This was my first experience going through Good Dog. I was able to find a pure-bred puppy from a breeder in my area. I really like how Good Dog takes a lot of the homework out by screening the breeders they choose and making sure everyone is happy. I would definitely recommend Good Dog to anyone!

A Platform for Irresponsible, Rude and Unprofessional Breeders
If you want to go through an emotionally traumatic experience, adopt a puppy from Good Dog. I was looking for a Basset Hound and found a breeder (Missy’s CKC Registered Basset Hounds in Tennessee specifically). I applied and was surprised my application immediately got accepted, considering most breeders prefer that you live in a house, not an apartment. We discussed the pickup date, payment, and she even sent me multiple photos of my puppy.
The first red flag was the fact that she gave me a puppy at just 6 weeks old. I did not realize this until picking him up and looking at his records to see his actual birthday. This obviously is too early to be separated from the mother and goes against Good Dog’s 7 week policy, as well.
The second red flag, which unfortunately I was too naive to catch, was that she wanted payment through Paypal as a “friends and family” transaction.
Everything seemed to be going smoothly until I had my first night with my new puppy. I soon realized I did not have the time to keep a puppy on a consistent schedule, and an apartment was not fit for him either. This was my fault, as I rushed into a big decision without enough careful thought.
I was in love with my puppy, and it broke my heart to have to find him a new home. However, I wanted what was best for him too. The first step I took was to reach out to Missy and explain the situation. I apologized and asked for her to either help me list him or take him back. She failed to respond for multiple days. Once she did, she avoided the actual question and never helped me until I said that she needed to help me or I would be reaching out to Good Dog. Good Dog’s policy also states that the breeder is obligated to help with rehoming and must take the puppy back.
She soon responded and became very aggressive. She insisted that I had no idea what I was talking about and denied doing anything wrong. She also said her hands were tied and she couldn’t take the puppy back. Apparently, she had used all of the money to make a payment on her truck. Her only “help” was telling me to reach out to friends and family.
Meanwhile, I had been meeting with several families to see if I could find a good fit for my puppy, as the breeder was zero help to me. I finally found a family who was the perfect fit for him; however, I still lost all of my money. I finally reached out to Good Dog and explained the breeder’s rude and unprofessional attitude, all of the policies she had broken and asked for at least a partial refund. They did not seem to care and denied the refund. They also asked me to send them screenshots of the messages between the breeder and I so they could investigate further. They never did anything about it when I did send them all of our messages, and they just sent back an automated response. Good Dog has policies that aren’t taken seriously, nor do they care when those policies are broken. It is a platform for rude and irresponsible breeders.

A&M Dachshund Den
I adopted a miniature dachshund puppy through Good Dog. I decided upon A&M Dachshund Den. The breeders Alisa and her husband were so nice and wonderful. Met with us, let us meet the parents, and my little guy is doing so well with my other dachshund puppy at home. I highly recommend Good dog and the breeder. Wonderful people with good hearts and healthy puppies. I work as a Certified Veterinary Technician and would send anyone their way!!

Good Dog is a joke and liars
I use to love and support Good Dog but just recently I got an email that they were deleting my program because I have bred my color females with a Merle. All health tested and proven. They didn’t have a policy on Merle’s when I joined 4-5 years ago, I even asked and was told no they allowed them and I was fine. They say they do not recognize Bulldog Merles but they recognize mutts!!! What a joke!!! I have advertised and promoted them and also got over 10 breeders to join and this is how they treat their big helping ethical breeders.

Hi Angela,
We’re glad that a member of our team was already able to connect with you previously over the phone and via email regarding Good Dog’s Policy on Merles, and how it may apply to an individual breeding program. You can read our merle policy here: https://www.gooddog.com/good-breeder-center/good-dogs-policy-on-merles
We hope this helps answer any remaining questions you have. We continue to wish you and your program nothing but the best.

Helpful & Personable Resource …
Several people from Good Dog corresponded with me.
All were extremely helpful and checked up to see if I had located any breeders.
I will certainly use them as a resource again.
