Overall it was a positive experience. The tools and videos provided the guidance we needed as first-time developers to make sure we were on the right track. They also provided useful and crucial feedback to certain aspect of our campaign that lead to our success.
The only complaint I have is that while they always responded same day, it was almost always at the end of day regardless of when I asked my question. With me on Eastern time and them on Pacific, it led to some frustrating waits when I needed a quicker answer. Also, while the video responses were sometimes useful, they didn't always get to the heart of the question or lead to a follow-up that would then require another whole day to get a response. I really would have liked an option to have a quick call option so issues can be handled in one interaction.

Very talented and very knowledgable
Very talented and very knowledgable, everyone involved on our campaign was great to work with. Important to keep in mind that Launchboom works as a consultant and does not do any of the heavy lifting, so it is important that you have someone on staff or hire a management firm to implement their recommendations.

I recently partnered with LaunchBoom…
I recently partnered with LaunchBoom for our crowdfunding campaign. Their expertise shone through in their pre-launch marketing efforts, which effectively built a solid early backer base. The communication from their team was consistently clear and helpful, providing frequent updates and insightful advice.
Overall, I recommend LaunchBoom to anyone looking for detailed support in their crowdfunding!

The Ultimate Consultants for Fuel Injecting Your Kickstarter Journey
As a biz owner with 30+ years under my belt as a professional marketer and branding consultant, I have found it very rewarding and enlightening to go through the LaunchBoom process for our first couple of board game crowdfunding projects.
Lots of marketers out there claim they know how to build a bulletproof crowdfunding product development strategy; but few know how to put it all together in an effective, streamlined way. I really like how LaunchBoom has made the entire concept-to-market process so plug-and-play while balancing fundamental marketing principles with execution. Their training materials are thorough and well-organized. And when we've had questions, their responsiveness and attention to detail is extremely helpful.
LaunchBoom does their very best to keep their training materials in lock step with the constantly evolving 3rd party platforms that are integrated into their workflow. This is no easy task, as training videos and checklists need to be constantly updated. Very sporadically, a process may change and create a speed bump for clients; but LaunchBoom is quick to catch up, make updates, and notify us of the latest best practices and their impact on their process.
I highly recommend LaunchBoom as a partner if you want to learn how to navigate the road to a successful crowdfunding journey for your next game!

A Must for Beginners
The following is a review of my experience working with their Board Game Crowdfunding Package.
There is a lot that goes into putting together a crowdfunding campaign, and if you are starting from scratch, I would be hard-pressed to find a better place to direct you towards than LaunchBoom. It is very much akin to a top-notch crowdfunding bootcamp. This program will save you more than your initial investment by helping you navigate around pitfalls alone.
If you have successfully funded campaigns in the past, as I have, then you may or may not find value here. There is no revolutionary insight to be found that isn't already in the Crowdfunded book. However, there are some useful tools and integrations in the LaunchKit platform that help in refining your messaging and gauging market interest.
PROS
- Well-organized information
- Active community of board game publishers
- Helpful and encouraging staff
- Direct line to Kickstarter to ensure you are a "Project They Love"
CONS
- None at all if you are just breaking into the space and looking to start your first crowdfunding project.

Yes, BUT it's expensive
I couldn't decide between 3 and 4 stars.
Ultimately I had an incredibly successful campaign all due to LaunchBoom. I sold 1,787 units raising over $190,000, which I am certain I would not have achieved without them. The LaunchBoom virtual classes are easy to follow and straightforward. The LaunchBoom team members (they offer regular office hours) are extremely knowledgeable and wonderful to work with.
I dock a star or two because of their lack of transparency. I asked numerous times, both in person and over email for a general sense of budget, which I was never provided. It became clear why this was - it is WAY more expensive to get the type of results you want than they lead you to believe. All in I probably spent ~$40k on my campaign (and I had really good acquisition numbers).
They also have partnerships with other agencies that they are not transparent about and ultimately once your campaign is launched the incentives become unaligned. Keep your eyes out if/when they recommend working with Jellop.
Would I work with LaunchBoom again? Yes, probably. But I found their lack of transparency manipulative.

Hey Emily,
We appreciate the feedback!
The team is very grateful to have worked with you and proud of the work done on your Rise Centered campaign.
We'd love more clarity about the lack of transparency regarding budget (I sent you a message about this two days ago and am still waiting for a response).
I looked back through emails and talked to the team and have gathered this sequence of events:
1. You started ads on May 8th and asked "I was also curious if you could share with me a budget estimation for the completion of this course, through the end of the Kickstarter. I am hoping to dial in my budget and get a sense of if I will need additional initial funding for this project." via email
2. Hera responded on May 9th that you'd talk through the specific ad budget and campaign goals over the next few weeks, but it would be dependent on your campaign goals and you both could start chatting through things the next week
3. On June 13, we had the pre-scaling meeting where based on your campaign goals, you had mentioned you were planning to spend around $20-$30k, and we built a projection model out for a $100k campaign with $30k in ad spend, and you were in line with achieving those performance metrics
There's a document titled "Rise Centered - CPR Calculator" that you have access to. This ended up being close to your final ad spend.
Was that part of the ad budget not clear? Or was there something we could have done better here?
Also, to add more clarity to why we don't answer budget questions outright, it is not to mislead.
It is because we can't give an accurate response if we don't have two key pieces of information:
1. Your financial goals: we need to know how much you want to raise.
2. Your initial ad testing data: we need to know what your ad metrics look like (CPR + CPL) to be able to work backwards and give you a budget projection that's actually based on data.
This is why Hera answered the question originally in that way and when we had the right information, we built out a projection model to give you a more accurate idea of what budget would be.
In terms of Jellop, was that experience not good? I don't understand how incentives were misaligned. We don't take commission and have no kickback from making that introduction. Can you provide more details?
Thank you for any clarification you can give! Also, if you'd rather jump on a call to discuss, I'm always open to that as well – [email protected].
Best,

As a participant in the LB Accelerator…
As a participant in the LB Accelerator program, It's my understanding that much of the effort is performed by individual clients in consultation with LB, so it's challenging to be both fair to LB in general and accurate about this particular program's pros and cons. That said, (and here's your pull quote) every single LaunchBoom consultant I've had the pleasure of working with is helpful, encouraging, informed, and professional, and they all are genuinely motivated to support each and every client. At the same time, they are skillful when they need to push back or help a client course correct. In my personal and terribly unscientific opinion, the variations between LBA client "successes" and associated individual efficiencies and effectiveness, largely based on client expertise (or lack thereof) as well as goals they themselves don't quite understand, make it nearly impossible to properly evaluate LBA. Frankly, I believe LB should consider a different product/service model for LBA or perhaps move into another space with more regularity/consistency to both better support clients and make smart investments internally re: continuous improvement (i.e., sustained profitability). And that's why I gave LB/LBA a 4-star rating - I believe LBA is about as good as it can be, but I question it's general model. Thank you!
