BE WARNED - Do not rent a car with "Kyte Car Rental". I should've checked the horrible reviews (my bad). On Saturday 8/10 am while in San Francisco we decided we wanted a one-day car rental for Monday so we could drive across the Golden Gate Bridge and check out Sausalito and Muir Woods. We noticed "Kyte Car Rental" was in the next block over and would be very convenient. I downloaded the app, put in all my info, downloaded my driver’s license, my full coverage car insurance # and booked a mid-sized car for Monday 8/12/24 @ 8am. They billed my credit card. I should say, (currently LOL) I have a clean driving record, 800+ credit score. On 8/11/24, they asked if I wanted to pay $5.65 more for a nicer car (Audi Q3), so I said sure and gave the authorization for that. I woke up @ 7am on 8/12/24 to get ready to go get the car, and saw an email received @ 03:00 on 8/12/24 that said: "Upcoming Trip Cancellation" (you do not meet our eligibility requirements) and I will be getting a refund. They also cancelled my login for the app. Of course, has no phone # to call. It's fine that you don't want my money, but don't cancel my rental 5 hours before the pick-up with potential of ruining my day... Luckily, we found a local company with an available car (City Car Rental), and they worked like a car rental company should... Kyte Car rental is a joke (not a funny one)... With customer service like this, they won't be around long.

Overcharged for mileage and had to speak to two separate customer service representatives to have the charge refunded. Horrible customer experience.

I received an old car that stunk of cigarette smoke and some perfume meant to cover it up. The person who gave it to me even warned me about the smell and that it had a documented smoke history, but they wouldn't allow me to refuse it for another car which I later learned was my legal right. I spent 4 days driving that smelly car with the windows down bc it was so foul.And the smell would get even worse when it was parked outside in the sun. Kyte has no customer service, just a chat option through the app that is often unmanned so good luck getting a resolution. I finally got a replacement at 9:30PM, now that my trip is almost over, and they told me that the person who picked it said it smells fine. This is laughable as the person who picked it up was the same person who originally warned me it was smoked in and smelled. This company is terrible. There is reason their reviews are so low.

They are thieves. They charge you hidden fees. Do not rent from them.

if you're looking to be totally inconvenienced for a rental car, this is the company for you. The experience was awful. this company needs to go out of business. Thanks for nothing.

We specifically booked a car to be picked up and dropped off AT THE AIRPORT (ORD) and were totally fine paying a $20 airport convenience fee at pickup and again at drop off just for this convenience. I was shocked to get an update that we had to take a train into the city (opposite direction from our destination) to pickup and drop off from a guy who would be standing near a train station. On top of that $40 we were charged $38 for car rental tax and $28 for personal property lease fee (can’t be both). They tried to say we couldn’t get refunded but my bank (Chase) said that was fraud so immediately they reversed the charges. Scammers!

I want to see the rental agreement, not this survey.

It's the worst company i've ever used, they will cancel your car a minute before your booking have to start for no reason at all, and you can talk to the president easier then talking to kyte. don't use them if you want a car!
