For some reason long time ago I checked this site, created account (possibly via Facebook connection) and today I am checking Paypal - there is $20 paid for nothing (?) the year I created account. Kaspersky Safe Browser does not allow me to open site and Virus Total shows malware (probaby cookie)? Disappointing...

Gumroad.com is definitely a safe site, sorry. I'm not sure what URL you're looking at? Please email [email protected] and we can help you track down this charge.

I am not sure what's going
I am not sure what's going. I have had a pending $22.00 payment since sept 16 th I was under a review for 3 weeks then I got another sell as soon as I got the next sell I received an email saying fraud was done with a stolen card from a customer and the removed that payment out of my gumroad account then they sent me another notice saying they couldn't let me sell my digital product because it dont follow their rules and that they are closing my account but will pay me for my Sept 16th payment on Oct 9th. I didn't receive nothing. I reached out to them they said they apologize and I wouldn't get paid this week . I would have to make a sale in which I did. This is the worst experience for $22.00 ever.

Sorry this wasn't made clear in our email exchange - if you are selling products that violate our ToS, we have to hold your payment for at least 30 days.

As a consumer I bought a digital comic
As a consumer I bought a digital comic. Immediately after I received numerous fraudulent charges for " facebook" ads. FB has never had my card info. Gumroad sold my card info. It's been hell disputing all of these small numerous charges. I just wanted to support a talented artist, it's unfortunate that they chose to use Gumroad which is a scammy platform

Hi!
I'm sorry that your card details were stolen, but we had nothing to do with this. Your card details were likely compromised some point in the past, and they were later used to pay for FB ads. The fact that you bought a product on our site prior to these fraudulent charges is an unfortunate coincidence, I'm afraid.

Hi Steven! We explain our payout policies here:
https://help.gumroad.com/article/13-getting-paid
Due to COVID we've experienced a surge in new accounts (5000+) while our risk review team - the team that handles processing and reviewing all new accounts, has stayed the same size. Thus, there's a bit of a review bottleneck.
Reviews have historically taken 1-3 weeks after your first sales, so 2 weeks is pretty on point though. I'm sorry you haven't been paid yet, and thank you for your patience.

Send Gumroad CEO to Guntamo bay
Updated 8 Aug 2018.
- Steve replied that, "uploading nothing" is a vendor mistake, so tell me, this mistake has been going on for months and months.
- Libel and Slander is being posted, but it's not taken down. So, if Truebones slander you on the Gumroad posts and pages, it's not taken down. A court-case and injunction is needed.
--------------------------
Send Gumroad CEO to Guantanamo bay.
I want to talk about a certain seller, Truebones who sells JPGs, text files which contains list of links, has multiple DMCA notices sent to him, sells vaporware (sell nothing as a store item), and still on Gumroad.
According to Gumroad TOS -- "If we were to be audited by a government agency, we would have no way of explaining what our users are processing money through our servers for. The logical jump for law enforcement from that point is that we are unwittingly helping fund organized crime or terror. And then, before you know it, Gumroad's staff is bunking at Guantanamo Bay for the foreseeable future.
So according to Gumroad, selling a JPEG file is legal, such that any attempts to take-down that seller, despite having multiple DMCA notices on him, is still up and selling JPEGs on Gumroad.
According to Gumroad, they take action on the users who have DMCA notices posted to their products, but not Truebones.
According to Gumroad, they take action on users who sell fake products, but not Truebones.
According to Gumroad, they take action on the users on this page (account: doglas), but not on Truebones.
According to Gumroad, they ban stores that constantly harass, slander their customers, but not Truebones.
Truebones has more than 6 accounts removed from Youtube, including one which mentions:
"This account has been terminated due to multiple or severe violations of YouTube's policy prohibiting content designed to harass, bully or threaten."
Why is that? What is necessary to remove this store that sells nonsense on Gumroad?

What do you guys think about this reply? WORST COSTUMER SUPPORT EVER?
If you're on a free plan, why would you be paying us anything? Ever?
Again, read how the tiers work: ***************(I included dots here because trustpilot doesn't allow links -- don't reply with *we gave him the link, he is lie'* ty)
You are asking a question about free customers, which is SPECIFICALLY answered on that page.
If you are using the free plan, ONLY to give away products, then we suggest you just use Dropbox or Google Drive.
Best,
Steve, Manager of Support Gumroad

Happy to clarify!
We directed Anupam to the Help Center in a previous email, and it appeared that they missed the answer to their questions in the very top of that page.

California Dreamers
This bunch of Californian hipsters probably spend more time acting cool and checking their iPhones than taking care of customers.
I purchased a digital book via them but I didn’t receive a download link. I contacted them through PayPal (and via my own email) to find out what had happened. My contact via Paypal opened a dispute.
3 days later I got a direct response saying to check my Junk folder. Nothing in there so I asked for another link. I received a link but it didn’t work.
I was told the link wouldn’t work until I dropped the PayPal dispute. This is how disputes work they told me (total BS). I challenged this and eventually I asked for a refund. Again, no refund until I drop the case.
Obviously, if I drop the case I cannot open it again if Gumroad fail to refund.
And that’s how it stayed until it went to resolution, no goods or refund until I drop the case. Not once did Gumroad reply to the PayPal dispute. Totally unprofessional.
PayPal quickly found in my favour and refunded me promptly, I’m guessing this isn’t the first time these jokers have tried this.
Recommend Gumroad? Dream on…
PS. Here’s a typical response from Steve, Manager of Gumroad Support
From: Gumroad Support xxx> Subject: Re: No receipt Date: 8 July 2020 at 05:33:01 BST To: S J xxx> Cc: xxxx If you want a refund or a functioning download link, you can cancel the dispute. If you had cancelled the dispute yesterday, you would have had the files by now. Best, Steve, Manager of Support Gumroad How would you rate my reply? Great Okay Not Good
*update in response to reply*
Funny that you've updated your response 5 or 6 times now lol. I think this section says everything we need to know about Gumroad (just incase you delete it on subsequent revisions). So many disputes to deal with...I wonder why?
"To be sure, customers issue disputes against us in PayPal all the time. We ask them to cancel their disputes all the time. When they do, we refund them or get them download links."
Response from GumroadJul 22, 2020
Happy to clarify the situation!
We are quite clear in our emails that when you as a customer issue a dispute with PayPal, Paypal takes the sales money out of our accounts, meaning the sale is effectively refunded.
Thus, unless you cancel the dispute:
1) We cannot issue a refund on our end
2) We cannot provide you with a functioning download link
We tried to convey this information to Steve in the voluminous correspondence we shared with him, but he insisted on receiving the download link, or the refund, neither of which we could accommodate given the above situation.
As he says in his review - we provided him with his receipt and (non-functioning) download link, informing him that it wouldn't work unless he cancelled the dispute. He didn't cancel the dispute.
We clarified this point in numerous follow up emails, only to be met with more and more aggressive responses.
I'm not sure what company burned Steve in the past, leading him to believe that we were trying to steal his money, but I guarantee that we were not intending to get into a standoff like this when he first wrote in. Unfortunately, since we were unable to meet his exact demands to the dispute, this is where we find ourselves.
To be sure, customers issue disputes against us in PayPal all the time. We ask them to cancel their disputes all the time. When they do, we refund them or get them download links.
If we were actively trying to defraud customers on PayPal through an extremely transparent and time-intensive scam like this, PayPal would have kicked us off of their platform by now. Since we are still processing thousands of dollars through PayPal every day, and have been doing so since 2015, it is safe to assume that this is not the case.
