Difficult foot to fit and these are my unicorn
I’m on my second pair of the same trail shoes from Kuru and after years of trying different name brands (Hoka, La Sportiva, Brooks, etc). I’ve got really narrow heels and my feet are also on the narrow side, so I’ve struggled with heel slippage my entire life. These Kuru Atom Trails have the least amount of slippage I’ve ever had, even with my orthotics. Most trail shoes I’ve tried do not accommodate the heavy duty orthotics I use for my extreme pronation because they push your heel up the shoe too far. These deeper heel cups are so much better. I was worried that tread wouldn’t be as good as other brands I’ve worn that are specific to mountain sports and scrambling, but I was pleasantly surprised at how these are holding up. They also have a protective rand that’s common in technical mountain boots and trail runners, which makes these the entire package. It’s really difficult to check even some of the boxes on my specific anatomy and foot mechanics but these are the best I’ve found!

After years of searching, finally finding your unicorn feels a little bit like spotting something mythical in the wild.
