huh? I thought I had a "Smartscore" (such an awful name for points directed towards children) of 95. When did it get to 75? Was it when I got one question wrong for putting the different version of the answer or when I didn't capitalize a letter? For those wondering. That's what IXL does FOR you. However, what IXL does TO you is worse. Teachers... oh those teachers. Always assigning KIDS these skills thinking that since it's on a computer and from "our time" it's amazing. WRONG! All this app does is give you mental issues from the LARGE consequences and the unfair questions. I even came across a question that was incorrect. (Checked by a teacher and AI). You heard that, AI. This app is so bad that AI is better than this. I remember crying because of this. Better recommendations: 1. Prodigy- fun educational games and fair questions with a quest 2. Google gemini- I know.. AI... so bad... however it has a study feature which gives you flashcards, educational videos, mind maps, quizzes, and a summary. It may sound bad but it's less like a game and more studying 3. Books- go read. It's fun. 4. Teachers/notes- in class take notes. Reread them. And trust me, by rewriting notes you are taking in more information.

Hate this. I cant stand it and my throat closes up every time I look at it and I have a seizure. Absolutely absurd whoever invented this app. One star.

I'm a 4th grader, and this literally makes me mad, stressed, and anxious. Even though I am very young, it feels horrible when I hear IXL or see IXL. I say, "Nooo." I hate it; I prefer Prodigy. IXL is a very bad platform; the only thing good about it is its games.

I had to use this site from fifth through eighth grade and I DESPISED it. That is part of what got me into my honors English class, sure, but that doesn't mean I enjoyed it. I'm a sophomore now but IXL destroyed any hope of me being truly interested in learning again.

I dont hate this app but i also dont like it. It really helped me learn and the videos where very helpful unlike iready. But the problem is the smartscore it is bad like you lose 10 points for one qeustion wrong but one point for a corect question?

You know how a few decades ago teachers were allowed to hit their students with wooden paddles if they got a question wrong? IXL does that to you mentally. One experience I recall is getting to the “Challenge Zone” which is where you have 90 or more points, called “SmartScore.” You only get 2 “SmartScore” per question answered correctly, but when you answer incorrectly, anywhere from 20 to 50 “SmartScore” get removed. The difference between IXL and a teacher beating their students (other than the lack of physical contact) is that the questions are often completely nonsensical. One particular lesson on IXL which was assigned to the class had something in the question along the lines of “What are the values of [variable x] and [variable y]?” But, the question had one answer box. If you put the wrong (but still correct) answer in the box, it would then explain to you why that answer was wrong in the wall of text that appears after getting something wrong. Apparently, we were supposed to “infer from the question” which value we were supposed to put into the box. The question that asked us for both values. Another IXL lesson’s answers just felt completely made up. We’d select the one that made the most sense, but it would just say it was wrong. By the end of class, very few had a “SmartScore” above 30. But that’s not all. Some lessons are just complete blow-overs. One lesson could take one or more hours, but the next could take 30 seconds. Needless to say, IXL is a complete mess, especially when it’s completely mandatory in almost every class. It either is completely ineffective by means of having nothing-burger questions, or, on the other side of the spectrum, completely ineffective by means of having the worst-designed questions known to man. Please, for the sake of students’ sanity, refrain from using this depraved application ever.

Do not use unless you are trying to get depression. This is coming from a sixth grade student, all IXL does is stress you out. The IXL leaderboards mostly. All IXL leaderboards do is try to make you type faster than others, make typo's, and get angry over it.

0 STARS “Our app helps build confidence” It does! The other way though. This makes students stressed, anxious, and depressed. For example, you have a 98 score and are at the LAST question. You answer it wrong and start all the way back at 75. This just makes students feel horrible and not want to do math not want to do math. Somebody needs to the team who thought of this. For some reason instead of doing actual learning teachers believe that this will be a smarter solution and that students will enjoy it but it’s the opposite DO NOT RECOMMEND
