After hitting a few of the shortcomings in a paid Duolingo subscription, an on-line search led me to Laura's site. Laura's free 1-hour sample will give you a good idea of her approach. Before you pay, she tells you "learning German is hard!" She is not exaggerating... however, her approach is, imo, the best if your intent is to actually learn, speak, read and write the language properly, not just hack your way through it. Instead of diving in and learning words... and guessing your way through use of language elements, Laura teaches you the basic foundations, or principles of the language so that you understand the "why" and the "how" to get to the proper phrasing. German is a very complex language, I am about halfway through the first paid course, and I already know I will be taking the second. After that, I am going to make the investment in on-line instruction.

I am a native English speaker, and I have been living in Germany for 3 years. And during this time I have taken up to A2 German classes. I struggled with grasping the concept of Dative and Akkusitive cases, and no matter how the cases were explained, nothing made sense, and nothing stuck. Until I found Laura's course. I realized that for 3 years, German grammar was ONLY explained to me by German professors. As a native English speaker, I had a different grammar foundation then them, so it was never explained in a way that I understood. My advice I would give is, if you are a native English speaker wanting to learn German, have German grammar explained by a native English speaker. It changes EVERYTHING.

Get this course! Whether you: 1) Are new to German - this course is what you need because, as the name says, it sets the Foundation that you want and need moving forward. 2) Have been studying German already - this course will clear up those confusions we inevitably face, and get you on the right track to advance. I've seen a fair amount of German learning materials and methods before - but this course is unique in explaining how German works. Laura has created an innovative approach that makes sense - and works!

Laura makes learning German much easier than any other site or App I've tried. She simplifies the complexity and provides very useful information and tools to assist the language learning experience.

A very good introduction to basic German grammar. Laura has found her own system here. The disadvantage is that only parts of the course are useful for those who have studied German before. I myself am A2 and then you know concepts such as Gender, Case, Accusative and Dative. I benefited from about half of the lessons, the rest was just repetition of things I already knew. My German level is appr. A2.1 If I had done the course ten months ago, the grade would have been 5 stars.
