By far the worst background check company. I have been waiting one month for a background check and it is still not completed. I supplied them with paycheck stubs and W2 and when I spoke to them two weeks ago it was 96% completed. I spoke to them again a few days ago and it is still 96% complete. They claim they are waiting for a criminal record from Dupage county, IL. Even after the new employer told them on Wednesday that I worked remotely even though the employer was in that county, they can disregard getting the criminal record since I wouldn't have a record there anyways. They guaranteed they will have the report ready by Friday close of business. I checked today (Saturday) on the website and it is still not completed. This company have no regards for the employer's wishes and they will give the potential employee the runarounds. I have delt with this company in the past and it was the same thing. A bunch of back and forth, not excepting my documents or company contact information or just plain slow responses. The last time I gave up and found another job this time, I want the job and I have to wait for HireRight to do the report. Now I am stuck. My first day at the new job was supposed to be on Monday, but it looks like it will need to be pushed back. So now HireRight is costing me money and I am not happy with how terrible this company does business.

Every single review you all see here is 100% absolutely accurate. By far the WORST experience for someone to go through. Unrealistic requirements with customer service representatives who are incompetent, not to mention can barely speak English. These are peoples livelihoods and incomes. They have no sense of urgency and the way they operate almost seem scam like. I encourage ALL HR hiring managers to please stay away from this company. I work in the higher education sector and when I tell you it's like applying to become a CIA agent it is not an exaggeration. Further more, the constant back and forth of representatives who are inaccurate in approving information is by far the WORST. I had to escalate the situation TWICE for them approve what should've ALREADY been approved. Absolutely ridiculous. The CEO should be ASHAMED

It does not deserve my 1 start, it should be 0 or even -1. The customer support team is a nightmare for me. I experienced the support agent closing my chats twice. They don't care what you have said but keep sending you those copy-paste templates.

I wish 0 stars were an option. 2 of my previous employers use The Work Number for employment verification I even submitted w2 forms and the incompetent staff keeps trying to call when it was clearly explained TO USE THE WORK NUMBER!!!!! I provided employer codes and everything needed yet they keep trying to call. They hardly speak English and everytime I see Hireright it's a complete nightmare I wish they would go bankrupt or companies stop using them all together the absolute worst background check company I have ever experienced

If I could give these incompetent fools 0 stars, or -5 stars, I would. What a scam. How does anyone trust them to verify criminal records when they can't even get employer names right AFTER I TYPE IT FOR THEM?! They don't even try to contact employers and make you do ALL OF THE WORK for them. This process has been an absolute nightmare and a half. Just Google search their past lawsuits they've lost and the countless Reddit comments from people who have had the exact same experience and suffered. I am strongly considering not even taking this new job because of this godforsaken nightmare of a dogpile "background check" company. They aren't checking anything. They just make you do all the work, then THEY make errors, making YOU look bad. Extremely stressful and awful company with unresponsive and nonexistent customer service. Apparently, they are also based overseas, so they do not even understand how the U.S. employment or education system works. Infuriating.

They did a background check on me back in May of 23 and then I did another one in Jan. 6 of 24 and 10 days later they are saying that is will be completed on Jan. 19. they say they are waiting on a state that I haven't been in in 3 years and they can't use the check from less then a year ago for that state that the back ground is still the same. I called and all the customer service would say is policy and they can't use that report. If I no long live in that state then the background is the same. This company is a joke and needs to be shut down. All they do is play with people emotions.

These clowns shouldn't be a business.

I can not put into words the level of incompetence displayed by this company. I have been in the corporate world for almost 30 years and gone through background checks / screenings many times. At most it has taken 2 - 3 days each time. This dumpster fire of a company has dragged things out over a week....Just to accept all my documents and forms! That's not even the actual background check. That will take anywhere from 13 hours to FIFTEEN additional business days. Absolutely ludicrous and has resulted in me having to push back the start date of my hire. Why any company would chose to partner with this place is beyond me.
