My experience with an insurance company couldn't be worse. I never had insurance with such vague EOB and unreasonable way to proceed claims. I have claims as old as early March to that their patient amounts keep changing and processing again again and keep changing! Months of follow up with Oscar had no result. I even put a review for Oscar before and here is the Oscar comment on my review: " our team would like to learn more about what may have occurred. Please check your inbox for a followup message." Yet they never contacted me and all my follow ups had absolutely no results up to this date. I have an stressful risky pregnancy and Oscar made everything more difficult by adding lots of stress to the medical process. Very very disappointing insurance.

The worst health insurance company ever!! I had Oscar for 2 years, I am very healthy and I didn’t visit any doctor in the first year but when lockdown came I got depressed, insomnia, sleep apnea than suddenly I got a panic attack around 1 am. I called oscar for advice but the guy sent me an ambulance although I forbidden him. The ambulance came they were also extremely rude, they cared more about my mask than me that I could hardly breathe and took me to cedar Sinai hospital which is 10 minutes walk from my home!! I could have walked there!!! Than I got an injection, some exams than the bill was about 1000 dollars plus labor costs. I did not pay, I could negotiate with the price so I finally paid 200. But some months later I got the ambulance bill of 2500 dollars!! First Oscar said that I have to pay 600 than after 6 months they said that I have to pay full amount! Than the bill went to collector so now I must pay 3000!! Both oscar and the ambulance company are scammers, they want us to get broke, than become homeless with outrageous bills!!! I never wanted ambulance service!!!! They sent me without my permission!!!! So I canceled my health insurance and I don’t have any!! Since than I am healthy, I don’t go to any doctor!!! F… you all scammers!!!!

I purchased an insurance plan with Oscar that listed a price of $0 for Telehealth visits, which I was planning to use for psychology counseling. I inferred that such services would fall in the Telehealth category, since there is no need whatsoever to see a psychologist in person, especially under a pandemic. Alas, the company forces you to see the counselor in person, and charges $125 per hour. This, under a pandemic where millions of people need counseling and protection agains a lethal virus. I contacted the company in this regard to no avail.

So I had to get a medically necessary foot surgery. I called in and found a doc in network and after they went back and forth they cleared me for care and I got my foot fixed. Then 2 months later, they said the surgery was elective and didn’t add the $5,000 I spent to my deductible and out of pocket saying it wasn’t a necessary procedure. My foot surgeon was dumbfounded and said in his 20 something years of being a doctor he had never heard of a company taking back a medical clearance after a surgery. He wrote a letter of medical necessity and they ended up covering it. Then… 6 months late I started getting copays from doctors after having reached my deductible and they said my surgery wasn’t covered because it was elective and so now I’m going through the same situation all over again!!! Absolutely outraged. I’m sure eventually sometime in 3 years they will decide it’s necessary but geez save your time and go for a different company!!

I had Oscar for 3 months. They are worthless. They claimed a provider was in-network on their site, when that provider was not. They are currently "resolving" this, and have been for months, but it increasingly looks like I'll be on the hook for the entire bill amount. Second, and more egregiously, they claimed that "I did not make payment for overdue balances" for the last month, even though I paid all of my three premiums. For this reason they rejected a claim they should have covered during my last month of coverage, for which I paid all of my premiums. It looks like we'll be on the hook for about $2000 to cover payments that Oscar was supposed to.

We had them for about eight weeks. I won't bore you with the details but this is the most unorganized, dumbly run venture I've ever dealt with. It takes them forever to answer simple questions, one person tells you this, another that. Needless to say we took our business elsewhere.

EDIT: Despite their comment below, I emailed them again and have gotten no response 🙄The experience has been so appalling my employer is trying to cover me so that it qualifies as a "life event" and I can get out of this nightmare. This is the saddest 1-star review I've ever written because I started out LOVING Oscar. Their support is so nice but unfortunately, the product and company is poor. After fracturing my wrist, I had to see a physical therapist. I called their support team, who said they'd look up a list and send it to me. After 2 days of no response I called back and they apologized that they had found me a place, but forgot to send the email. So they gave me the name of the place over the phone and I made an appointment. They then DENIED my insurance claim saying it was out of network! I never would have even found the place if it wasn't for them, I wasn't anywhere near the place... The medical office even confirmed that they work with Oscar and they are in network!! So fortunately they are trying to help me, but the insurance company I had so much hope for has completely screwed me on this.

Not Insurance Company. This is a personal experience: I paid them for months and when I needed them got nothing in return, they abanded me and rejected any kind of cover. They denied dealing with any hospital and every time I call or the hospital call them they give the same lame excuse: I do not have deductibles or any excuse that does not even convince a child because they do not care whether I believe it or not...really they are not an insurance company, they are just money takers...My advice to anyone not to deal with them because one minute could be a matter of life or death and you will find them not there to cover you as it is supposed to be...I canceled my insurance with them and advice, everyone, to do so to teach them a lesson that they are playing with our health and money
