this website sucks because it gives me 1-3 pts for getting a question right, but if i get one wrong it sends my pts down -5-20 it never awards you either for finishing one but it should bc its so hard, and it gives you explantions that make ZERO sense at all i almost broke my computer from it, if you're a parent or teacher, defenitly NOT recomended

I started using IXL in 8th grade, (The grade I'm currently in) and it's worth mentioning some things. For YEARS, i have evaded IXL, until 4th grade where we were going to use it, but it didn't let us! That was a close miss! But years later... BOOM! I have to do IXL. - The diagnostic test is SOOOO boring and is so unnecessarily long. - IXL got sued for using student's data to make it into data And you want to know what happened whenever IXL got sued? NOTHING! In case you haven't figured out, IXL is an abbreviation for "I excel," Do you excel with IXL? NO The main reason for this is because of the unfair and practically dumb, Drum roll please! THE SMARTSCORE! The Smartscore gives you like 2-3 points for every correct answer, but deducts 10+ points for every incorrect answer. So mistakes aren't learning opportunities here, they just become obstacles. The Smartscore also makes IXL feel more like punishment (it really is) than learning. I would also argue that I learn more from AI telling me the answer or searching the answer more than actually doing this. The assignments are also super repetitive here, and also to close this review, Some of my friends also used and hated this website.

If I could rate this website one star, I would. This poor excuse for a learning experience has caused me to not only break down in tears, but also has made me almost break my Chromebook on more than one occasion. Every time my teacher tells me to open IXL, it makes me get a heavy sense of dread that settles in my chest. Most of the time, I either stare at the screen, or look up the answer. Even as a student that got As in math, IXL is the worst thing I have opened, and I've been using it since 3rd or 4th grade. The grading system is absolutely terrible, too! It's not even just math, but it's also the diagnostics! How can you immediately clock me at a 6th grade level because I got ONE question wrong and not add extra questions onto my score. I got a 4th grade in geometry from ONE QUESTION, and I didn't get any other geometry questions. It's flawed, and almost all of the students I've talked with agree, and they hate it as well.

IXL Is probably one of the worst apps I have used. As a seventh grader, I have used IXL for a while, and this website says that it will help kids build confidence. It is the exact opposite. This website has made me cry so many times. I have had tantrums over this website, and I know I am not the only one. I was depressed and I locked myself in my room for 15 hours. I was crying, and almost had a panic attack. Even one of my friends could have died because of IXL. He told me he was crying so much his throat was hurting for days. If ANYBODY thinks this is a good website, it is not. This website should be banned and the creators should go to prison. I’m tired of letting this be in my mind now, now it is out on the internet. If someone has contacts with IXL, please show this to them and the other reviews. Thanks!

IXL and stress are two things that totally ruin a perfect afternoon after school. Teachers love assigning IXL for math and language arts homework because they say it helps us learn. But honestly, most of the time it just makes kids feel super frustrated and worried. It is important to know how IXL affects us because it can change a happy day into a giant meltdown. The absolute worst part about IXL is the SmartScore. When you answer a question right, your score goes up a little bit. But if you get just one question wrong, the computer takes away a ton of points and drops your score way down! It feels like you are climbing a mountain and then suddenly slide all the way to the bottom. This makes kids feel super angry and want to cry. Instead of making us want to learn, it just makes us scared to click an answer because we do not want to get punished by the algorithm. All of this pressure causes a lot of stress in our bodies. When you are stuck on a skill and the SmartScore keeps dropping, your stomach starts to hurt and your hands get all sweaty. Some kids get so stressed out that they start yelling at their computer or just completely shut down. It makes it really hard to fall asleep at night because you keep thinking about the questions you missed. Plus, spending hours staring at the screen trying to get to 100 means you don't get to go outside and play.In the end, IXL is supposed to help us get smarter, but it usually just causes a lot of tears. Rote practice can be okay sometimes, but not when it makes everyone feel hopeless. Teachers and parents should realize that a robot score is not more important than our happiness. If we could just practice without losing points, schoolwork would be way less scary!

1. The smartscore system makes you feel very stressed. 2. Easy questions give more points, but harder questions that you spend more time on give you almost nothing. 3. The high-stakes environment of the challenge zone makes you feel even more stressed. 4. Even if you didn't answer the question yet, the submit button sometimes doesn't prevent you from submitting your answer accidentally.
