Got a terrible experience with them. Eventually, I've got 0 for my exam because someone reported that I used not allowed accommodations, although I did not. I contacted my institution and told them that proctoru provided incorrect information and insist on obtaining the video of the exam. At this moment the case is not resolved yet

ProctorU is TERRIBLE and nobody should…
ProctorU is TERRIBLE and nobody should use it if you don't have to. It messes with your whole computer and the proctors are disruptive during exams asking me to "move my camera down more" mid exam. I understand they have guidelines but these guidelines are too strict and very disruptive.

I would give it zero stars if I could.
I would give it zero stars if I could.
First of all, no Linux support. I have a state of the art laptop that runs on Linux but I couldn't use that one for the test, I had to use an older Windows machine.
Second, my first proctor (Clyde P) fumbled around for about 35 minutes, and then disconnected without any warnings. Had I not had the common sense to restart the download of the chat box, I would've lost my exam chance. The development team of this software should be ashamed of the product they've made and how they're running it
And, whoever owns TOEFL(or any similar exams) can use this dumpster fire of an app all they want because they have a monopoly on ESL tests and they can do whatever the hell they want

I have never hated anything so much as I hate Proctoru.
This is the most thoroughly unpleasant experience I have had for a LONG time.
I ran all the diagnostic and calibration checks on their website the day before & the day of the exam and everything was fine.
I logged on at 11:38 for an 11:40 start time but was unable to start the exam for technical reasons. After being transferred back and forwards endlessly from technician to proctor with the exact same issue it was 13:24 but the time that I was finally ready to begin an exam.
I was apoplectic with rage, sweating all over from sheer fury. My girlfriend took a day off so she could leave our 1 bed flat to go out whilst I took my ACCA exam. Because the exam started so late she had to stay out the flat in the cold where everything is closed for Covid for almost 4 hours.
I failed my exam. Now I'm not going to say it was purely because of Proctoru, clearly if I'd done more reading I would have passed a 50% pass mark exam.
But my question to you is do you think that the best conditions for an exam are having a hoarse throat from shouting (not at anyone I hasten to add), being so furious that I'm sweating all over, and having half a mind on getting through the test as quickly as possible so I can rescue my girlfriend from the cold local park?
Given there are over 230 reviews in a similar vein I doubt that Proctoru will do anything but I would reccommend if there is ANY other option open to an institution / end user that you take that. Even with no research or consideration into the decision you'd be making a better decision than using Proctoru

Stressful, dreadful, a nightmare
I have an horrendous and awful experience regarding taking an Exam with Proctoru. When I get on the exam I literally had to wait for 30 minutes to almost an hour for the technicians and proctors to get my exam started. You lose all your privacy. You can not read the questions out loud and it feels like a prison. During the middle of the exam when I was working on this giant chart my camera had went off on me and the proctor literally closed my exam window. I had to wait for another 10-15 minutes to get back on the exam. By the time I got back on the exam the remaining questions I forgot how to do plus I was stressed about facing another technology issue. The exam literally took me more than two hours. None of the proctors or technicians do their job properly. After finishing the exam I was so furious.

Very unsafe, RIP privacy
The only reason this software has 1 star score is that you can't vote 0 star.

ProctorU is terrible
I had a terrible experience with ProctorU. I was kicked out of my exam when I was almost finished and spent 45 minutes waiting for help. When I finally got to talk to someone, she took control of my screen and mouse and it took her another 15 minutes to ask me what happened. While all this was going on my timed exam expired and 10 minutes later she said there was nothing she could do because the exam was already expired. She suggested I ask my professor to retake the exam. A pretty great suggestion if you ask me.

ProctorU: creepy, unhelpful, and untrustworthy.
An unbelievably creepy business, and one whose use is unfortunately mandated by my university. To take an exam in-person at a school, you just give your student ID. To take an exam with ProctorU, you have to give the proctor complete access AND control of your computer (they can look at all of your personal files if they so wish), including microphone and webcam; you also have to install a new instance of their software for every single exam you take (which can be quite a few for some classes). In addition to this extreme level of invasiveness (hope you don't have any credit card/social security info stored on your computer), the proctors are frequently rude and, at best, disinterested. If the proctor loses their internet connection to you (which has happened to me several times), they'll often force you to stop your progress on the exam while they reconnect you -- without pausing the exam timer. Did I mention that every single exam costs at least $15, which (at least at LSU) students have to pay out-of-pocket? If you have a professor that tries to force you to use ProctorU, I recommend emailing them to air your grievances -- or maybe write the school's legal department an email instead. Institutions of higher education that not only fail to be responsible with the entrusted use of their students personal data, but actively place that data in the hands of potentially malicious third parties, should not themselves be trusted.
