Holding our money hostage and lying about it.
In early November I attempted to initiate a transfer of the $1,800 I had saved through my REEL account. It wasn't working and when I reached out to customer service they claimed they were making upgrades to their website and tried asking me to fill out a Google form (?!) and submit a photo of my credit card and ID (!!!!!). When I complained to the customer support rep Yoseline Quinteros about how sketchy that was she said they would put the transfer through without it. After the more than 10 business days they told me to wait, they stopped responding to my (multiple) emails asking for an update. Then, four days later, I received the sketchiest email reply: “Thank you for your inquiry. This email is to acknowledge that we are in receipt of your request for a refund. We apologize for any inconveniences. We are in the process of internal changes and at the moment we cannot process any refunds. We truly appreciate your patience. We expect to have more updates for you in a couple of weeks.” Um excuse me? I wasn't asking for a refund. I didn't purchase anything. I used their savings account to save $1800 of my money and I want it back. So messed up. Especially because REEL's CEO Daniela Corrente has been on a PR campaign for years with all the feel-good messages about helping people stay out of debt. Such BS.
