This company is HORRIBLE!!! Do NOT trust your precious stuff with them. I have never moved out of state and I hired them after doing research. At the beginning they were ok but when the truck arrived 10 days later, by the way, my stuff was CRAMMED into a semi with some other persons belongings as well. The driver even had difficulty getting out my boxes. I had a lot of BROKEN furniture and mirrors. Even had some expensive stuff stolen!!!
I did file a claim and they stated to give me $167.00 !!!!!!!!! One of the things that was stolen cost me $375.00. If you value your stuff do NOT use this company… WORST!!!!

You've been warned
Bad, terrible, the worst!!!!! Wow, so much to say about IVL. I hope someone can benefit from this review. My experiences with IVL were just terrible. In June, my household items were relocated by IVL to another state. During the roughly 20 business days to get to my new home, my furnishings were offloaded and transferred (“consolidated”) a number of times before they got to the final location. When the shipment finally arrived the overall condition of the boxes and items show a complete disregard for my belongings. I don't think there was a single box that was not crushed or a piece of furniture that was not cracked, dented, scratched or bruised. Items were lost and were never recovered. We found sand and dirt on the furniture and boxes, so they were outside at some point for how long I can't imagine. My son's prized toolbox was severely damages due to a number of heavy items being stacked on top of it. Anything marked fragile was ignored. We had very little communication with IVL on when the items would arrive at the new house and I feel there was misleading information about the length it would take for the delivery. Now, if I fill out a mountain of paperwork and supporting documentation, I may be able to recover pennies for the damaged items. I really can’t find anything positive to say about my experience with IVL. So now you’ve been warned, DON'T USE IVL. Good luck with your move.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY (if you do, buy the insurance)
I cannot overstate how horrible our experience with this company was. Do not hire them. If you do, buy the insurance.
We were extremely prepared and repeatedly identified our most valuable piece, a $20k vintage sculptural wood table.
Driver arrived 45 min late with no crew. Two movers arrived an hour later and two more an hour after that. No packing materials. Driver asked ME to go to Home Depot to buy bubble wrap and frame boxes. I bought everyone lunch, and the crew then left to “get drinks.”
Day 2: Despite repeated warnings about the $20k table—and specifically flagging the inadequate wrapping—they put this delicate table at the bottom of the truck and stacked belongings on top of it to the ceiling. I have video documenting it.
Driver and workers argued over pay in our kitchen. Loading stopped in the rain over a dispute about a truck limit while our belongings got soaked.
IVL couldn't fit everything. While unpacking, we found boxes with ONE item in them—like a surge protector. We had to leave belongings behind and pay $1,200 to have them driven 600 miles.
Upon delivery, the $20k table was destroyed. Other furniture and paintings were damaged, and the furniture-hardware box—which the driver said he put in his cab—disappeared.
I submitted a $75k insurance claim. The insurer sent an appraiser. **Final tally: $86,000. IVL offered $1,000.**
I documented everything with emails, photos and video. The driver acknowledged that he'd never had someone more prepared for a move and that the handling of the table was “not industry best practices.”
IVL also charged me $500 for “moving blankets,” which I paid so I could have a clear conscience leaving this review.
Accidents happen. This wasn't one accident. It was a cascade of failures involving staffing, packing, loading, damaged furniture, missing items and an insulting claims process.
The only positive: IVL hired a good local crew for unpacking, whom I've since hired again.
I would strongly caution anyone against entrusting this company with anything they care about.

Daniel,
I read your review and don't have firsthand knowledge of your claims. We don't have your name anywhere in our database. I would like to review these claims, since you're posting different numbers and scenarios all over the internet. Please send an email to [email protected]. I will be happy to get on top of this right away.

Avoid International Van Lines at all…
Avoid International Van Lines at all costs.
They misrepresented themselves as a direct carrier, then secretly brokered my move to American Knights. My binding estimate was $7,344.51, yet halfway through loading they demanded an extra $1,000. At delivery, the driver refused to unload unless I paid $3,930 in cash, extorting $1,259 more than the agreed amount.
They also forced a fraudulent $1,258 shuttle fee, even though the driver admitted the truck was not consolidated with other customers. Every disputed charge had to be paid in cash under threat of withholding my goods.
The delivery crew was untrained, caused damage, mishandled my belongings, and left me with missing items. The driver refused to verify inventory and acted aggressively.
In total, I was overcharged $2,257.49 beyond my signed estimate.
Check Yelp my experience is not an isolated incident.

IVL failed in every way
International Van Lines (IVL) and its delivery agent, Fast Move Van Lines, provided consistently poor service characterized by delays, contradictory information, missed delivery commitments, billing discrepancies, and inadequate communication. IVL initially described our shipment as two deliveries, but it ultimately became three, with the third shipment still not having left California more than a month after pickup. Basic questions about delivery timing, the carrier, payment, and unloading went unanswered for days. We were repeatedly told that delivery was imminent, causing us to rearrange our schedules day after day. On one occasion, Fast Move told us the truck had left Chicago and would arrive that afternoon, while the driver later told us directly that the truck had only just finished loading. Delivery subsequently fell through multiple days in a row. By September 4, we had spent six consecutive days anticipating deliveries that repeatedly failed to occur. There were also serious billing and payment issues. IVL stated that $3,830.50 would be due at each of two deliveries, yet Fast Move later demanded $12,860. Payment instructions also changed at the last minute, including a demand for a postal money order shortly before the post office closed. Throughout the process, we were forced to repeatedly chase IVL, Fast Move, dispatchers, customer service representatives, and drivers ourselves to determine where our belongings were and when they might arrive. Promised callbacks and updates frequently did not occur, conflicting information was commonplace, and Leo from Fast Move ultimately hung up on me. Overall, IVL failed to provide reliable delivery information, effective oversight of its agent, consistent billing information, or timely resolution, leaving us to effectively manage the logistics of our own interstate move.

Awful service and stressful experience…
Awful service and stressful experience : unexpected pick up, delayed delivery and additional fees. More importantly many belongings arrived damaged and several pricey items were missing. The customer service did not care to search for the thieves and of course did not offer any compensation.

strongly recommend avoiding International Van Lines (IVL) for an international move
I moved from Germany to the U.S. with IVL, and it took about four months to receive my initial shipment. When it arrived, two boxes were missing. It was difficult to get timely responses when I followed up, and when IVL finally responded, they simply told me that because I didn’t purchase additional insurance, they would not do anything to locate the boxes or reimburse me.
There were also unexpected fees, including a $95 processing fee and $227 in customs fees. They also initially tried to charge me $400 for delivery, which they eventually waived after I repeatedly declined.
Overall, the long delivery time, missing belongings, poor communication, and lack of accountability made this an extremely frustrating experience. I would not use IVL again and recommend looking elsewhere for an international move.
