ALL of these reviews are 100% accurate - and exactly what I experienced. I provided Human Resources contact info (and even verified it by calling them), and still HireRight came up saying "discrepancy". They even claimed to be unable to verify my 4-year University degree and asked me to do all the work! Here's why and what you can do: - they use a 3rd party service based in another country, for this reason, they never bother to make any calls to verify anything, they rely on email - they are phishing for YOUR documents; AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO GIVE THEM ANYTHING. Your social security is the only thing they need, legally, to perform a background search - probably, if you feel there is a violation of your privacy and your rights, and a job offer is rescinded, make sure to contact a labor attorney. This company needs to be sued and put out of business.

This Hire Right is definitely Hire Wrong ! It was most stressful and non logical way these guys go about back ground checking. They ask for pay slips, contracts, and heaps of personal info, and then ask for the same info again, and again. This process can go on for weeks! For any prospective companies thinking of using them, please don't, they interfere with a positive recruitment experience from the gecko, and frankly undermines the candidates experience, and makes you feel like you are a criminal. I would strongly suggest if you are a HR leader that you put yourself through this experience to know what you are subjecting a candidate to.

The report is horrible to understand. They forget the docs attached by the candidate and send the report to employer. Candidate has to then run around to make them read the docs. The language in the final report (candidate can request for copy) is scary, to say the least.

OMG, how are these idiot's still in business. Why do multinationals use them? It beggars belief! They asked me for a documents which I had already given them two and a half weeks earlier. They clearly don't know what they are doing! I've even had former employers reach out to me after they were contact by HireRight asking me and I quote "who these clowns were". Please, employers do your own background checks or hire competent people to do them for you.

My background check has been ongoing for MONTHS. They message me at several-week intervals requesting more and more new information. Not only is this information not really relevant (I’m told by friends who work at similar firms that they were never asked for such thorough information), but why was I not asked at the outset for all this info in bulk? Less than a month now till I’m supposed to start my job. Plus, I’m always receiving emails from different people. A complete mess.

Having exchanged a great deal of information via over 30 emails back and forth, someone told me that my application would not be proceeding because of your failure to get me a police check done, which was something I could have got same day of asking. Having worked for a number of years as a mortgage broker, a police check was something I underwent on an annual basis, never with a problem.

Absolutely the worse company for background checks i ever delt with. I turned in my information on May 23, 2022, for a job background check. As of july 22 it still isn't completed. I have called numerous times and am told same thing. That I need to wait. I have been given more than 7 expected completion dates and on the day it is changed. My request has supposedly been expedited 5 to 6 times to be completed sooner, and nothing. I am told that California, a state I have never been to, has changes in how checks are done. Was told can exceed more than 30 days. Its more than 60 with no end in site. I was also told States chosen for background checks are random. I am sorry but the words background check and random should never be in same sentence. Why ask for my social and information if it is going to be chosen at random and only search by name and birthdate. I do have a common name and it seems I am punished for it, from a place I have been telling them for 2 months I never been to. I have more to say but I am stopping here. It is very frustrating and as cordial as I am with operators, who I know have to go by a script, repeatedly say the same thing. These are people lives being played with

I had the distinct misfortune of being subjected to a HireRight background check. It amazes me how such an incompetent company has managed to land major companies as their clients. Their ineptitude boggles the mind, and worse - has the real potential of messing with people's lives. First of all, they take an inordinate amount of time where you are left in limbo for 5+ weeks (thanks for making me miss a month+ of salary), and then they make you do all the work for them! I had to spend hours to fill out forms, provide handwritten signatures authorizing them to research my past and then provide them document after document proving my entire work history! They even made me reach out to employers from 5+ years ago to provide proof that I worked there. They were completely unable or unwilling to do ANY work themselves - if I didn't reach out to past contacts or dig up ancient documents then they would simply flag things as 'Not verified' and make it look like you're lying on your CV. Honestly I have no idea what they're purpose as a company even is, as far as I can tell they did absolutely zero work themselves and just continuously harassed me via daily emails, phone calls, even SMS to feed them everything. Amazing that a business model like that works - do nothing except harass people and get paid for it. Oh, but when you want to reach out to speak to someone it is all but impossible to get someone on the phone. And when you do they are totally clueless. And they have the power to ruin your career through their incompetence - insanity!
