My first experience with Grow Therapy was a negative.
My first experience with Grow Therapy was disappointing. I chose a provider based on the many positive reviews and what appeared to be an accurate profile. After attending four sessions, however, my experience was very different from what I expected. I felt that the provider's profile did not accurately reflect the style of care I received. Throughout our sessions, I often felt dismissed to rather than listened to. Instead of feeling supported while discussing trauma, I left feeling criticized, demeaned, and emotionally distressed. I also believe she was heckling me when sharing experiences of what was happening to me. I also felt pressured to and bullied into booking additional sessions before I was comfortable deciding whether the therapy was helping me. On more than one occasion, I felt pressured into leaving a positive feedback about my experience, which made me uncomfortable. After ending treatment, I submitted a general, non-identifying 1-star review describing my experience. My review was not published, and I was not given an explanation. If my review was determined to violate Grow Therapy's review policy, I could not find clear information explaining what specifically would have violated the policy, and I was not provided with any explanation or update regarding why my review was rejected. I found that lack of transparency frustrating and unprofessional. Because I selected this provider largely based on positive reviews, having my own negative review rejected has made me question how representative the published reviews are. I cannot say how Grow Therapy moderates reviews overall, but my experience has left me with concerns about the transparency of its review process. This reflects only my personal experience. Based on what I experienced, I have concerns about the platform's transparency and would encourage prospective patients to evaluate providers carefully and consider multiple sources of information before making a decision.
