If I could give them zero stars I would. Terrible, terrible customer service. I never got my delivery, so I can't review the quality, but no assistance in trying to locate it and no assistance in receiving a refund. Don't bother with them.

They treat their employees and…
They treat their employees and customers horribly, quality is atrocious and the green washing is all a facade. Do not use imperfect!!!! It’s literally in the name lol

Gone downhill, total trash now — ZERO customer support
I have loved Imperfect Foods for literally six years, but in the last few months after merging with Misfits Market, they have gotten rid of their entire support team and replaced it with an AI chatbot.
There is an "email" support team, but they don't get back to you until four or five days later.
I have had them tell me my order is rescheduled two days in a row and then ghost me for four days, while I sat at home expecting a delivery. Their response is a $15 credit — and this is when I have spent almost ten thousand dollars with their company over the last six years. Five thousand of that is from the last year and a half alone.
Now I'm sitting here late in the evening, one week after they screwed the pooch royally, and there's no sign of their delivery driver, no sign of the food they already charged my card $250 for, and no communication from anyone at the company as to what's going on. All day the chat bot has told me it will be here by 9pm, it will be here by 9pm.
Now that it's after 9pm the chat bot says I can't ask for a refund until after 5pm tomorrow. Because the box will stay on the truck until it goes out for deliveries tomorrow? I am sorry, I'm not spending $250 on groceries that have sat in a truck all day and then overnight.
Who on earth wants to spend $250 on groceries that have been sitting out for 24 hours?
This went from a groundbreaking (and dare I say life-changing!) grocery delivery service to a sad sack of incompetents who fail at the most basic level of customer service.
I should note that their three main competitors ALL have 24/7 chat and phone support, provided by *humans.*
If Imperfect Foods had just communicated to me what I could expect — if just one person had reached out to manage my expectations — then I would still be their customer, and I wouldn't be writing this right now.
That's a really low bar! But they failed to clear it.

Hi Jeremy. Thanks for taking the time to share your review. You've been with us for so long and this kind of experience is so disappointing. While we did merge with Imperfect Foods a few years ago, you should still be able to expect the same great customer service. We have a dedicated Customer Care Team that typically responds to emails within 2-3 business days. Last week, we ran into weather delays with deliveries and this did result in a huge volume of emails for our team so response times might be slower than we'd like. Having said that, we still need to get you taken care of. We've nudged our team and have requested additional info here so that we can locate your account. We look forward to resolving this for you!

They forget items every week, and sometimes the whole order.
There's always st least one item missing, and one item damaged. They also just forget to deliver your whole order without notice, so I hope you're not relying on getting your groceries.

Hi Pamela! We're so sorry to hear this happened. This isn't the kind of service we'd like to provide and we'd love to make this right. Please send our Customer Care Team a note via the "Contact Us" link on our site. We'll loop in our Packing Team as well so that we can get your orders back on track. Thanks so much!

BEWARE
BEWARE! they make you put in your payment information before you can look at what they sell. On top of them making you create an account for a subscription before you can determine if you actually want what they are selling, they said it could take up to 45 days for my information to be deleted when i went to delete my account all together. This seems very weird and they are not being transparent at all about their practices.
Response from Imperfect FoodsJul 14, 2025
Hi Andrew! Because we're a subscription service, we do ask for a payment method to keep on file but all customers are able to browse our groceries, customize their carts (we won't ship you a box unless you hit the order minimum), or even skip/cancel before being charged. We also have a flexible shopping plan that is not a subscription where you only get groceries when you need them. We encourage you to browse our inventory on this Flex Plan if you'd still like to join our mission to fight food waste. Should you have any other questions, please send us a note via the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of our site. We look forward to hearing from you!

Charged me for food I didn’t order
Woke up this morning to find a debit to my account. Did not order and they won’t take phone calls. This is a scam as I’m sure THEY are responsible for using my account fraudulently.

Crushed Box Spirals To Account Cancellation
So, recently, I received an order with two boxes. The boxes had been crushed down to half their size. The contents of the boxes were actually okay since they weren't filled to the brim. Thing is, Imperfect Foods does their own deliveries, so they knew these boxes were crushed and delivered them anyway. They wanted a list of specific items in the order that got damaged so that they could reimburse only for those specific items. I told them that the items were okay, but I had gotten crushed deliveries two weeks in a row. It was starting to look like a trend. After numerous unanswered emails (they probably marked the ticket resolved with no items damaged $0 woohoo!), trying to call (phone support no longer available) and finally getting Jade in chat, they tossed me $10 off on my next order.
In the meantime, I learned that since Misfits took over, the drivers subsist on tip wages, were deunionized and get one whole day per year of PTO. I don't blame the delivery drivers for delivering my crushed box. I blame Imperfect Foods.
Update: Instead of completely cancelling the account, I cancelled my subscription and went to their flex plan, which I understood to be they would no longer autoload my cart. (I figured if I had a change of heart, it would be easy enough to select some vegetables for that week.) Approximately 10 days later, I got a reminder email and found they had automatically loaded my cart with $100+ worth of produce items. I removed all the items from my cart and fully cancelled my account. If I had done nothing, they would have charged me and delivered boxes in whatever condition. Apparently on the flex option, they will gladly help you buy groceries because it helps them stay in business!

Extremely disappointed this is not…
Extremely disappointed this is not sustainable at all. They never take back the packages and the products do not seem to be rescued. I complained 5 times saying that they should take back my packages but never changed. Do not order.
Response from Imperfect FoodsSep 16, 2024
Hi Eve! We're so sorry to hear that the service has been a letdown. Many areas who get deliveries from our in-house team can return the insulation bags, ice packs, and egg liners. While we aren't able to take back the cardboard boxes just yet, those are fully recyclable, compostable, or reusable. As for our groceries, we aim to routinely stock rescued produce, pantry items, snacks, beverages, and much more while also including staples so that folks can get all their groceries in one place. We'd love to get some additional info and look into this with you. Please send our Customer Care Team a note via the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of our site. Thanks so much!
