If you have insurance do yourself a favor and go the long way!
I clicked on the Blossom Health ad on Instagram because I thought it would be easier (bc I have ADHD tendencies), but boy, I wish I had gone the long way. I was suicidal and needed to increase my med dosage. The psychotherapist was very professional and helped me with my medication needs. While that's all well and good, I got an email that they were putting me on a payment plan instead of going through my insurer. I got NO PRIOR NOTIFICATION that my claim didn't go through, so as a "courtesy", they took $10 a day out of my bank account to recoup their $120. I called my insurance to see what happened, and they were simply out of network, which is fine. But the problem is, they filed the claim and knew I wasn't approved on August 2, when my appointment was August 15. They knew for almost two weeks that I would have to pay out of pocket and never contacted me about it. I brought all this to their attention through email (which is weird they don't have a phone number to call, btw!), and all they could say was that they were sorry it caused me distress. One of the reasons I was suicidal in the first place was because of my financial situation! I don't care if they don't think they're a scam, but their dealings feel shady as hell. I've filed a grievance with my insurer to try to recoup the cost because I could've just waited to go to my primary care physician if I knew this would be this much of a stress.

Hi there - thank you for sharing your frustrations. I get why this has been stressful for you. I looked into it and here's what happened: 1. Your initial appointment on 8/2, we filed the claim with your insurance immediately after your appointment. 2. Your 2nd appointment was on 8/15, but we didn't hear back from your insurance company that your initial claim from 8/2 was denied for being OON until 8/21. It's unfortunate, but insurance companies can take weeks, sometimes months, to let us know the final adjudicated status on a claim. 3. We reached out to you on 8/21 as soon as we knew you were OON, but by then you had already attended your 2nd visit on 8/15. 4. You owed $120 for that 8/15 appointment, and you were paying off that balance using our zero-interest $10/day payment plan. I'm sorry again about all this stress, but unfortunately this situation was caused by the long delay it takes for insurance companies to finalize claims. I wish we lived in a world where insurance companies had modernized technology that would render decisions instantly, but sadly that's not the case. We wish you well and hope you receive the care you need, whether here at Blossom or elsewhere 🌸 ❤️
