I was deeply dissatisfied with the service, professional competence, and patient care I experienced at Houston Methodist (HM) between late December 2025 and mid-January 2026. Having previously received care at the Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic, I found the lack of empathy and the administrative failures at HM to be profound. My experience attempting to schedule a hernia repair and a PSMA PET CT scan was disastrous. Regarding the hernia consultation with Dr. Patrick Reardon, I was never notified by his office that he would be unavailable on January 27, 2026, our scheduled date. I only discovered this by chance through a receptionist. Subsequently, I made numerous daily attempts to reschedule via phone and email. I never reached a human being, and despite leaving multiple messages, I never received a single return call, text, or MyChart message. Furthermore, my attempts to schedule a PSMA PET scan were met with consistent misinformation. Several staff members were unaware the test was offered at HM. Once I successfully submitted my doctor’s order via MyChart, it was flatly rejected because the ordering physician was not based in Texas. No effort was made by staff to suggest a workaround, such as a brief internal consultation, to facilitate the scan. I was able to have the scan performed at another Houston facility using the exact same order that HM claimed was impossible to accept. The administrative interface at Houston Methodist is user-unfriendly, and the staff appears significantly under-trained in basic patient relationship skills. It is evident that HM prioritized administrative convenience over patient care.
