Background check was submitted on August 3rd, on August 9th I recieved an email stating "The dates verified by HireRight for CompanyA differ from what was provided on the application. The original date provides was 2008-05-01 and the date we were able to verify is 2013-11-01." I worked at this company from 2008-05-01 to 2013-11-01, so I'm not sure where the reverification is needed, unless someone here can't decipher that the 2013 date is when I left. In order to rectify this quickly, I went to the website as directed to verify information. The website is beyond pointless and the "Live Chat" option that put me with a robot was not helpful at all I have now been on hold with HireRight for 50 minutes without having spoken to a real person. All of this makes HireRight seem like a disorganized, ineffective and inefficient company, I'd use any other company to run your background checks besides HireRight.

Hireright did the background check for a job that I had received. 4 weeks later, the background check had not been completed and it took so long the company did not hire me. HIreright finally completed it. Here is the breakdown of their errors. 1. They said they were unable to verify my degree (no one else has ever had this issue) so they asked for a copy of my diploma (I'm 55YO). I dug through my papers found my diploma, scanned it and sent it to them. Their result? Unverified 2. They claimed it took four weeks to complete my background check because I lived in various locations and had to do a criminal backgroun check in each one. I've lived in the same county in Washington State for 30+ years and had 3 residences all within 5 miles of each other in the last 20. The background check had 15 (!?!?!?) different residences in 15 different states with a criminal background check for each one. 3. They claimed they could not verify previous employment and asked me to send them a copy of my W-2 to prove that I worked at a specific job...in 2014! No, sorry, I don't keep a 9 year old W-2, the IRS only requires you to keep document for 3 years and I'm not a hoarder. 4. I've owned a business for seven years. They wanted proof that I owned the business. I sent them a copy of the business license and the record from the Department of Revenue and Secretary of State showing the business, the start date and my name as the owner. That was not sufficient. They would only accept a copy of my tax returns created by a third party...my business is an accounting firm. These people are the most inept fools that I have every encountered in my life.

Absolutely horrible. Please do not hire them. They go in circles, ask you to prove impossible things and do not know how to do their job. Also they do not answer their phones, ever. So I am not sure how to have a successful background check.

Worked for company 26 years and we were bought out by another company. They used HireRight to conduct background checks. I uploaded my diploma twice and I could see it uploaded on their site. Girl checking my information apparently doesn't look. I had to call and speak with a live human being and she noted that my diploma was uploaded. Girl checking my information ignores message from other employee. They send me email requesting diploma, which they already have twice. There must have been 40 notes under my education section about not being able to reach my school. I graduated in 1985. I gave them my diploma a third time. Girl checking ignores that also. Finally I contacted my new HR guy and sent him screen shots showing my diploma uploaded twice and the 40 messages this girl kept typing while ignoring the fact that they already had the information. Thank god new HR guy took care of it for me. Seriously, I doubt they background check their own employees. I worked quality assurance for over 10 years and I can tell you they didn't have any while processing my background screening. I would not recommend them.

They are actively blocking my hire as I write this. I’ve tried everything to communicate with them for assistance to no avail. As a Veteran I can’t believe this company treats people so poorly.

This company is totally incompetent I've been waiting over a month now for a simple background check Just to compare a different company called checker did my background check in less than 3 days and was very detailed But this company I don't even feel comfortable with in the whole month I've been calling and I could hardly understand the person on the other side of the phone plus I've had almost 2 hour wait times trying to get through I have talked to the company that I applied to and the position was unfortunately filled already due to the delay on hireright Update 08/04/23 So after 2 weeks of trying to get through to their customer service on the phone two to three hour hold on the phone every day for 2 weeks I finally got through and they explained to me that their process of criminal background check is to contact county courts to see if there are any records . I think that if you consider this it will tell you what kind of crappy company this is not even knowing how to do a criminal background check

Background check still pending for 2 months. Lost the job. Found a new job that also uses them. Now 1 week past their estimate. Looks like I could lose this job as well. Filed a complaint with BBB and considering legal action.

I keep receiving emails between 2 different people at HireRight despite me telling them they have the wrong department. We are a higher education institute with 3000+ employees and because they are too lazy to do their own research to figure out which department to contact, they are sending me harassing emails. At one point they asked me who to contact. 1 - I have no idea and 2 - it's not my job to figure it out, it's theirs. So to this graduating student who has them doing an education verification request in OR, I apologize and urge you to use someone else. These people are incompetent.
