Absolute scam of a plan. Lazy, irresponsible attorneys don't return calls or emails. Everyone except one I had to chase down. The ones I spoke to said they weren't interested because they don't get paid enough. Unless its involves zero work they won't touch it. Not even simple wills or trust, traffic tickets and most of all my ID theft with debt that wasn't mine! Was not able to get one attorney to assist with any of it. So I went to consumer attorneys dot com. Had to hire an attorney to do the will and trust for $750... I have never been so angry and disappointed with a service in my life, completely useless.

I'm a veteran who subscribed to this plan under the Federal Employee program. It sounds legit and functional, but in practice it is practically useless and borderline fraudulent. The attorney listing in my area (southern CA) was outdated with many of the listed legal firms out of business, out of the area (northern CA), or did not provide the practice area I needed even though listed in the Legal Plan attorney listing. In the FINE print, this plan does not allow you to cancel until the duration of the plan's coverage providing the Florida-based underwriter/administrator to suck premium payments out of your bank account. Also, your not able to directly speak with a live agent by phone, but only through chat with the agent's name not fully available (e.g., Linda G.). To end this plan supposedly they are to send you a renewal notice but that never arrived. Would advise to stay away from this MetLife plan.

Based on my experience with MetLife Legal Plans, most of the attorneys listed either no longer work for the firm or do not accept the plan. I spent over a year, from October 2024 to November 2025, searching for help, repeatedly calling and checking every updated attorney list they provided. Ultimately, I found only one attorney who still worked with MetLife Plans, but they were fully booked and unable to accept new clients.

After paying out $1000.00 in fees to them, they've failed to provide me with legal representation on 2 occasions. They either aren't taking new clients or their intake is so far out that it won't work. I'm assuming this is just a giant scam where the attorneys they hire don't get paid much and try everything to get out of actually doing any work under the plan. Save your money and put a retainer down on a real attorney. They must only have ambulance chasers.

I find it funny on all of the nagitive reviews on here about Metlife. These people more than likely didn't read their plan and tried to get an attorney to do something that wasn't in the plan. Ive uses metlife to file for bankruptcy, property line disputes and debt collections and have had all good experiences. The plan has high level attorneys like Juris Doctors and so on. I highly recommend this plan. If you dont use it, keep it because you never know when you will need an attorney.

I contacted two attorneys on the approved list, one never returned my messages. The second attorney had his legal aid contact us, but it took them two months to get back to us regarding whether they could add a spouse's name to the property. The answer was no. In addition, they took two months to get back on a simple will and living trust. No thanks! You can save your money as this plan isn't what is promised.

I’ve found this service to be completely ineffective. Every time I try to secure an attorney whether for probate assistance, or small claims court… I’m told they can’t take my case, or I never receive a response at all. Despite paying for this plan, I’ve gotten nothing in return. They’re quick to collect my money but slow (or unwilling) to provide actual help. Unless something changes drastically, I will be canceling my plan at the start of the new year.

MET.LIFE LEGAL PLAN is an absolute scam. This is blatant fraud at its worst. Legal Definition: "The act of deceiving, usually to gain something of value, often money." As a longtime customer of MetLife, I was shocked and disappointed the first time I attempted to use their Legal service. I live in a part of north Florida, which has law schools and is overpopulated with lawyers. NONE of them were available through MetLife Legal. No one participates and no one is interested. Attorneys will only, briefly speak to you via a telephone conversation and then charge MetLife for a consultation. I visited an approved attorney in a nearby town for a consultation and was then immediately denied a simple consultation reimbursement. I signed up for the so-called premium plan. By the way, you will continue to be billed for one year despite cancelling. Block billing payments and report this rip-off scheme.
