Prospective members, especially women with irregular menstrual cycles or perimenopause, should understand how this program actually works. Function markets its membership around tracking changes over time through Annual and Mid-Year testing. However, if your Annual Testing is delayed because you’re following Function’s required hormone-testing timing, your membership clock does not pause or adjust. I disclosed during intake that I have irregular cycles and am perimenopausal. Function knew this before I ever scheduled my labs. I had to reschedule multiple times because my blood draw had to occur on specific days of my cycle, and I live in a rural area with limited approved lab locations. At no point was I warned that these medically appropriate delays could significantly reduce my opportunity to complete the included Mid-Year testing. I completed my Annual Testing, followed Function’s recommendations, made meaningful lifestyle changes, and then learned I could not complete the follow-up testing unless I purchased another annual membership. Function has acknowledged to me in writing that this represents a communication gap for members with irregular cycles, yet still declined to provide the included follow-up testing. When a company sells a program whose primary value is measuring change over time, withholding the second data point fundamentally undermines the purpose of the program. I hope Function changes how this is communicated so other members can make informed decisions before enrolling.

Kind of over priced for what you get. The first blood test was pretty comprehensive, but the second wasn’t any different from your normal annual doctor visit. AI was OK, but putting the results into Chat is way better

They said 160+ biomarkers but tested only 122. app doesn‘t work most of the time. Lab appointment went smooth.

Everything was really good first round. My 2nd annual test actually covered much less then the first one. Everything else was add on. I did purchase sopme add ons and this is the awful part. They didn't get included in my lab appoitment so they were skipped. Now I have to get re poked at a lab. This not only takes time off my work to do but the fact one of my tests is celiac I must eat gluten for 2 weeks. I got really really sick preparing for the last test so now they will not refund me for that because I really do not want to be sick again. I am looking at GoodLabs and Superpower now.

It was just ok. I won’t be doing this route again. Again, not much direction. Results come and have no idea if the range is functional or conventional, no doctor reviews them with the patient.

AI Agent gives out wrong information, Customer Service takes forever to get back to you and you have a different representative responding each time so there is no continuity to the conversation. UX on mobile app is terrible—When booking mid-year test and add-ons, there is no way to differentiate between tests included and what actually needs to be added on, so you can end up spending extra on tests that are already included (or not adding on tests which are not included). Ultimately I am only staying with Function because the initial test is a greater value than you would get by going through insurance, but the customer service and app experience has left much to be desired.

I did my initial labs on April 7 and 9, then I was notified in May that they weren’t able to run all tests. I did a follow up on June 3 then I was notified in July that they still weren’t able to run all tests. I didn’t get my clinician notes until July 15 and one test was still missing! Horrible experience. Also, before signing up for Function, I checked the MRI availability and there was a location in my town. After checking again, the closest one is 96 miles away. Not happy about that and will definitely be choosing a different biomarker/health company next year
