What a bunch of crooks! I rented a storage room from them for $171. After just three months in a 30 day notice certified letter they increased my rental with a whopping 30% increase to $239. I telephoned for an explanation of this ridiculous price hike and was told that market demand governs what price they choose to set. Imagine a 30% price increase every 90 days determined at there will? That is a rate of 120% in one year. Highway robbery! I asked if l could pay a year in advance to control my costs as l am a senior? They replied no. What a bunch of crooks.

The most frequent grievances across all review platforms is their raising rental rates every few months without your knowledge, adding on late fees and then adding liens BUT ONLY SENDING YOU A NOTICE after it is too late to do anything!!! My bill went from $57 to $73 OVERNIGHT with no warning at all!! Long-term tenants frequently reported their monthly bills doubling over short periods, "bait-and-switch" or non-transparent practices where accounts are charged from the reservation date rather than the move-in date, alongside exorbitant late fees and the inability to get partial refunds even under extraordinary circumstances. Also, their customer service hold-times run between 45 minutes to one hour. Do NOT put your precious items here.

My experience with iStorage has been nothing but a nightmare. They took over another storage company, and I seen consistent hikes in my bills over the following months with some overcharges where they issued money back. Recently was laid off work, fell behind on payments...every one else I can freeze payments or make partial payments during this time...not iStorage...full payments only, or we add a $75 late fee. After months of working back to finally settling everything the auto pay would keep coming off the account, and I was only notified AFTER the account was past due...of course. As far as trying to reach an actual person to talk to, forget it. This company needs to seriously be looked at for illegal & predatory outdated business practices.

I have used various storage facilities for decades. Our church has to currently maintain storage for a number of things we have no room to keep these things. We have 2 very large units. THIS COMPANY IS BY FAR THE WORST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They raise rent CONSTANTLY! I have never seen anything like it in my life. Literally, every few months the rent goes up, and not by just a few dollars! It goes up at least 10-15%. We started out at one rate just two years ago, and now we are close to double that! I WARN YOU, FOLKS< DO NOT RENT FROM iStorage unless you want to go broke. They know they have folks by the short hairs, and they take full advantage of it too! I have been selling stuff off in hopes of consolidating, all because of their practices. I will be vacating one of our two spaces by the end of this month after getting yet another notice of a rent increase! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Storage Companies that are part of a chain tend to change their names like babies change diapers. And their rates. My10X15 began, five years ago, at under $200. Oddly, this is the same rate displayed on the NSA Storage web site today. (NSA owns several Storage Units brands) Well, each year my rent increased at random times. I came to dread getting mail from them. But generally they were asking 10% to 20% more. Not a huge deal. But last week my rate soared from under $300 to just under $400! Why so much for an established renter when a new customer can rent for much less? I highly recommend you don't rent with any chain. It may take some work, but find a Storage Unit company that has one location, where the actual owner is accessible. I just rented a replacement unit for $210 instead of $392.24. From a nearly new facility, climate controlled, enclosed loading area, and bathroom as well. The rate is guaranteed for a year, and is also guaranteed to increase no more than 5% each year. And no commitment. So, there are facilities out there that won't distress you, and do not look to take advantage. As I suggested, beware of any that boast to be chains.
