We are extremely disappointed with Honeycomb's lack of customer service. We are supposed to be business partners; however, they rarely respond to our telephone and email messages. In addition, despite obtaining assurances that a quote is approved, they've pulled them without notice creating unnecessary problems with our clients.

Hi John, thank you for sharing this valuable feedback with us. One of our top priorities is to provide stellar customer service to all our agency partners, and we regret to see that we did not live up to your expectations in this instance. We have passed along your experience to our team, and a representative will follow up with you to understand what went wrong and how we can make sure you’ll receive the excellent service we’re otherwise known for moving forward.

Received a nonrenewed notice after only 1 claim, which by the way, hasn’t been resolved yet because of their ineptitude
Response from Honeycomb InsuranceDec 3, 2023
Dear Ty, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. At Honeycomb Insurance, we take our commitment to our customers and our underwriting principles very seriously. While we strive to provide coverage to as many customers as possible, there are instances where we need to take a pass or issue a nonrenewal based on various factors, including claim history and risk assessment. Nonrenewals are only issued when there is a valid reason that aligns with our risk assessment and underwriting principles. Our priority is to provide the best possible service while maintaining the financial stability of our company to continue offering competitive rates. We want to emphasize that this decision is not taken lightly, and it is always based on a thorough review of the circumstances involved. If you have any specific questions or concerns about your nonrenewal, you're welcome to contact us directly or have your agent contact us at [email protected] or 877-415-8901.

It’s hard to recommend an insurance company that doesn’t care about maintaining positive relationships with their agents

As an 18 year insurance agent, the company states they write things, but nothing ever fits their underwriting guidelines. I won't waste my time quoting a company, I have no confidence in possible taking care of the policy holder.
Response from Honeycomb InsuranceNov 12, 2023
Dear Lanford, We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us; it helps alert our team to where there are gaps in understanding regarding our appetite. After speaking with our VP Sales and getting connected with additional points of contact, we look forward to building a more effective working relationship moving forward!

Crooks Write Policies NOT Looking at Their Own Inspection August - Honeycomb did a thorough inspection and 20 photos of the electrical panels. September - I paid $3497 for their policy October - They required $35000 of interior electrical panels which we couldn't possibly complete in 3 weeks. They refunded some money but took $565. They claim they don't review their inspection in a timely manner. WATCH OUT for these crooks.

Thank you for your feedback, Nancy. We are sorry to hear your experience with Honeycomb did not meet your expectations. Our top priority is to ensure the safety of our insured properties and their tenants - and we go to great lengths to achieve this goal. Honeycomb's inbound submission screening questionnaire, the signed application process, and property inspections are some of our multiple efforts to ensure that non-standard electrical panels with an increased likelihood of electrical overload, breaker trip failure, etc., which could result in a fire, are not in our program. If they are identified, as they were in this case, Honeycomb requires that they be replaced. In the event that an insured requires an extended period of time to complete the necessary replacement of ineligible electrical panels, we are happy to be flexible and supportive regarding the timeline, as long as the insured is making material progress toward completing the replacement. In this specific case, the insured elected to cancel the Honeycomb policy midterm; therefore, we refund all unearned premiums net of clearly designated non-refundable policy fees and short-rate cancellation penalties as permitted by state insurance statutes.

Probably the worst insurance I've ever dealt with. If I could give lower stars I would. Customer service 0, timely responses 0. They tell you the deductible foreach occurrence but leave out how high the deductible is so you can't even claim anything unless it's above a certain dollar amount. Tried to claim hail damage and said the amount didn't meet the $40,000 deductible. So if the damage would have been $39,000, they still wouldn't have covered it. Garbage
Response from Honeycomb InsuranceSep 14, 2023
Policy deductibles are presented in the quote you have received prior to purchasing a policy including a specific deductible in the occurrence of wind/hail damage. Your policy coverage and deductibles were clearly communicated to you prior to purchasing a policy from Honeycomb.

The majority of (positive) reviews here review the ease of getting a quote and policy. I cannot argue with them. I can, however, review what your experience will be if you are ever unfortunate enough to need them to stand by the policy they (smoothly!) quoted you (with ease!). They (through their proxy) initially declined a claim for a burst pipe despite heating bills establising the building was heated, as I lacked a nest thermometer to establish what the temperature was set to on the day of the loss. They then deployed an engineer 3 months ago to examine the apartment. It's been 247 days since the incident, and over 100 since the engineer's visit. There is no final resolution in sight, and the report has yet to be shared. I can't even pursue action via my attorney because we're awaiting basic responses and sharing of information. UPDATE: Honeycomb clearly has problems telling the entire truth in their replies. As they note below, the engineers report was dated August, which would imply that my complaint is a lie. What they are NOT saying in their reply is that their engineer inspected the home in early May - not August. Thus, it took their engineer three months to issue a report to them. The end result is no different - you will end up waiting forever to receive any compensation (if you do), and if you choose to contest, you and your attorney will be delayed forever.

Thank you for your feedback, Matt. We’re sorry you feel that way. Since claims are Honeycomb’s top priority, we partnered with NARS, one of America’s top-rated claim services with over 30 years of experience. Our ability to process and resolve claims varies by the nature of the claim and in some cases it can take some time to complete. In your case, engineers report was dated 08/09/2023 and provided to Honeycomb for review on 08/16/2023. In review of the report there still was some additional understanding of the loss facts in order to properly handle and adjust the claim. We are in the process of gaining this understanding and should have a better direction and hopefully a resolution soon.
