scam , after making purchased they suspend my account and no money .. avoid them use other services to sell your products
Response from GumroadJul 21, 2020
Happy to clarify! Ben took this product: https://www.coursehero.com/file/41098460/Paypalguidepdf/ and uploaded it to our servers, copied/pasted the the entire course description, and then sold the files to people who were using stolen credit cards and compromised PayPal accounts to buy them. In effect, he was attempting to launder money through our site. When confronted with this in an email thread, he avoided the subject and tried to tell us how we were scammers, then left this review. Hi Ben! If you read through https://help.gumroad.com/article/160-suspension and https://help.gumroad.com/article/161-what-gumroad-considers-fraud we explain our policies on fraud and why we suspend/refund accounts. In your case, you were: 1) Selling products that you didn't create (i.e. committing fraud), and 2) Your sales showed extremely strong signs of being fraudulent Thus, we had to suspend your account and refund your sales to the cards/PayPal accounts used to buy those products.

My experience as a buyer: After buying a course through Gumroad I had an incorrect VAT number on my invoice. I kindly asked support to make a correction in their system so I could generate the correct invoice. Steve, Manager of Support in Gumroad told me that they don't have capacities to correct invoices "because they have so many orders per day" + they can't change my data in their system because they don't store it - which is a lie, because this data *must* be stored somewhere (after clicking "Generate invoice" button, my VAT number appears there!!!) In my entire career in IT business and online business I never had this kind of issue anywhere. Even big, big companies like GoDaddy, NameCheap, etc. were always happy to help me especially if it comes to paperwork (invoices, billings) and accounting stuff. Worst Post-Purchase Customer Experience EVER!

I'm sorry we can't provide unique invoices for all sales and I apologize for the inconvenience this caused you. I'm not sure if that warrants you trying to publicly damage our reputation or post rude comments on our Facebook page though? As I explained in my last email to you, you entered your VAT ID (incorrectly) at the time of purchase. You thus refunded yourself VAT at the time of checkout. As a result, the VAT ID showed up on your invoice. Until we have more than 2 employees working the support desk, we will not be able to customize invoices for customers, I'm afraid.

They deserve no stars . Mine is experience is as a buyer. I have a problem long story short. I had some problems buying brushes last week form Gumroad. I thought it was them and had received a refund for a couple purchases. Now before that I had bought a lot and I mean a lot. So I was refunded for 2 purchases which is in the comments that said they will refund if I had a problem. So then after they said they would refund me that suspended my account and I lost everything I bought the last 6 mos. They did refund me all my purchases. Now I am not able to get any updates on any items. So far it's really hard finding all these sellers. So today I found out it was my internet services showing that my internet was working fine when it was really not working. Now I know it was my fault. I sent a email asking for a reconsideration. No response so beware don’t ever ask for refund evening if they say that they will be happy to refund you from Gumroad. Now I know it’s my fault I feel bad that all them purchases are being taken from all the sellers. This is my experience. . hopefully it will help someone. I will never recommend them to anyone. Before this I was recommend to everyone that ask. Cause I am on alot of social websites. The really sad thing is I am a disabled person and drawing is the only thing that makes me happy. I got my simlus money and was trying to help out the sellers by buying from them. I am self teaching myself to draw. I just really upset and to be able to tell my story again hopefully it will help someone. I found a couple places they really care about customer service. The best to me is designcut. The more you buy the better discount you will get. To bad I didn't find them first. Cause I would have bought mostly from them. They are trying to help me out right now. The other are esty and creative market. I posted this on procreate forum and they gave a few more places sellfy and cubebrush. I have not tried them but alot if people on there are trying to help. There are still great customer service out there. I know gumroad is going to try to explain why they did this. But it will be up to you to decide. Again I hope this helps someone so they don't have to go threw this. I have been so upset that I ask to speak to a person but no phone calls. Just another thing for me to deal with. I have a husband that has congestive heart failure and he is only 49 years old. I was so excited everyday to see what was new on gumroad but they took that from me. You would think that since I had bought so much they would give me another chance. But no one will even respond. Ok I guess I vented enough. Hope this helps someone not to have to go threw what I did. Thank you for listening be safe with covid 19. After gumroad responded I know I didn't loss any money but I just really like gumroad it was one my favorite things to do. So it was not about the money. Which I did say I didn't lose any money that gumroad did give all my money back. The thing that made me upset is my favorite thing that I look forward to everyday. I can't find all of the sellers that I bought from so I can make sure I get updates. So I know I got my money but sometimes it's not about the money. Especially when you had someone so close to not knowing if they are going to make it. It's the little things that makes me happy. Especially with covid 19 not being able to go out. My husband and me are at high risk. So I everyone gumroad did give all my money back. That is why I want anyone who likes gumroad not to be stupid just buy if something doesn't work just shoutup and just accept. If i could do over I would just accept my issues. Which again was my fault to a point. I went off on my internet that they made me lose something that made me happy. But unless you are in my shoes you will not understand. Just like I said gumroad would respond. So again just make your decision for yourself. I am just telling my story. I am not being mean just letting people know my story. Thank again for your time. Also please find things to be happy with and don't be stupid like me and mess them up. Also thank you trustpilot for letting me have a place to tell my story Just wish you would reconsider at least let me open another account. That way I could give back the sellers there money and back my brush packs. But I see that you are happy that you gave back all my which thank you I am happy for that. Just wanted my updates. Thank you for letting have my money. I just having problems finding sellers that I want to make sure I get my updates. Just one thing I am going to forward this to all sellers once I find them so they know I am not a scammer. Cause some were not responding. I think this will at least help. I have the time to find the sellers contact information so they know I am a good person and was not scramming them. Omg if I didn't feel bad enough. I just got a email from a seller saying that they think I cheated them.i was going to go and buy the item again.

I apologize for the treatment you received from Gumroad, but our payment partners noticed many discrepancies and behaviors on your sales that led them to believe your sales were fraudulent. It's really a simple, unfortunate situation. Our payment partners often see fraud where there isn't any fraud. I'm sure many of us can relate - receiving text messages from our banks that normal purchases we've made on our credit cards have been flagged. Since we are a small company, we don't get to double-check or question the decisions of our payment partners. As a result, we refunded 100% of the money you spent on Gumroad and closed your account. You did not lose any money on these transactions. You simply seem to have lost a lot of time over this, and I'm sorry for that.

I have no idea what this is in regards to, but feel free to email us for help if we're somehow involved in your email inbox getting clogged.

Gumroad was not only difficult for my customers to initially use (they were unable to process the payment for two of my pre-order customers) but two days after my products launched (and with $600 in sales) they closed my account without notice and refunded all of my customers. They stated their algorithm detected fraudulent activity but they don't provide any way to contest the issue and they are keeping our account shut down. We know everyone who purchased our products so it is a bit absurd that they detected fraud. I would NEVER SUGGEST ANYONE USE GUMROAD. They have awful customer service which can be summed up as "screw off, this is our policy/process."

Trash service. They steal your money, suspend your account, and there is nothing much you can do about it. I highly not recommend Gumroad.

Apologies if your experience with Gumroad was less than pleasant, but we 1) Don't steal money - it was refunded to your customers if your account was suspended 2) Suspend accounts based on a pretty detailed, understandable set of criteria, as explained in our TOS and Help Center. As long as your account is compliant, you can sell with us, and get paid, as over 50,000 creators currently do.
