Family bought a sofa 2yr ago. Fabric is ripped after already having it repaired once. Paid $300 for this coverage and it does NOT cover manufacturer defects. Guardsmen is a scam, claims to cover almost anything then hidden in the SIXTEEN PAGE contract is all the relevant information (ie how they cover f*** all). Thank you for wasting my families hard earned money

I paid $279 for the Gold PLAN on a sofa and chair. Chair was damaged in a move and I called right away, but damage during a move is not covered. Of course I was led to believe nearly Anything would be quickly taken care of. TOTAL SCAM!

The insurance you have purchased is designed to cover for sudden and unforeseen damage that occurs in a single incident of staining, accidental damage defined as sudden and unintentional damage to the product as shown in the coverage section on the front of your certificate. We do not cover any gradually occurring stains or damage(s). Based on all the evidence available to us from the details on the claim form you submitted, we have found that your insurance excludes cover for leather relaxing, stretching, creasing or a change in texture as this happens naturally to a product over time as per section 4.3 and 4.4 of your terms and conditions. In view of the above, we regret to advise that we are unable to process your claim further as the problem you have reported does not fall within the coverage provided by your insurance plan. We understand that you will be disappointed by our decision but trust you will appreciate the grounds on which it was taken. I’ve tried to make a claim but on the phone keep getting cut off. They do not reply to email or requests to access their portal. Reading the other reviews it looks like it would have been a waste of time anyway!

A sham company that should be investigated by the Department of Commerce. I wish I had a means short of judicial litigation to see what this company’s claim payout rate is. If you go to a furniture store that tries to sell you this coverage, show them the Trustpot rating and WALK OUT! The store that offers this is receiving a kick-back of some sort from Guardsman! Consumer awareness is key!

My recliner stopped working, in the reclined position, around the first of June 2023. I filed a claim on June 7, 2023. The service rep showed up a couple of weeks later and said I need a new motor. He ordered it right then. After a month I called to get the status and was told the part was never ordered. They ordered it then and told me to notify them when the part showed up. It is now October 4th and my chair is still not fixed and the part has never shown up. 4 months with a recliner stuck in the reclined position. A birthday party, a gender reveal party, company for a week, and several guests over the summer with a broken chair. Their customer service is horrible and the warranty is useless. Don’t waste your money.

Guardsman is misleading consumers grossly and with no shame. Their fine print exclusions dis-qualify all damages they claim to cover in their marketing brochure. Guardsman plan was sold to me along with my purchase of outdoor furniture from Chair King. The nice brochure said it covered rips/cuts/burns. When I made a claim about a rip from the dog, they denied it under their "misuse - animal damage" section. In fact, every possible cause of any cut/tear/burn is excluded from their coverage. The brochure also says that they cover burns and heat marks, but then the exclusions say that they do not cover such burns/heat marks that are caused by fire. What else these can be caused by? Their exclusions are very broad and basically dis-qualifies all damages they claim to cover on their brochure.

We bought a $10k leather sofa from Havertys on sale so lumped in the Guardsman 5 year unlimited protection plan. After 2 years one of the cushions discolored and started to come apart. We started a claim. After about 3 months a Guardsman representative came out and agreed that there's no way the cushion should have failed. After another 2 weeks we received a letter saying the claim was denied. I haven't pursued yet with Guardsman but will be seeking legal advice. I plan on taking them to court if need be. From this forum it sounds like a class action is possible. It will cost them a lot more than it would have if they had just accepted the legitimate claim.
