I was told prior to the visit my insurance covered it. I was charged $240 for a complete waste of time and very judgy feeling provider

Hello - we reviewed your case and are not sure what you're seeing. As far as we know, your visits are fully covered by insurance (and we haven't heard otherwise from your insurance company).
Moreover, we have not charged you a single cent for any visit. That's something we can say with absolute certainty.
At the end of the day, your mental health is always our first priority. So if there's anything we can do to sort out the facts here for you, please let us know.

I felt like I was bothering my…
I felt like I was bothering my therapist by showing up.
Therapist (Jermaine Nnaeto) showed up at least five minutes late (maybe 8). The consult was 30-35 minutes which felt oddly short. It may have been because I had had an initial consult with another therapist (Dr. Elmer Jones Elma) earlier. Dr. Elmer didn't work out -- That one went from everything is private, to I need the names and contact information for these 6 or so people close to you in your life to talk with them about you -- wait, wat?! When I balked, he gave an ultimatum -- do it or you can find another therapist. I would have thought he might have come back with "Hmm, you seem to have feelings about this, let's dig into that". But nope.
So maybe because he had a history was why the session with Dr. Jermaine was short -- but no rapport was made, and he seemed bored and unengaged. His audio wasn't great either so he was hard to hear. Was quick to dole out meds. Not sure it's right or not. I mentioned that I suspect I might have some autism, but without asking any questions or having me fill out any questionnaire, he said: "I can tell by looking you don't". THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS! Not saying I have autism necessarily though, it was a question. So not happy, but better than the first disaster.
Update: And to add insult to injury, while I filed the feedback with the name “patient”, they respond using my name.
Utterly unbelievable

Hi Patient A - really appreciate your feedback. We always strive to do right by our patients, so thank you for bringing it to our attention when we fall short. So a few things here:
1. Unlike physiological ailments that are black & white (e.g. a CT scan of a broken bone), very often psychiatry deals in shades of grey and psychiatrists make diagnoses and recommend treatment paths based on their learned judgment of your symptoms, personal history, family background, past medical history. etc.
2. Your first psychiatrist, Dr. Elmer Jones Elma, requested "collateral information" which is just a clinical way of saying he was looking for some further information from the people who know you best (your family, coworkers, etc.). That information provides a fuller picture of your symptoms and helps a provider diagnose you with a higher degree of confidence and precision. He certainly could have done a better job of explaining the request and on responding to your (understandable) hesitancy to proceed. We will address this miscue with Dr. Elma because succeeding for our patients means creating a trusting relationship, and that starts with proactive communication and transparency on why we ask for the things we do.
3. Regarding Dr. Jermaine Nnaeto, I won't share too much on a public forum because we value your medical privacy. But he didn't make the diagnosis you were curious about because it's most commonly a childhood and adolescent developmental disorder, and given your age and life circumstances, it's an unlikely diagnosis in your specific case. Of course it's possible you've gone through life undiagnosed, but even so, given the specific facts of your case, it was his considered medical opinion that other diagnoses are more likely.
4. Lastly, regarding medication. We only recommend medication as needed, and given some of your symptoms, it may be an appropriate option for you (only if you so choose it, of course). At the end of the day, your medical care is always in your own hands and we respect any decisions a patient makes about their care & treatment.
We will also follow up with you privately so that we can speak with more candor to address your concerns and hopefully arrive at a solution that works. We truly want what's best for all our patients, and will do our absolute best to help you achieve your mental health goals.

Deceptive Billing Practices
The website states that most people pay $22 per visit. After I submitted my insurance information they emailed me to tell me that my copay would be $0. After the appointment they submitted a charge for $288.
Response from Blossom HealthApr 21, 2025
Hi Kathryn - We understand your frustration, we really do. But really, that frustration should more appropriately be directed towards your insurance company. They're the ones who decide what you're charged, not us.
You're on a high deductible plan, but most patients are on copay plans with an average copay is under $22. We wish that were true for all patients.
We do our best to provide accurate estimates, but ultimately we just receive billing amounts from your insurance plan.
