Not great so far
As part of an annual checkup my doctor ordered bloodwork. At Quest, a warning popped up on the screen that Oscar was not likely to pay for some of the tests. One of them was the test for A1C levels. What kind of insurance company won't test the A1C levels for an overweight 60 year old??? I spent hours on the phone with Oscar, my doctor's office, and the lab trying to figure out why this was denied. When you call Oscar, you initially are routed out of the country. The person in the other country has terrible internet, but tries to cover it up by making conversation and assuring you that they are going to help you. Meanwhile they are desperately trying to boot up their system. If you ask to be routed to a US representative, they try to convince you that they can help you. Then, yesterday, I tried a telehealth visit for wound care. The person who met with me (not a doctor) advised me to cover the wound with gauze, which was terrible advice because that night when I went to clean the wound, the gauze had stuck to it. Removing the gauze was painful and caused fresh bleeding. I have two friends who are nurses, and they were shocked at that practitioner's lack of knowledge. I am 60 years old and have never experienced that level of medical incompetence before.
