They stink! Totally incompetent. Make you re-apply multiple times, are completely asinine in the way they handle everything. Customer support is a joke, with people that don't have a clue as to what their own processes are about, and are minimally conversant in English. Horrible experience, it has been over 3 months and still working on the process in spite of doing everything required of me from the beginning. I hate them.

I had consistently disappointing experiences with them, demonstrating a high level of incompetence. They struggled to comprehend basic, standard employment-contract situations, and their lack of thorough review resulted in inadequate documentation. Interestingly, external counsel found the documentation to be satisfactory. There is a possibility of a concerning situation related to privacy and potential data misuse, or a deliberate plan for a long-term departure. It's worth noting that recruiters, my prospective employer, and the client were all left dissatisfied with their performance.

Force you to make incorrect declarations stating that your country of birth is the United Kingdom. Last time I checked the United Kingdom was NOT a country. All of my documents state country of birth as England and yet they insist that they are correct. Total waste of time Update, even after complaining they still maintain that there is nothing wrong with forcing people to make statement..

Update: HireRight has completed by background check and flagged my report on two separate issues. The first is that they were unable to verify my employment with a previous company. I have no idea how that is even possible. I even provided the company phone number for reference so they could contact them. They also say in the report that "The applicant has been contacted to provide supporting documentation. Upon receipt, we will update the request." I was NEVER contacted by HireRight to provide ANY documentation with said company. I could have easily uploaded documents for proof of employment but didn't know there was any issue until AFTER they completed and submitted my report to my new employer. Original Post: (regarding different previous employer then the above update) Last week I did Live Chat with HireRight online support and was told they had all the documents needed for my employment time as being self employed. This evening I got another email stating that more documents were required. This is the second time I have received an email stating that my documents were not sufficient even though I provided the documents they requested. What is going on??? This company is taking forever for a very simple background check which is pushing back my start date at my new job.

Hireright broke California law by furnishing a record of a criminal conviction that dates back longer than 7 yrs. Very rude, arrogant bunch of employees who insist on breaking employment laws. They must be sued and huge judgments issued against them before they'll catch on. They also reported the conviction although I sent them a copy of a signed judgemental from the trial court Judge that set the conviction aside and held for not. Which is essentially an expungement. They blatantly violate the law while giving you the attitude: What's you gonna do about it pal ? Well, I'm gonna sue you for it pal !

I went through their awful automated call system multiple times trying to talk to a real person. Spent 2 hours on hold only to finally look up their hours of customer service operation. 3pm-7pm Pacific Standard Time. Honestly very odd hours, and no where in their automated system does it inform you of this. It just responds that the wait time for a representative is "over 5 minutes." Yes I guess thats correct, but very misleading. Thank you HireRight for wasting my time. (looking at these other reviews, very inept company)

UPDATE: I just spoke with someone earlier today and was told my case was being expedited since I have been waiting weeks for my back ground check. They said they were waiting for Kent county. I just spoke with Kent county and they said they have not received any record requests via fax or their secure portal. They would like to speak with someone.I have the contact information for Kent County Records and they said they could get those documents sent via their secure portal today if request is sent before 5 pm. I don't know how you guys are not able to get this information from them in a timely manner. When they are very willing to connect and get this handled asap. I submitted my Back ground check on April, 10th 2023 for a job I was supposed to start on May 1st. Every time I call I am told it’s at 86%. I called on Thursday April 27th I was finally able to connect with Hire Right they said they would expedite my case and disbatch a court runner to retrieve the documents. I called once again on Friday evening around 5:20 pm est. they said that my verification was still 86% complete and that my work history, education and part of my criminal back ground check ( still just awaiting word back from Kent county) had already be competed. They confirmed that they had dispatched a court runner on Friday morning and requested expedited service from the Kent county court but they had not received confirmation or documentation from the court runner yet. She said it may update still that evening since they were in office until 7pm pst. I refreshed several times up to 10:30pm est. but the status never changed. She reassured me that they were trying to get this handled as soon as possible. I offered to drive over to the county to obtain documentation also to go to the Michigan state Police Department and have them issue my criminal background check. The representative said they are only able to receive paperwork from their specified commissioned contact at the court house, and that they couldn’t tell me who it was. I was willing to try anything to get my “lack of” a criminal background authenticated to avoid delaying my onboarding. Called on May 1st since was unable to start my job and after a 2.5 hour wait I finally got through with no resolution and once again was told they would submit a request to have this expedited. I am now awaiting a call back today for an update since I am now two day delayed from my job and have upcoming flights scheduled for training. So frustrating to be held back from starting my job when I have never even had so much as a speeding ticket

Unhelpful or non-existent staff, bothered me for documentation they were supposed to find themselves, excessive time to completion. Horrible company.
