This will be long - and please know I'm not a review warrior. I rely on review warriors to evaluate topics and services (ya'll are doing the lord's work) but I generally don't have time. So please now I'm writing this because I felt SO compelled to. First, let's start with the signup process and operational efficiency. Actually let me cover cost first. Hone is very reasonable what it provides and includes, but some of y'all may be thinking you can't afford it. Let me tell you - you can't afford not to take care of yourself. You can use for FSA or HSA, or pay out of pocket - and believe me it is worth it. It is worth it to get a handle on your specific situation and you owe it to yourself. Okay, signup is so easy and yet thorough. I chose in-home labs because I'm busy. They handled the scheduling with GetLabs (which is available in my area and I have used them before). I had a blood draw in-home, and they ordered a lot of labs. Not excessive, but they don't just check your hormone levels - they get the whole picture so they know how to responsibly treat you. My results were available in the portal a few days later - no cloak and dagger here. I did a detailed intake form they actually read (see below). And I saw my doc on a SUNDAY MORNING. Incredible for us juggling insane schedules. My doctor was absolutely amazing. This is a topic that is all too often ignored, or discouraged by other physicians. Antiquated data around risk is often used to misinform (unintentionally) or deter seeking treatment. I consulted AI prior to my appt, to learn information based on data, and to prepare for meeting my Dr. I wanted to understand what to listen for, and how to know I was getting great medical guidance, as I'm new to Hone. Dr. Bedgood far exceeded my expectations. Not only was she kind, patient, and well-informed (she had actually READ my intake form), she went above and beyond to counsel me on nutrition, and my specific life. She listened to me, she understood my career demands and stress, she understood my neurodivergence and how that even impacts my food choices. She gave me really helpful suggestions, including from her own personal experience - not just 'Dr. suggestions' on what you 'should' do. She gave me such great information and was so deeply knowledgable on the holistic picture of how hormone imbalance can affect a person. Her approach around HRT was measured and responsible. She checked all the boxes AI told me to listen for around a responsible clinician for HRT. This wasn't just a generic appt where a Dr threw hormone treatment at me. We talked in detail about what my labs meant, and where we should focus and why. She let me know when to contact Hone if I wasn't feeling any effect, BEFORE waiting for my next scheduled appointment so adjustments could be made. It's always frustrating when you don't have a doctor's appt until a certain date and you feel like you have no ability to adjust or take action before then. She didn't over recommend supplements or additions, but she did recommend what was warranted. I have specific vitamin deficiencies (life long) and no other physician (general or specialized) seemed to do anything about those deficiencies - even when presented on labs those doctors ordered. I have great doctors in my life, I choose them carefully, and yet I'm often reminded of the phrase I once heard a doctor tell me - we treat conditions, we don't often 'cure' them. While there isn't a 'cure' to hormonal decline from aging - I don't feel that things were shoved at me to just treat symptoms. Instead, it felt far more holistic - how do we achieve wellness in all areas to support you going through this transition - AND add hormone support to help. We covered sleep, stress management, nutrition, vitamins and supplements too - not just hormones. And, as I said, the advice she gave me was not generic. For ex. she gave me specific types of vitamins to take for my absorption problems (they aren't all the same!), not just oh take this and you'll be fine. She addressed my risk concerns, and she used data and studies. She explained some of the misconceptions due to older studies, on older populations, and we talked about transdermal vs oral or injections, and what was best for ME. Honestly, if Hone can nail this for general practice medicine - they would be primary care option also. Because they really have nailed proper care - virtually. I couldn't be more elated, or feel more educated on a topic that is often ignored and not talked about (which is ridiculous ladies, we need to demand better). And Dr. Bedgood is SO amazing, that I hesitated using her name because I didn't want all of ya'll to request her and fill up her calendar - haha. But women must support women :). And P.S. I have a few friends who use Hone - and they all LOVE their providers and feel very well matched with them!
