I have a torn ACL
I have a torn ACL. I ordered a brace in mid August on a Friday afternoon. Called two weeks later to pick up the brace it wasn't made. I understand from the receptionist at Hanger Orthopedic that the doctor and insurance didn't approve the brace. I reached out to both the doctor and insurance and both sent me the emails where they had approved it. I forwarded them to Hanger. My emails were not accepted because I was just forwarded and not the originator of the approval. The third week of September I get a call the brace is the wrong color but it is made. I ask about the insurance and she tells me my insurance was cancelled in 2018? Funny everyone else is getting paid through my insurance. I send my insurance card that was scanned an my original appointment. My insurance is in my husband's name. She couldn't understand that. I purchased a wonderful brace off Amazon for 1/4 the price and works great. The clinican was great.

A Great Clinician + A Custom Designed Arizona Orthotic Boot at “The Hanger Clinic” = My Healed Foot!
Ms. Kia is a highly competent, kind, caring and compassionate clinician; she is also very knowledgeable and a great listener.
She assessed my fit for a custom designed Arizona Orthotic Boot, prescribed by my podiatrist to relieve significant foot pain, and instability while facilitating healing of my Posterior Tibia Tendon Dysfunction (PTTD). This was an acquired condition, partly due to aged arthritis and also to constant standing, while teaching high school science, K12 through College Level Swimming Courses and life guarding for over 40 years.
As Ms. Kia’s patient, I received excellent care while having all my questions answered, and my concerns addressed; she even comforted me with techniques for how, when and where it would be feasible to intervene “my” personal footwear during my healing. First, she suggested that on special occasions, while still convalescing, I could wear my own footwear on some weekends after wearing my boot during the week and second, the environmental factors that I should be vigilant of when doing so. She reminded me of being very aware and attentive of my environment and surroundings, especially, when walking on variable surfaces, varying in traction and texture constructs. The knowledge and techniques Ms. Kia gave us, offered great comfort and emotional support; we really appreciated that!
My husband and I appreciate how she helped to develop the best orthotic care for me, and
shared specialized techniques and manageable solutions, designed to help me reach my goal and obtain successful outcomes, which I can say, at this point, I did! Currently, I have minimal to no foot pain and great foot stability.
She and her front desk staff always exhibited best practices at the highest level. We experience kindness and great care, at “The Hanger Clinic,” every time we enter the building.
Thank You Ms. Kia & “The Hanger Clinic”

Hanger clinic is a joke …
Hanger clinic is a joke the secretary is a joke, she wont answer the phone EVER! My daughter has a custom brace from them unfortunately, if something breaks like a strap, velcro they make you go down for an appointment to measure the strap to order it, why cant this place simply stock velcro and strapping its a joke, now I am filing a complaint with medicare duo,now she cant even walk without this custom plastic molded brace. No other brace company will fix this because it did not come from them. This is the worst medical place on earth and yes I am furious because the brace is broke, and also when they did fix this brace 1 time they use cheap self stick velcro with a very low poundage strength 5lbs maybe it doest hold,I was forced to get 20lb at a store and last for a year.FIND ANOTHER BRACE PLACE SO YOU DONT HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS

I Never got My AFO My Ins. Paid for!
I ordered a custom AFO for my (right foot-ankle-lower leg) in Feb. 2024. I didn't rcv. it until Mar. 2025. The Orthopedic Surgeon stressed that I required the AFO within 2 weeks of the order date to assist in keeping a splintered bone aligned in order to heal properly. Hanger charged my ins. Co. roughly $1,300.00, collecting their fees immediately, but didn't deliver my AFO for approx. 14 months, far too late for my medical needs, causing my leg to heal incorrectly! ~ later the next year, in spring of 2025 Hanger Clinic molded an AFO for my (left foot-ankle-lower leg) which finally showed up to (be fit) in late fall (Nov.?) of 2025. When I went to the fitting, my heel was between ½" & ¾" from "snugging down into the AFO". The technicians ("so-called remedy for the off-balanced base of the AFO"), was to put a stack of rubber padding under my heel, affixed to the inside of the heel of the AFO (with 2-sided adhesive), so it would "fit" my foot. The problem was; that when I tried to stand up, it was if I were wearing a shoe with a ½"-¾" heel on my left foot, & a fabric scuff on my right foot (with no heel whatsoever)! *My balance was so far off, I tilted over. Hanger Clinic insisted that I try to wear the Left AFO for a few weeks & see if it would work. (It didn't, so I brought it to their attention & finally got an appt. for a recasting & returned the left AFO to Hanger, (just prior to or during, or around the holidays 2025, or sometime soon after in 2026).! ~
■I'd have to check my date books for exact timelines, because they've given me so many "run-arounds".!■ ~ Hanger Clinic again billed & collected another (approx.) $1,300.00 from my insurance co., without again giving me a useable AFO.! I kept calling Hanger Clinic, but my calls either went to a voice mail system or the receptionist gave me the "brush-off" & I never got any call-backs from the technician or anyone else! Finally Hanger Clinic agreed to recast my left AFO in early spring (Feb. or Mar.) of 2026. In late July, after at least 10-12 attempts to speak to anyone about the whereabouts of my left AFO, I was told it was at the clinic waiting for me.
■(Various excuses given to me for the 5 month delay: ●The lab misplaced my recast, ● my insurance refused to pay them a 2nd time, ●the AFO had already been delivered to me, ●they had no paperwork or orders under my name, ●I'd accepted the existing AFO & therefore weren't responsible, ● they'd misplaced it somewhere, ● (& a few more).!
Finally I got an appt. in mid July of 2026, but when the technician attempted to fit the AFO to my left limb, I immediately told him: "THIS IS THE EXACT SAME ILL-FITTING AFO THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE RECAST.! IT'S ALREADY BEEN TRIMMED FOR MY TOES & THERE'S STILL THE STICKY RESIDUE INSIDE THE HEEL FROM WHERE YOU REMOVED THE 2-SIDED TAPE TO HOLD THE (ELEVATING) PADS INSIDE IT.! THIS IS NOT A NEW AFO.! IT DOES NOT FIT ME.! YOU NEED TO REMAKE THIS.! YOUR CLINIC HAS BEEN PAID ALREADY FOR OVER A YEAR, & I STILL DON'T HAVE MY BRACE.!
■The techilnician kept insisting that this was the 2nd brace they'd made for me... That I was just impossible to please... That if I wanted them to make another brace "I'D HAVE TO PAY FOR IT MYSELF".!
Hanger Clinic refused to return other calls from me for weeks & when they did finally speak to me they had this to say: *(When I told them if they weren't going to make my left AFO, then they'll need to return the money to my ins. co., so I can go elsewhere to have the brace made.) ●They replied with: "Just try & get a refund from us!".! Then they hung up the phone on me!
I called my insurance Co. Representative, but after 2 weeks of their trying to reach anyone at Hanger Clinic, it's become apparent that my health insurance Co. is also getting the brush-off from Hanger Clinic.!
■ Here's a side-note of relavence: ●During the initial casting of the Left AFO, I told the technician specifically that my foot-ankle & leg were bent incorrectly during the actual casting of the AFO, but he "INSISTED" that the adjustment could be made once the final AFO had been made.(It turns out that it wasn't possible to make that adjustment in any way shape or form!
Hanger Clinic Is a joke.!

How do *YOU* like it?
To be honest, seeing employees, whose LinkedIn says her mission is to inspire others to be their best and encourage people to love their life and themselves misrepresent themselves in leaving negative reviews for other local, small businesses, and without good cause. Rachel is not a good person in public. She leaves negativity everywhere she goes including at Hanger Clinic. You want her as a face for your business? I don't want her in mine. (RT-O)
