For your own peace of mind, make sure to communicate on a recorded line whenever possible. The customer service is extremely poor, and the staff have demonstrated high-conflict behavior and dishonesty.

Buyer Beware! This company has many good reviews. So, I felt comfortable doing business with them. But, I had an experience that I feel should be shared to help prospective customers. Their website describes a 1.48 carat round emerald specifically as Columbian, vivid green, VSI, untreated and excellent cut. All the most desirable attributes of an exceptional stone. It is priced accordingly at over $34,000. The website includes a standard AGL report that confirmed it was Colombian and untreated. But, the report was not clear on the other claimed attributes. As a precaution, I requested and paid for an AGL Prestige Rating Report. This report also confirmed the stone was Colombian, untreated and an excellent cut. HOWEVER, on two most important attributes it was vastly different from the company's description. The report stated the stone was "Highly Included" not VSI as stated on the website. And it stated just "Green" not Vivid Green as stated on website. When I questioned the discrepancies, I was informed that the company stands by their representations of the stone because they use their own grading system. However, in my opinion the true value of the stone is predicated on the AGL report not an arbitrary website company description. So that is my "Buyer Beware"... do your due diligence before buying from this company. To me, this was misleading and in fact I consider it deceptive. Incidentally, as a result of what I considered deceptive advertising I requested a refund of the $500 AGL report fee. I was told there was no deception and that I was aware the fee was not refundable. No refund. Not what I expected from such a highly rated company FOLLOW UP reply to the Sellers comments: Everything seller says in their reply is accurate regarding communications with me... they did advise me that the AGL report I requested may not describe the stone in the same way they described it since they use their own rating system. That is EXACTLY why I ordered the AGL report. Bottom line - Heavily Included as reported on the AGL report is not VSI (Very Slightly Included) as claimed in the website description - this is a big difference. And, claiming the color is Vivid Green when AGL states GREEN (3.0 grade) is misleading to the lay consumer.

Thank you for sharing your experience. However, we believe additional context is very important for prospective customers. Prior to ordering the AGL Prestige Report, you specifically raised concerns about how our grading descriptions might compare to AGL's grading methodology. In response, we explained that colored gemstones do not have a universally standardized grading system and that our color and clarity descriptions rely on our internal grading criteria, which is listed on our website. We also specifically advised that this stone was not the highest color grade within our system, as our top color designation is "Intense Green," while this gemstone was graded by us as "Vivid Green", which is one color shade lower." Because you wanted additional independent verification before purchasing, you requested that the gemstone be submitted to AGL for a Non-Refundable Prestige Grading Report. We accommodated that request and provided the report exactly as issued by the laboratory. Prior to requesting the report, we also encouraged you to view the gemstone in person and take advantage of our complimentary 30-day inspection period. Our recommendation was that you evaluate the emerald firsthand, consult any gemologists or appraisers of your choosing, and return it for a full refund if it did not meet your expectations. This option would have allowed you to assess the stone under real-world viewing conditions without incurring the cost of an additional laboratory report. The AGL Prestige Report confirmed Colombian origin, no clarity enhancement, and awarded Excellent grades for cutting and finish. Importantly, AGL also assigned the gemstone an overall rating of Excellent, which is the highest overall assessment within their Prestige system. For an untreated Colombian emerald, these are highly desirable characteristics and were consistent with our assessment that this was an exceptional gemstone. In addition, AGL graded this emerald's color a 3 in their scale, which is inline with being second best color grading in both our scales. We also explained the clarity grade in both AGL and our scales were the same, just the nomenclature was different. We even advised you to consult with AGL directly, which you refused to do. Your review relied heavily on an AI-generated interpretation of the report. While AI tools can be useful for summarizing information, they do not necessarily reflect the nuances of colored gemstone grading or the fact that different grading systems use different methodologies and terminology. The distinctions between our grading system and AGL's methodology were discussed before the report was ordered and were not new information discovered afterward. We respect your decision not to proceed with the purchase. However, we respectfully disagree with the characterization that the gemstone was misrepresented, particularly given the extensive discussions that took place before the report was commissioned and the transparency provided throughout the process.

Purchased an emerald in 2022 from GemsNY in 2022 and had a platinum setting made. After only 2 months of wear the baguette diamond fell out of one side. And of course was not covered under their warranty as they say they only cover the setting. Spent several hundred dollars sending it back, and had to pay to replace the diamond as I did not want to make an insurance claim so soon. It is now April and the other diamond is loose and about to fall out of setting. Luckily she noticed before it fell out. Do not waste your money with this company. Their customer service is great when you are purchasing but horrendous thereafter. Beautiful ring but horrible quality setting and no effort from this company to remedy.

We are sorry to hear about your experience. Our team has sent you a prepaid label to inspect the ring and tighten stone, which is covered under our warranty. As we strive for 100% satisfaction, I see the team has also offered to provide a full refund on the setting to keep you happy. Please note that this ring was purchased in 2021 and you contacted us a year later in 2022 about a lost diamond. We did inspect the ring and did not find any structural issue. However, we did agree to replace the stone at our cost and there was no charge for resetting the gem or the ring polish. You were very happy with the outcome at the time. We look forward to hearing from you to getting the ring repaired and back on her hand!

I tried to buy my wife a birthday present on line and GemsNY was not helpful. I needed help with a stone selection and Vishal "was not available". He is one of the owners and sales manager so I was disappointed that the "customer service" and advice on a stone was no longer available. I have bought several large pieces from Vishal/GemsNY and I will not try to buy from GemsNY again. Very disturbing that a longtime, loyal customer is no longer of any value. Guess Vishal/GemysNY had a great 2020 and revenue and repeat customers are not his concern.

We are so sorry to hear you were not able to to reach Vishal directly. We value all of our customers and try to provide the best service we can. All of our gemologists on staff can provide advice on stones. Since we own all of our stones, it is very easy for us to provide detailed hands on analysis of each stone. Please do contact Vishal at 888-436-7692 as he would like to discuss the matter with you and issue an apology for not being reachable directly.

Called to create a custom ring with a $50k sapphire. They made no attempt to even hear what the design was, repeating that it was impossible unless I had a picture of it. Since it's not something that I have ever seen, I have no picture of it. "You can't even google it?" No, there is nothing like what I want to design out there. "It's not that hard, you should just google it. We won't bother without a picture." Well, gee, if it was out there, then I would just buy it instead of dealing with a self absorbed jerk. Everything is final sale (ie good luck if they mess up) and they refused to make plastic molds to assist with the process. Hundreds of dollars he says, it'll cost more than the ring. Basic math: $50k / $200 = 250. You would have to mess up a couple hundred times and then some to cost more than the gemstone alone. Then he hung up. Horrible business practices.

I do not appreciate the way this establishment does business. I purchased an emerald that was of terrible quality. The person (Ernie) I dealt with mentioned it was great did not advice as to the inclusions. It had air bubbles all over it and looked more like a cheap plastic knock off. I asked for a refund (over $3200) however they disputed and opted for a store credit. Basically, they force me to purchase from them. I do not want to purchase another cheap piece of jewelry. I think I can save a load of money by going on vacation next time to Colombia and purchase emeralds from the source. With regards to the GemsNY response. First, please do not run to your legal statements on the website (buyer beware). Also in no way does any of the stock images show the significant inclusions on the 'emerald' I purchased. Also, in no circumstances was I mentioned that the ring was non-refundable by Ernie. Your trade up option (purchase an item at least $3500 in value to get a credit) is a Win-Lose proposition. I need to spend another $600 to get a $2900 store credit? Are you for serious? As of now, this merchant has the ring and also a free $3200 in credit. Nice way of doing business. I should have been more cautious of the 'gamed' online reviews before purchasing. Buyer beware!

Hi Mohammad Ayaz Haniffa, We are sorry you are not happy with the emerald ring you ordered. As was mentioned to you and listed on our site, all emeralds have visible imperfections with the naked eye and are the most visibly included gemstones that exist. The emerald you purchased was a large size (3ct+) but of average clarity, as listed on the details page of the ring. We list all characteristics of the gems purchased, which allows customers to know what they are receiving. The imperfections were also visible on the image of the gem provided to you. Unfortunately, we were not able to issue a refund because you purchased a non-returnable item. Despite Ernie cautioning you that engraved jewelry is not returnable (just as our site explains very clearly), you opted to have it engraved. He went as far as to recommend that you purchase the ring and then have the ring engraved locally if everything works out well, just so you had the option to return. To be clear, Ernie did not take your order - after your discussions with him, you placed the order yourself online where you saw the following message when you clicked to enter your engraving: “Please Note: Engraved items are not returnable…” Furthermore, in order to complete your order you actively checked the following box: “I understand rings with engraving are not returnable. I confirm that I have read and understand GemsNY's return policy.” In the end, we presented our Trade-up option so you could exchange it and provided you the best deal possible. We have made every accommodation to help you and are happy to assist you in resolving the matter.
