I bought the Super Nintendo classic ultimate and it’s an Excellent system. It’s the greatest new retro system I’ve ever played. Great value for the price, and excellent customer service. Highly recommended!

Chris, thank you for your business, we appreciate it very much. While we're continuously improving the system, I've put you on the "free update" list, whenever there is a new version, say, more features or new game paks available, we will definitely reach out.

GameGear.net and the R1 (12,874 games)
When I received the product (The R1 with 12,874 games in the NES casing) after a couple weeks from the time I ordered it, it didn't come with the controllers I ordered, USB Hub for multi-player, or even the HDMI cable needed to use it. I was very worried at this point. I contacted Max Fu and he wanted to do everything in his power to make it right. He had the HDMI cable and USB hub shipped to my home at no extra cost. He also gave me a partial refund because of the price difference between the 4 wireless controllers I ordered and the 4 wired controllers I actually received. It took him a little while to respond to my concerns, but he fixed every single mistake the company made. He apologized and asked if there was anything else he could possibly do for me. He even answered my questions about how to get access to certain menus so I could customize my controls and utilize save states.
As for the R1 itself, I am very happy with it! It actually works as advertised. Every single game I wanted to actually play so far is on here. Most of the Famicom and Super Famicom games I tried are fully translated. The most problematic game so far is Goldeneye on N64. I own the physical copy of the game, so I'm not disappointed that it doesn't work, I just know a lot of emulators have trouble running it, so I tried it to see if this one actually could. And it doesn't run well on here either. However, Banjo Kazooie has been working great (aside from some cutscene glitches) and the same is true for Sonic Adventure. I have a couple small issues I could pick at like having to customize Nintendo DS and Openbor controls every time I turn the system on, sometimes I have to turn the system on twice for it to actually turn on, and some games, like Titus the Fox, won't load properly. I tried a lot of different games and spent the weekend I got it just going through games and testing the limits of the system. I'm no expert on frame rates and technical analysis, so there may be things I just didn't notice that need to be mentioned, but almost every game I tried ran well. I had no audio issues either. I haven't tried recording footage yet from my capture card, so I can't show that off yet, but I definitely plan to record some game footage directly from the product.
I also want to reiterate a couple things. This does not play your game cartridges. Also, I have a Super Retro Trio, and some of the physical games I own constantly crash on it. (Battletoads, for example) However, on this, I can quickly load it up from the menu and it runs perfectly fine. It's a great space saver if you enjoy playing a lot of your old collection, but want one compact unit to play it on instead of having all your old consoles creating messes of wires in your entertainment center. It's also nice to take to a friend's house, plug it in, and play some old arcade games together. I absolutely love this. Not only that, but I have a two-year warranty on it, so I know if something goes wrong with it in that time, Max will do what he can to get it running again.
SUMMARY: If you have some very specific games from unpopular systems that you absolutely need to play again, you may be rolling the dice with this product as to whether it meets your expectations. However, if you are like me, and wanted access to thousands of games (I still can't believe I can finally play some of these games) and don't mind if a few from each console aren't running perfectly or that maybe you can't play a couple you hoped you could (Star Fox is not on this by the way) the R1 is amazing. I love it so much and have had it for over a month now. It's a ton of fun. I love that I can play everything from Atari 7800 games I enjoyed as a kid to PS1 games I missed out on.
As for Max Fu and his customer service. He may not respond as quickly as one would hope, but he went above and beyond for me to make sure that I was happy with the purchase. He gave a partial refund when necessary, sent the components I needed, and answered all of my questions about how to access certain things in the emulators themselves. It's not a 100% perfect experience or product, but it is well worth everything I spent on it. This has already, and will continue to, get a lot of use. Also, if you're more tech savvy than me, you could probably build this and compile the roms yourself for cheaper, but if you don't have those skills, all that work is done for you, and paying a little bit extra to have had all of that already taken care of, makes this a great purchase.
Thanks Max! You did a great job addressing my issues and providing both excellent customer service and a product I am thrilled to own.

Jason, I read your review meticulously, word by word, and tears filled in my eyes. I never imagine that a happy (well, it took a little while but eventually) customer will repay me so much.
Neither the product nor our service was perfect. We made some mistakes when shipped the order, the girl was new at that time and although I didn't blame her, she was so sorry (she had left for other reasons).
As for the product itself, R1 has so many emulators & games preloaded, although I have tried my utmost to do the configuration and testing, it's literally impossible for me to run each game and guarantee 100% perfection. The system has iterated for a couple of fo versions and it's getting better and better. The issues on the roadmap, to be addressed are: OpenBor and Nintendo DS controller remap, N64 performance boost, some game compatibility issues (Goldeneye for Nintendo 64, Titus the Fox, Donkey Kong Country II, etc), adding more features like factory reset (just in case kids messed up) and OTA update.
My response time was initially a problem but it's getting much better now. Game Gear is my 3rd startup and I started from scratch. In the beginning, I had to rely on myself and work 70 hours per week. Now I have a team with helping hands. I and my 10-year-old son used to play the classic games (mostly Contra) every weekend but recently I am too busy to do so. You once told me that you play the console with your son and you value his opinion, I said to myself that I'll fix your problem and make sure both of you are happy. IMO, a man who spends time playing games with his son is a real man.
Jason, thank you. I cannot express my gratitude to its full extent. I will keep my word for the warranty and will get back to you soon for the system update.

The system has issues with lag and…
Update:
After months of waiting I've finally gave up. I bought a 16gb snes/nes mega pack. A lot of the games lagged or/and had bad sound. Customer service was working with me on a solution, then one day told me they couldn't process my warranty order because there payment system was down.(yet they can some how still accept payments from new customers) I've been waiting since july for a response, but have heard nothing. So I'm stuck with a mediocre system that has a lot of games that are unbearable to play because of lag
Update: Max has contacted me and is continuing to try and help me resolve the issue
The system has issues with lag and garbled music. It's also randomly freezes mid game and the only way it powers off is by unplugging. Max was working with me on, but stopped responding to my emails for a fix

Very impressed with the quality of my purchase. Really enjoying the NES SNES and Sega Genesis. I got far more than I was originally looking for. Thanks for having these 8 bit and 16 bit "memory" boxes from my child hood.
