Geartrade is VERY Clunky
I recently tried to sell an item on GearTrade and found the process quite difficult. It's a VERY clunky and frustrating App to navigate. I put the same item in Marketplace, which was SO much easier in every respect.

Rec'd a tracking number for my purchase that showed delivery TO ANOTHER STATE..... DELIVERED MORE THAN 3 Weeks before my purchase date. I tried contacting GearTrade three separate times with no response. I finally filed a claimed with PayPal, THEN I hear from them. They said the tracking number was a "recycled" number, to be patient and it would take from 24-48 hrs. to update (which it never did). Well, my item did arrived, and that was the correct tracking number (weird). I the pants I ordered were in excellent condition. My complaint is that it took so long for them to respond to my emails. We're talking days, not hours. Very poor way to run a business. Very Unprofessional. Sadly, I will not be a repeat customer.

Theresa, We are so sorry for the delay. We just used the 'request more information' function from Trustpilot so we can reach out to you directly and see if there was an issue with our email system. We are very diligent about responding to all customer service emails within 18-36 hours (max), so we hope there wasn't an email deliverability issue. We hope we can make this up to you and will be in touch as soon as we get your email address! Thanks for your business and understanding, Geartrade.com

Hit or miss. No measurements are included so you have to dig and search for manufacturer’s sizing charts and they’re not always accurate. I received an item that was listed incorrectly. We worked something out. A large women’s cycling Jersey was maybe a large juvenile. It wasn’t even a woman’s small. That said I’ve gotten great deals on items that still have their tags. I don’t recommend buying clothes from unfamiliar brands or relying on manufacturer’s size charts. Sizing is all over the place, they would have me buying clothes again if they simply listed or showed a photo with a tape measurer going across the chest, waist, and inseam. I’m glad they exist, I hope they figure out sizing. I have three shirts now that don’t fit. I might try to sell them as a seller.

Overall seems to be a great company, with lots of great clothing, gear, and parts for sale. I feel as if 17-20% is an unbelievably high commission rate for an online platform. Most in person outdoor used stores, will only take 25% commission. For this reason, I will probably sell most items else where, such as Requipper (7%) or Facebook (0%).

Joshua, Thanks for your feedback. We understand your concern. As you sell more with us, we do lower your commission rate per our rewards/loyalty program here: https://www.geartrade.com/helpdesk/our-policies/rewards-policy Our regular sellers only get charged 13% commission. Unlike other marketplaces, we only charge the commission on the purchase price of the item - we do not charge commission on the shipping or tax like all major marketplaces, so we end up being a bit cheaper. We also advertise our individual sellers gear on a handful of platforms; something most major marketplaces do not do. As we grow, we hope we can offer our sellers greater discounts. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you and have a great evening!

A few years back it was decent. You could find good stuff at a decent price. Not sure what happened but when I go on there now I see people trying to get top dollar for used gear. Occasionally I'll see people trying to sell gear for more than it would cost in a shop. I guess folks get ripped off because they don't know any better then turn around and try to do the same to someone else.

Christian, Used gear is starting to become more expensive as people see the value in re-use. Some people also have an over-inflated value of their gear, so we are creating a solution for this. We are working on a tool to help sellers price their gear correctly and more reasonably. The new site should be live in just a few days, so check back soon. We will have more gear coming in that is priced right.

I bought this as a birthday gift for my grandson. This is quite the contraption. He is very excited about it, even though it is not his birthday yet. My only issue with it is that it could have come in nicer packaging, instead of just a bag being that the price of it was not cheap. Other than that, I will write again and let you know how he likes it.

I'll let that seller know to improve upon their packaging. Thanks for the feedback.

Just like Backcountry's awesome return policy for snowboards was destroyed by idiots abusing it, a similar thing has started to happen to Geartrade. Once a great place to get returns from Backcountry at fantastic prices, now small board shops are listing all of their new inventory on Geartrade. I have bought close to 10 boards in the past few years from Geartrade, but I don't even bother to visit the site anymore with all the full price new gear you have to wade through.. Sad.

Sorry you haven't been able to find what you're looking for on the cheap. We still have over 800 items over 80% Off so there are still some good deals floating around.

I had a question about the sizing of the pack, and it was answered soon after. I then placed the order and I'm still waiting for it to arrive. I hope it arrives soon. I would have liked to have used it for the long weekend. Happy Labor Day everyone.

Hopefully all is ok. I show the order was delivered the day you wrote this post. Let us know if there any issues.
