pragmatic course

Be aware I have only just started the course [module 1] but am loving the clear and methodical approach which has already gone a long way to demystify the noun gender issue. Great exercises to test my comprehension. Also impressed with the "Discussion" option. Answers are always received very promptly with bags of encouragement. I didn't quite see enough information about how far this course will take me. I was sucked in by the free "unblocking" course but ,after doing that, I was confident enough to take a punt and pay for "Foundations1" and haven't regretted it. Some reviews say it's expensive but I think it stands up well against other paid courses. Having run into the buffers with Duolingo after a 6 month long daily session [great to start with] I concluded I needed to get to grips with the grammar [absent on Duo] before I could get further benefit from a free app learning system. Anyway, Laura is fun. I hope I don't have to invest in too many courses before I can return to a free "immersive" system. After all, I am learning this language recreationally, because most of my holidays are in Germany/Austria/Switzerland and would like to "make the effort" I don't aspire one of those Brits. who just shout slowly and loudly in English.

Laura's teaching style is exactly what I seek, however, the pricing is an issue. For instance, with an average salary of $300 a month in my country, it's not feasible to spend on a course while still affording basic necessities like food and shelter. This makes piracy a common solution for many. Regional discounts could be a solution to make the course more affordable for people in areas with lower average salaries. For example, Laura could offer a discount to students in certain countries where the average salary is lower, or she could offer a discount to students in specific regions where the cost of living is lower. This could make the course more accessible and affordable for a wider range of people. To prevent people from taking advantage of the regional discount when they don't deserve it, the following measures could be taken: Verification process: Requiring proof of residency (Phone Number for example) for the discount could ensure that only those who truly need it are receiving it. IP tracking: Using IP tracking to determine the location of the user could prevent individuals from accessing the course from a different region and taking advantage of the discount. Terms of Use agreement: Including a clause in the terms of use agreement that states that attempting to take advantage of the discount in an unauthorized manner is grounds for termination of access to the course could serve as a deterrent.

I find the lessons easy to follow and I get answers to my questions in a timely manner. This course is covering information I didn't have explained in my Babble course. I find that the two work well for me. Looking forward to seeing what the next course has to offer.

In an ideal world, you'd do this course before opening up a German book, to be honest. Delivered with lectures, practice notes and feedback in forums, you can see the jigsaw puzzles pieces filling in where blanks in understanding and unanswered questions formerly lurked. Laura does this with gentle hand-holding, from nouns and slots, determiners, before easing us into the concept of cases. She uses the analogy of 'stones' in showing us how the various words and their endings have to be shaped to fit each other. In addition to this, Laura gives us a lot of tools. A guide chart for words and their endings (so we can know the genders), noun plurals (with a system how to figure out which endings to use). There's also practice, practice practice. This via video (her course), the accompanying online book, and the feedback in the group. The course is well worth the money, especially if you're an English speaker who's shaky about grammar, but knows that you need this to make a good fist of the language. Well worth the money.

Excellent course. Laura's chart and videos are very helpful and present a different way of learning what are usually quite tideous tables for articles and cases.
