about 34% and continue to share into these expenses monthly. While we cannot divulge specific information on this forum, we would be more than happy to address your concerns directly. Please reach out to our Member Resolution Team at 855-585-4237.

We had the plan for 2 years
We had the plan for 2 years. No place takes it and when you submit bills, they wait a year to pay them while the healthcare company continues to call you. Terrible business and even tricked us with the last payment becuase you need to give 30 days notice.
Response from Liberty HealthShareFeb 24, 2023
Hi Declan,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We currently have a backlog of expenses that is resulting in longer sharing timeframes. We would appreciate the opportunity to resolve any issue you are having with our service and will put you in contact with someone from our Resolution Team that can help.
We appreciate your continued patience.
