JamPlay.comReviews of jamplay.com

There is a lot to love about JamPlay. They have a great catalog of videos that cover a lot of topics. There is everything that a beginner could want or need for either electric or acoustic guitar. They also have a ton of genre specific videos that cover the most common styles of music. If you're interested in learning some music theory and other skills that will come in handy, they've got that too. There are a lot of great instructors on JamPlay but they also have Artist Series videos recorded by famous musicians. Another unique feature that JamPlay offers is JamChat sessions where members can interact with instructors on webcam. These are mostly question and answer sessions but sometimes are used to offer a structured lesson or as an open mic where members can show off their progress or something that they need help with. The only danger with the JamChat is that if you aren't careful, you may end up spending more time socializing than playing guitar. You can subscribe to either a guitar or bass membership and you'll get a discount when subscribing to both. I've had a great experience with JamPlay and would recommend checking them out.

I've been a guitarist for many many years now and had became quite accomplished on my own with the occasionally professional lesson from an instructor. I signed up for JamPlay a while back to help me learn some new sytles of playing and pickup some additonal tricks. I have to say JamPlay as far out peformed my expectations. I have picked up many tricks and new styles of playing and have enhanced my playing tremendously. I had alway had resevations about personal instruction as some instructors could just not get though to me or understand what I wanted to learn or how I learn. With JamPlay there is a ton of well orginaized content by many instrutors. If I do a lesson and the instrutor style does not fit my learning style there are usally others that teach the same material but with a different style or approach that I understand better. They also have multiple formats such a video lesson (my fav), live interactive lessons, along with various scale/chord tools. They also have lessons based on skill level or based on techniques or ones on a particar style of music, including lesson on related topics that are not directly peformance (such as recording guitar methods), plus some others I'm sure I forgot or have not explorered yet. All of these leads to way you can decide what format speaks to you and what instructors, seem to best fit you. They also offer some tracks for learning if that works for you, or just skip around to what you want to learn. It really leaves you in control of the experience so that you can taylor it to fit your needs, wants, way you learn best and level as a guitarist. Even if you already have a great instructor and taking private lesson this site can still be great additional tool as well.

This site is incredible, and I think you are doing a great job!!

I've been playing the guitar for 10 years but never really progressed .I can play really well but never really know what im playing ie scales, notes etc.... 2014 comes and its time to start from the beginning, within 3 days of following the vids and putting in the practice ive learnt so much!! But it all comes down to the amount of practice you put in and never getting light hearted when you miss a note, your muscle memory will soon start recognizing the patterns!!!

Initially I was unimpressed with Jamplay after using JustinGuitar, in terms of lack of teacher charisma (how to make learning dull) and teaching ability. However after exploring some more I came across some star teachers; Mark Lincoln and Lisa Pursell are two I've used. I would also say that their classification of beginners course can be inaccurate, after 8 months of dedicated playing the beginners courses can become challenging very quickly. I would hate to be in a first month for some of this stuff. Bottom line, at first I wasn't happy (I took a one month membership to try), however after identifying some better teachers and becoming more acclimatised to the JamPlay platform, I've now taken a twelve month membership.

Got a free intro to the site so I gave it a try. Looked like it would be a good source to learn new techniques, so I signed up. Way cheaper than taking individual lessons and I can use it 24/7 without having to schedule a class. I can take a lesson over and over if I have trouble or if I just want a refresher. The site seems a little weighted toward metal music, but there are other genres represented for lessons. The songs area has more metal than any other kind. Guess that's what people want. Little awkward trying to maneuver around some of the specifics, but for the most part it suits my needs. Some of the instructors spend too much time off topic. I guess I want to get down to business and not have to sit through 5 minutes of them playing before they begin. Sorry, but I didn't come here to listen to someone play a song. I came to increase my own ability and knowledge. If I wanted a concert I'll go to You Tube or buy a ticket. Chord library is handy and a good tool. Don't like how the scale library works. Since I just started, this may not be the most accurate rating or evaluation, but this is how I view the site as it relates to my needs.

Peter Einhorn is the best!! He has a great style of teaching. Hope he supplies more lessons in the near future. Thanks , Ross.

Only issue I'm having now is it isn't very intuitive how you save where you are in each lesson. I finally found the bookmark yesterday and now today it's not there?? Plus what's up with giving yourself the percentage of complete? I would think your system could automatically calculate the percentage based on how much of the video you actually watched...and then automatically save the point where you stop for when you return to the lesson. Every time I try to go back I end up at the beginning. Maybe I'm not doing it correctly, but again I say not very intuitive...
