Somewhere below in the reviews I saw that after the start of sales they block the account and keep the money as long as they want. And Yes it happened to me, I sold two digital products ( icon design kits for the site) and at first everything was fine, I got a 5 star rating on the products. A day later, I just can't log in to my account, it's blocked. And I wrote an email, but there is no response yet and there is not even any notification! Guys from Gumroad apparently look that I'm from Russia, and take out their hatred by doing things like rats. If anyone knows how to influence them write. I want to get paid for my products.

The user in question made 2 sales on Gumroad for relatively small ZIP files. Each sale was to the same exact customer. The sales were $800 and $970 each. Both sales threw up enough red flags that we were notified by PayPal, and we automatically refunded both sales. We do not "keep" user's money when we suspend their accounts. If we did that, we'd be shut down by Stripe and PayPal very quickly. We are required to refund suspicious or fraudulent sales. I suggest that if you want to make sales like this in future, just have the customer pay you via PayPal directly.

I have no records of any interactions with this individual, nor are there any accounts on Gumroad under this account. If I had any further context, I could reply to this review, but as of now it appears to be an anonymous detractor.

Can’t wait to see what kind of passive aggressive response gumroad comes up with!!! Gumroad sucks! :) like everyone says they have poor customer support and horrible website layout. After only 1% of UNFAIR charge backs they shut down your account and basically play it out like it’s your fault! :) I sell cosplay photosets, someone bought about 6 sets and then about 2weeks after I already got paid out from those purchases that lowlife charged back everything, got my content for free, lost ALL my money from the week, and was shut down. Just because somehow it’s my fault Robert wants to jerk it to my cosplay and then return it because their policies are as weak as a wet limp noodle. Also anyone with 1brain cell can read your responses on these reviews and can see your company’s attitude problem. They were even condescending to one another on their team: example: I emailed them a question about payout, it didn’t answer my question so I emailed back saying feedback was unclear and then some crackhead said “well xxx doesn’t know what they’re talking about sorry you got mixed responses but my word is law here” and then THEY were wrong as well. It also took 5weeks for my first payout and they kept saying check in after at least 5 sales to 5 different customers and I had 49 sales and about 9 different buyers and I still was waiting for payout. I get that you have certain banking partners but newsflash they suck, and by relation YOU suck, gumroad. Get your act together. Stop pointing fingers at content creators who are putting money in your grimey pockets. it’s YOUR fault for basically enabling content stealing. If you’re going to run this type of website you can’t halfway it with so called banking partners who put you in this situation. Maybe take a break and put the website under construction while you work out better banking partners for your creators. Look around everyone is unhappy hence the 2/5 stars. Yikes

So, it seems like the underlying issue here is that you dislike our chargeback policy, and think that we have the ability to prevent chargebacks from happening? Our policies on chargebacks can be seen here: https://help.gumroad.com/article/134-how-does-gumroad-handle-chargebacks When you create an account on Gumroad you are acknowledging and agreeing to work under our Terms of Service. We cannot prevent chargebacks from taking place. No website who uses Stripe or PayPal can. As for payouts taking a long time - you admit you were selling NSFW products, which we state quite publicly have a higher-than-average risk profile. We need more sales on these accounts before we issue payouts, because they often do result in chargebacks or fraudulent payments. Your experience proved this to be correct.

Gumroad is a place that obviously allows pornography listings and profits from pornography sales. I would never willingly list my product on the same page right next to extremely graphic Porn images for sale. For many professional reasons! Unfortunately Gumroad allows that. kidmo?recommended_by=search

At this point, it's just hilarious, and I feel like I must be on a tv show where they prank people and laugh at their frustration. A user bought digital assets from my store but gumroad was not allowing them to download them. When I reported this to gumroad, they blamed the user for the problem and provided advice that was not relevant. I refunded the user, and asked gumroad if they could still try to look into the issue, and gumroad said that they couldn't fix the issue now, blaming ME because I refunded the user! The response I got was "I literally can't rectify anything right now, sorry. There's no solution right now besides the customer buying the product again." Later, all of the files (about 50) in my subscription product suddenly disappeared. And when I asked what happened or how to get them back they replied: "We didn't delete them, sorry. Best, Cheryl, Manager of Support Gumroad". That's the whole email. I asked what they could do to help fix the issue, and they said "I'm sorry that I'm not providing you with the service you expect, but I'm not sure what you'd like me to do Gavin? You deleted the product. You don't want to sell the product anymore. What steps can I take to make you happy?" The platform has issues and the customer support (at least from Cheryl) is unhelpful and condescending.

Horrible customer service. I purchase books during Black Friday Sale through a mobile browser. The seller name says “REEF ID BOOKS”. The product title says “TRAVEL SET”. The product image shows physical books. So I expect to get physical copy and click to pay. It was just simple three steps from cover page, select product and then payment with CVC. I noticed that something was wrong when the delivery address is missing and there wasn’t any step to review my order. I emailed the seller and Gumroad right away. The seller never replied. After couple of emails, Gumroad said it is ebook and no refund even I clearly said I’m not aware it is ebook and have no intention to take any ebook. I clearly showed them screenshot of my purchase processes - no e-book clearly states anywhere. My first time purchasing from this Gumroad. Never again. Unprofessional and misleading.

The URL of these products is https://gumroad.com/reefidbooks On none of these products is it mentioned that you will be shipped a book. Most, if not all product descriptions clearly state that you are paying for a PDF.

I sell my product on many platforms such as CGtrader, unity and Unreal marketplace. The following happened in the Gumraod store: one person bought from me 10 goods for about $ 200, after which within a month he returned 8 of them without explanation and without my permission. After that, the Gumroad administration blocked my account without trial, accused me of fraud, and now also of money laundering. I am an honest person, I pay taxes in my country, I have never been involved in money laundering, and these unfounded accusations are strange to me. I also looked at the reddit topics on the gumroad and you know what? - I'm not the only one, many people write that they were also lied to, that one or two returns of your goods mean blocking your store and returning all funds to customers. Gumroads are essentially fraudsters themselves, instead of investigating the situation with the support service, they immediately blame and expose honest people as criminals, and then appropriate honestly earned money. edit 13.11.2019 Here is a quote from the pay-pal return statement: "This user was using PayPal and Gumroad to launder money. No money should have been sent to them." You definitely didn't blame me? Stop lying Gumroad! Here's how normal stores do: block a dubious buyer. Of course, you must return the money if the credit card was stolen. But you accused me of fraudulent activities and blocked my account. Why did you file a report for this review? If you consider yourself right, then why are you shy? Let everyone see how you do business. Why did you find time to discuss this here, but did not find time to sort out the situation and write to me privately about it? edit 13.11.2019 Let's take it in order: there were 10 purchases from 1 person in total (I know this for sure, because the mailing address was 1), I have no idea how many cards he has, how many of them were stolen, I'm not interested. Further, the purchases were made on November 7, and the pay-off payment was made on 15-18, so it is set in the settings and happens automatically. In NORMAL stores like Unreal or Unity, there are also cases where fraudsters steal cards and make purchases, but there the issue of return is calm, no one blames the author and does not block accounts. Do you think that I would not return the money? Have you tried just to write me an explanation of the situation? No, you just immediately started to push, blame and lie, moreover you are not just asking for a refund of 10 purchases, you also want $ 65 already in July .. why? Again they didn’t bother to explain anything, they simply wrote that I was a thief and laundered money. As a result, it turns out that the real criminal received a bunch of my goods for free, you returned the money ($ 65) to honest customers, and they deprived me of the account and lied. Therefore, I want to leave this review here so that people are careful. Yes, I appreciate what you wrote to me in the mail and want to discuss something, but don't you think it's too late?

We apologize for the stress caused by account suspensions, but this person states out that we return all funds to customers, then accuses us of stealing this money. Which one is it? Are we refunding it or stealing it? In any case, to be clear: if an account is suspended, we refund all sales. We are required to do this. We do not profit from suspended accounts. Unity and Unreal have different banking partners than we do, so they can afford to handle chargebacks the way they do. We do not have that luxury. Edit to address the PayPal return: In this specific case, the creator made multiple sales - all of which showed extremely strong signs of being fraudulent. Hundreds of dollars in sales were made on a handful of stolen credit cards. That money was paid out to this creator, and then refunded out of our accounts to the owner of the stolen cards. That money should never have been paid out to the creator, as it was stolen. The money was, in effect, laundered from a stolen card into their PayPal account, and we were looking to scrape it back. Edit 11/13 The creator was automatically notified about one of his sales resulting in a chargeback. This money does not come out of his accounts - it comes out of ours. We did not ask him for $65.
