WARNING! NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. They quoted one price for multiple domestic packages and then charged $1,200 in surcharges after the fact. I think there is something wrong with their calculations during checkout. FRAUDULENT COMPANY. Their customer service is pretty much non-existent.
Response. It has nothing to do with the carrier. YOUR system does not quote properly. Look at the other reviews. Complete SCAM. I reached out last week and got one response. Your customer service needs a complete revamp.

Quoted at $87. charged at $162.
Quoted at 87. for a package to Australia. Better rate than USPS and several other carriers. Of course after delivery they come back with an additional 75. in charges for 'remote area' delivery and re-calculation of package size as they claimed it was 1" off. They automatically charged my card they had on file. Never using this outfit again.

Hello,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear about the unexpected charges after delivery. We completely understand how frustrating it is to receive a quote and then be charged significantly more after the fact, especially when the difference is automatically charged to your card without prior notice.
Post-delivery carrier adjustments (for factors like remote area fees or package size corrections) are unfortunately common in international shipping, but that doesn't make the surprise any less upsetting.
I have been able to find a support request that our team has been able to respond to, where we had a chance to send some extra details and offer a solution to alleviate the situation. Feel free to reach back out in that email thread if you need to follow up.
If we manage to resolve the matter to your satisfaction, we'd appreciate it if you could reconsider your grade here. We appreciate you giving us a chance to help.

Damage to shipment
I shipped 16 boxes from Arkansas to Maryland on July 31st 2026. It was an extremely painful experience. Not only did Shippo charge me for a box that was not shipped, because they had my credit card on file, they charged an additional $48 claiming that the size and weight of 8 boxes were incorrect. I used the same boxes for all 15 of the packages which was the Home Depot box size with the dimension 15X16X26. I wonder how 7 boxes were correct but 8 were not. The boxes came in opened, items were missing, some were broken, though I had fragile labels all over the boxes, The package arrived severely damaged. The outer cardboard carton was crushed, torn, punctured, and partially opened, with large sections of the box ripped apart and the contents exposed. The photographs show extensive deformation and tearing of the carton, including a large opening in the side and damage to the seams and panels. The contents had shifted inside the compromised carton and were no longer adequately protected. Several items were packed in plastic bags and were visibly displaced within the damaged box. The condition of the packaging indicates that the shipment sustained significant impact and/or compression during transit.
I retained the original damaged packaging and contents and can provide photographs and supporting documentation. I had purchased insurance on the packages from Xcover which was recommended on the Shippo Website but Xcover denied my claim stating that the boxes were not packaged correctly. Xcover said" Your box must have at least 2 inches (5cm) of approved cushioning material, such as EPE foam, moldable foam or air pillows, between the item and all six walls. Craft paper, newspaper, clothing and loose cardboard are not accepted. Multiple items must be individually wrapped with at least 2 inches (5cm) spacing between each so that items do not touch. Items over 10 lb (4.5kg) must include impact-resistant EPE foam at all exterior corners," This is the WORST experience I have ever had with shipping. I can provide pictures of the boxes.

Hello,
Thank you for sharing the details of your experience, and we're truly sorry to hear about the damage to your shipment and the frustration this has caused.
We want to clarify a few things: damage that occurs during carrier transit is the carrier's responsibility, provided Shippo is not directly transporting packages. Similarly, the packaging requirements and claim denial from XCover are determined by their insurance policy. That said, we absolutely understand your frustration with both the damage and the claim denial.
Regarding the $48 billing adjustment for the weight and dimension discrepancies on 8 of your 15 boxes, that's a separate carrier adjustment that we can review and dispute with supporting documentation.
We'd welcome the opportunity to help you file a damage claim with the carrier and investigate the billing surcharge. Please reach out to us directly with your tracking numbers and the photos you mentioned:

Our team will be more than glad to work with the carrier on your behalf.

Shippo charges a dollar or 2 extra for…
Shippo charges a dollar or 2 extra for a measly $125 package insurance, and when your package is damaged in transit, their 3rd party insurance provider will deny your claim! Stick to trustworthy providers like UPS

Shippo overbilled me thousands of $$ and won’t refund my money
Shippo billed my card for DHL “weight correction” surcharges and multiple other fees on international shipments from the US to the UK well after delivery — all undisclosed at purchase, unsupported by any documentation, and totaling over $2,200 in additional charges applied to my credit card across 17 shipments. When I asked for the underlying audit data, Shippo’s rep repeatedly requested I submit photographic proof of the weight and dimensions of each package (for already-delivered packages!) and claimed this was a contractual requirement — it is not. The Terms of Use have no such requirement— how could every business photograph every package on scales and with tape measures? Aburd. After 30 plus days of no response (and they refuse to speak to me on telephone) I’ve now had to open a formal dispute with my credit card company and am preparing to take legal action against Shippo. If you use Shippo for international shipping, expect to be rebilled after the fact for whatever amount they decide with no real recourse and no way way to obtain a response. I will never do business with Shippo and highly recommend you find other shipping platforms to use.

They are awful
They are awful. No customer service, and will lock you out of your account without notice. They can also prohibit you from downloading labels you have already paid for. If you are doing high volume shipments. STAY AWAY!!!
Refunds take 2 weeks, and can only be refunded as credits to your account. You will not get your money back.
Customer service is slow and virtually non existent.

Hi Hunter,
Thanks for taking the time to post this review. This does sound far from ideal, and definitely isn't how we'd like you to experience Shippo.
Based on your feedback here, I can see we may already be following up with you via email. We'll be following up on your refund request shortly.
I'd like to take the opportunity to clarify that we can definitely make refunds to your payment method, but this is a manual process that our team processes upon request.
We'd be happy to take care of you. If you are not already in touch with our support team, please help us submit a request through this link, referring to this review:

We appreciate the chance to make things right for you to the best of our ability.

I used it only 2 times and it charged…
I used it only 2 times and it charged me 4 times. This is crazy. Never happened with any other such service. No explaination given. No email. Nothing
Besides they do not have any customer care Phone Number. Feels like they purposely charge you then go in hiding so they can not be contacted. Also Seems it is not possible to block them from charging me wrongfully via my own financial institution. Seems such strongly managed fake work.
Response from ShippoJul 31, 2026
Hi Dolly,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your experience, and we understand how frustrating it is when you're waiting for a resolution on the carrier adjustments you've received.

Transparency around billing is important to us, and we're happy to help explain your invoice and any associated carrier adjustments so you have a clear understanding of the charges.
One of our specialists will be reaching out to you directly by email shortly with an update and to discuss your request in more detail.

Greedy company with poor customer service
Their shipping insurance covers nothing. If something happens with your insured shipment, they will do the best in cooperation with their Xcover insurance partner you never receive any insurance payment. They will ask you to provide a set of stupid documents as a proof that your shipment was lost or damaged, including police reports and results of investigation from a shipping carrier. Even if you try to collect all requested documents your insurance claim filling period will be expired by that time, cause they set very short period of time to file the claim. The only way to make get your money from them - dispute a transaction through your financial institution.
Response from ShippoJul 28, 2026
Hello Vladimir,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your experience with the insurance claims process. We understand how frustrating it can be when documentation requirements feel extensive, or timelines feel tight, especially when you're trying to resolve a loss.
Insurance claims do require specific documentation and come with filing deadlines, which we know isn't always convenient. That said, we'd welcome the opportunity to review your specific situation and see if there's anything we can help clarify or address.
Please reach out to us directly so we can take a closer look:
