Three months ago I purchased an orange tool box, but had to wait for the next months income to afford the roller chest under it. For three months I have travelled to five different locations that their web page says they have the item, but no stores ever have it. When I call they answer and immediately put me on hold to finish a transaction that never ends. After an hour I disconnect. It seems Harbor Freight only wants your money, NOT your business.

Though in good standing with my synchrony credit account, this group closed my account based on BS reports and stated I have to many open credit cards. I do have 4 capital on cc's, all for my business. I used this card as well for my business, until this happened. I'll NEVER step foot in another HF as long as I live. Not to mention it's all junk made from China anyway!

Harrassment
Today we experienced poor customer service to the point of bullying and harassment at the Harbor Freight Store in Santa Fe, NM, a store that we have enjoyed shopping at for quite some time. After shopping and filling our basket with a number of items - over $200 worth, my 77 year old husband needed the bathroom. As it is locked with a code, he went to the front desk and asked to have it opened. The cashier, who we later found out was the manager, mumbled something and my husband went back to wait. After a couple of minutes with no help, he called out ‘Bathroom”, as there was an urgent need and he did not want to walk back up front. An older man who has had prostate cancer with radiology can need the bathroom on an urgent basis.
After calling out a second time and then a third time, the IPS security guard, Sellers, walked slowly down the center aisle toward the restroom then turned on a cross aisle before going back there. I was in the line to pay and my husband was at the restroom - we both saw him heading to the restroom. I could not see that he turned away before going to assist my husband, so I thought things were taken care of… Then I heard him calling out again. Another customer went to check and I heard him tell another that “the guy is just waiting to get into the bathroom”. IPS came back and went to the restroom, unlocked the door and told my husband to leave the store for yelling.
My husband asked to speak to the manager. She refused to talk to him and told him there was a sign at the entrance about no yelling. The manager refused to give her name and tried to check people out with her hand over her id badge. While standing there, my husband was told to leave the store by the IPS man, at which point he put on his leather gloves and put his belly against my husband and was nudging him. He then stepped back and radioed someone. By this time, I was up to the desk to pay and told them I had all the name badges on the video that I filmed. My husband stayed with me so he could pay for the goods, and then we left.
There was no sign about no yelling - I checked on the way out and took a picture of the entrance signage.
I realize that there is a homeless problem and a theft problem in Santa Fe and many places have locks on bathrooms. NEVER have we had an issue with getting into one. The employee either immediately opens the door or give us the code or the key.
Had the IPS guy just gone back on his first pass and opened the door, despite it taking a 4 or 5 minutes for him to get there, there would have been no problem. Or an employee could have opened the door - I am not sure what the policy is for getting a bathroom door opened there.
Customer Service from Harbor Freight and IPS rate a zero. I guess we should stick with Home Depot and Lowes who do not have locks on their bathrooms.

Thieves
Thieves! They steal personal information by forcing you to show your driver's license, which they then scan without you giving them permission. "Showing" does not mean "scanning." If you don't have an ID they won't refund you on anything you buy. BEWARE. I will never shop their again. You may think you are getting value, but this is a sinister company.

Harbor Freight is going down hill but some stores still shine!
First of all, I have been buying tools from Harbor Freight since around 1977 and have had mixed results dealing with the company. Some stores are better than others.
For years my business would spend thousands on tools and supplies. My employees would always fight to see who would get to go to HF for us because they would get the free items they gave away for themselves. I got to know the store managers and would return defective items myself.
But then things changed and they quit giving out their 20% off coupons and free items. Returning a defective item that broke on the 90th day was not acceptable. Employees got crabby and managers had moved on. Now my employees fought to make someone else go to buy supplies. We switched to Grainger.
Now I have read some of the previously written complaints about HF and recognize that they were scammed by thugs with realistic looking emails. Those offer something free if you just pay shipping for a free pressure washer or something similar. HF did not send you those emails.
Ok, so what's my beef? I was visiting a HF store in Citrus Heights, CA and an employee was rude and disrespectful. I asked the cashier to ask the manager to come to the register. In a squeaky voice he says the A-hole IS the store manager! That guy just smiled like a Cheshire cat and gloated. My wife gave him the riot act and he just crossed his arms and grinned at her. Of course we left. Later we called customer service and filed a complaint and were assured the district manager would call us and register our complaint. We never got a call.
We ended up going to a HF store in Elk Grove where the lady manager was fantastic.
But now we are back in Colorado and went to a HF store in Canon City, CO with a 25% off coupon to use (personal, not business). The cashier was friendly and helpful. When he couldn't help us he called the manager who came out and was as friendly as can be. He was not disrespectful like that other manager in CA and spent ten minutes explaining answers to our questions.
So what's my point? Yes HF is going downhill and most of the stores don't really care about customer service, BUT there are still good people working at certain stores. Instead of complaining about certain stores, put up reviews about stores that treat you right so others know where to shop and which stores to avoid.
As with any stores you shop, some are good - some are not. Take your business to the good stores eventually the bad store managers get fired!

They ship you garbage and you get to figure it out.
Bought a motorcycle stand and it arrived with some parts manufactured incorrectly, so it wouldn't fit together properly. The customer service person was nice, but their policies are total garbage-- Basically return it or deal with the trash they just sent you! I will never buy from Harbor Freight ever again.

Deceit and scams
Received an email saying I had won a Pittsburgh tool set, just fill out survey and pay shipping of $6.95.
Filled out the survey then gave shipping address, phone number ect, before they asked for payment.
After they collected that information the price went to $7.95…………….I visit their stores often as I’m in Construction, but they just lost my business forever!
No it’s not the dollar, it’s the deceit in advertising and scam to collect information! Fk Harbor Freight now!
