Going on a month still at 80% this the worst company to ever deal with when it comes to background checks they deserve no stars no point of calling it’s nothing they can do but tell you your percentage… Other jobs and other background checks takes a week or two max

I wish there would rating with negative sign!!! This company does not deserve even 1 start. The WORSE company to work with.

I have been waiting on Hireright for a solid month now. Was supposed to start a job on March 14th but we are still waiting on Hireright. I have called several times. First they needed more info from my past empliyment, so I sent check stubs, W2s and tax transcripts. Then it was my MVR report, now thats updated. Now they are analyzing my urine from a drug screen that I PASSED on Feb 23! How long can someone possibly analyze urine??!!!! I called on March 15th and they claim the lab has my specimin in the final stages!!! They are a terribke service and would not recommend them to ANYONE. I have been out of work this whole time planning on starting on the 14th, now who knows if they will EVER get done with it. Ridiculous!

Horrible customer service, user interface and experience for employees! They don't update the status but ask you for a bunch of data. I have been screened a few times before, another platform that was called Validata did my previous background check and they did inform me throughout the process what has been verified, how long i should wait and so on. But HireRight's customer service does not help but just pasted answers from a protocol..

Like many others have said - be ready to preform your OWN background check. Isn't it their job to validate you worked where you say you did? They immediatly come back with "Cannot verify your employment". I doubt they even tried. They rather have you submit what you can to prove you worked there rather than to do their job. I supplied them with W2's and everything, still cant verify my employment. Why are they asking for companies i worked for EIGHT Years ago?! What does previous employment even have to do with a criminal background check? I already got the job... Bunch of data mining thieves.

The Good: If you need a verification from an automated system such as court records, the response is relatively quick. The Bad: Drug test samples get lost in transit and they have a 5-7 day SLA so your drug screen could go over a week before they notify you that it's lost and needs to be retaken. SSN Verifications have to be submitted to the SSA with a handwritten form, which has to be perfect. If it's not perfect, of course the SSA won't accept it, but will HireRight tell you or your candidate what is wrong with it and how you can improve to meet the SSA's standards? No, just resubmit and do it better next time and hope that the person reviewing it is in a good mood. The Ugly: The research team cuts corners to close reports quickly, not accurately. If your search requires any actual research or conversation with a human being, you're in trouble. The research team will leave one voice message, and then immediately call off the search and say the contact was unreachable. You can spoon-feed all the correct information so they can run a search, and they will completely ignore it, instead using their own trove of outdated and irrelevant information, then saying they tried but couldn't reach anyone. You're better off asking your candidate to provide you documentation directly. Save your money. And I've worked with the CS Team on these complaints directly so don't bother responding; nothing has changed. I would recommend all other HR departments run far away from this trainwreck.

If I could give zero, I would. I've been offered a new job, and my new employer is using HireRight for my background check. I'm not even complete with the background check- but I'm nearly a week into the process and every single step has been more difficult than it needs to be. They required additional paperwork/information for every single one of my previous employers, claiming they couldn't find them. I used to work at Starbucks. I have a hard time believing they didn't have a way to contact Starbucks or verify the name of the company. HireRight is also flagging one of my consent forms, claiming that my submitted ID's need to be witnessed by someone, and that person must HAND SIGN the form.... I've had several background checks for other jobs and I've NEVER had to jump through this many hoops. It's not my call to use HireRight, and it's obvious from their DISMAL ratings that many other people have had this experience, but if I can give any advice to other it would be to document everything you can, and let your new / requesting employer that this service will be taking a while to complete the background check, because you basically have to do it yourself. If I'm ever in a position to request a background check, I'd never ever use HireRight.
