Be careful!
Update May 15: Dear Mark, you’re not confused. I submitted proof of purchase to Trustpilot, and they’ve reinstated my review. You’re free to question publically whether I’m a real customer—but the evidence says otherwise. May 5, 2025: I shared evidence with Trustpilot to support my claim. LaunchBoom often tries to get negative reviews removed or issue refunds, but the damage is already done—and campaigns have failed. Be warned: the chances are high that your project will -fail too, just like most of theirs. ------- We hired Launchboom in March 2025 this year, after a first intake call 3 years ago, follow-up by their team for this time with sales emails, and following their monthly “success stories newsletters”. Exactly by being with them for such a time before pulling the trigger, I noticed a few things. In doubt, but still believing their service is the best out there, I signed up. Here is a rant of personal experience. The not so bad, but you have to know: 1. They do not offer a full service but a glorified course. You pay a lot of money to access videos and other materials you can find out there for free. This is not made 100 % clear when you get in touch with their sales team. 2. You have to do all the work. This is not a service, but a course with guidance with online videos. You do not have a team doing the work. This is still your responsibility. You pay a lot for a course. 3. They claim to be working only with selected projects, but it became quickly apparent that they take on everyone who pay them. A tactic I understand, but it’s not fully correct and fair. The bad: 5. When you follow their success stories and very selected reviews, you would believe that everything they touch is a success. Like several other reviewers pointed out, it’s not. About 60 % of the projects working with Launchboom fail. I can verify this number purely by checking how many other creators failed. Some even speak of 70 %. That’s a large number for an expensive course. This only becomes apparent when working with them, and getting in touch with other customers following their course. Most of the Launchboom customers fail. 6. It’s not that it’s a bad course. But simply that a course can only do that much. As they sell to everyone they can and do not properly validate, you end up with a large ad spend and loss in both their course fee and ads you paid for. But they don’t tell you this. They talk about their massive success stories. Most of them though, would have done it without their course as well. If you check them out, most have marketing teams and +$100,000 to 200,000 in ad spend! - Launchboom suggested us that we needed at least $20,000 – $25,000 in ad spend. But this is not even the truth. Most of their projects spend much, much more, and barely make a profit. Also this information only comes out when you signed up with them, pay a hefty fee, and get to know other creators. What else, besides the 60 – 70 % failure rate? 7. They abuse the review system. I signed up with them as I found mostly good reviews. And this made me dreaming. But after a while, you notice that Launchboom uses a tactic to bring in positive reviews from the few successful projects they run (mind you, successful does not mean profitable), by offering incentives and discounts to those who review. Again, I noticed this first-hand in our Launchboom group from the few creators who were successful. 8. When you look closer, most comments on negative reviews online, and it’s a growing group, have the same people commenting on how amazing Launchboom is. It's not only the incentive... a lot of their reviews also come in waves. Even for projects which are from a year ago. Back to my project; we barely hit our goal. If I deduct the Launchboom cost for their course, the $28,000 in ad spend, hiring a copywriter $1,250, designer $3,000 and video team 7,499, and 5 % + fee for Kickstarter, I’m in a loss of $22,000. They call my project a success. On which planet? I hope this can serve as a warning. It’s not that they are scamming you outright. They are just very creative with the truth and smart to flood the internet with some of their course materials, articles and an incentive for reviews. Because of this, most of the creators, between 60 – 70 %, fail their project by looking up at the large projects Launchboom presents and repeats as case studies over and over. I’m available to share proof and posted my review on the Launchboom complaints forum as well. There are currently over 120 complaints and stories such as mine. Be warned. When it looks to good to be true, it often is. In this case, it's especially an expensive lesson and for most of their customers, the end of a successful crowdfunding campaign.
Response from LaunchBoomApr 29, 2025
-- updated reply 5/15/25 -- I'm a bit confused because you said "I’m available to share proof" but when I asked for proof using Trustpilot's Request Information tool, you ignored it. I also never received any email ([email protected]). The reason why I question this review is because we don't have any client named Eric C. who signed up in March of 2025 and is from Liechtenstein like your profile says. We aren't perfect and have a few other critical reviews that I'm completely fine with, but that's because they verified who they were. I don't think it's too much to expect a reviewer to provide basic proof, especially when they are making big claims. -- updated reply 5/2/25 -- Hey Eric, We used the "request information" feature in Trustpilot which gave you 3 days to provide proof. We didn't receive any documents from you. If that was by mistake you can still email me at [email protected]. Until then, it's impossible to know if this was a genuine experience. -- original reply 4/29/25 -- Hey Eric, If you're up for it, I'd love to chat on a call. Here's my email [email protected] Secondly, I talked to my team and looked through our CRM and we're not sure which project you are a part of based on the info in this review. You said you can provide proof so I requested information through Trustpilot. Once you send me that, I can update my response so everyone knows the review is legitimate. Lastly, I want to clear up a few misunderstandings: 1. We don't take on anyone that will pay us. Hundreds of people reach out every month and we only work with ~10% of them. We even have negative reviews from people that weren't happy when we told them we didn't think we'd be the best partner. Getting negative reviews for not taking someone on is a pretty clear indicator that we are willing to say "no" to people that want to give us money. 2. There isn't a 60% failure rate of campaigns who have worked with us. If we're looking purely at campaigns who hit their goal, the success rate of our campaigns is ~98% in 2024. Now I understand that hitting your Kickstarter goal doesn't necessarily mean the campaign was a "success." We have worked with campaigns that hit their external goal but didn't reach their internal goal. Some would consider that a failure, while others not. So when you say "60% fail" it's important for you to define what "failure" is because your definition may be different than others. 3. We do not offer incentives or discounts to people to review us. I encourage everyone to read the other reviews we have here. The name of the project is always included so anyone can reach out to the creator and verify. Please reach out and ask if they received any incentive to do so. Or if you want to reach out to me personally ([email protected]), we can jump on a call and I can answer any question you have. 4. Most successful clients do NOT have $100-$200K ad budgets and marketing teams. Most are small teams (1-3 ppl) and are spending much less than $100K. It's only the campaigns that are raising in the upper 6-figures and 7-figures that will likely go over $100K for ad spend, but only if their ROAS is strong. Again, because you're willing to share proof, it'd be great for you to provide that via Trustpilot. Also, reach out to me at [email protected] and we can chat on a call. Best, Mark | CEO
