Why IXL is not helping
IXL is a widely employed educational program intended to assist students in the practice of subjects such as mathematics and language arts. Though it offers considerable opportunities for academic practice and furnishes teachers with an abundance of information regarding student performance, IXL is not without its faults. Its SmartScore system, for instance, may cause students to question their own intellect when they struggle to attain a high score. Moreover, the program does not invariably provide the individualized instruction necessary to accommodate students with special educational needs. While teachers may esteem the wealth of data IXL provides, such figures, useful though they may be, cannot by themselves guarantee genuine comprehension or meaningful intellectual growth.
