My scheduled appointment (Quest Labs) ran 30 minutes late. Felt like a zoo with so many folks waiting to get testing & blood draws. But other than that would have been "Five-5" stars.

You need to make it easier to send lab results to doctors. What I find is that I show it to them on the app, they get super annoyed by it and then just have me rerun the tests so it goes into MyCHarts. A link right into my charts would be awesome.

Function's base membership is a genuinely good deal compared to similar direct-to-consumer lab companies — a huge panel for the price, and the fact that a mid-year retest is included at all puts it ahead of most competitors. If it stopped there, this would be a 4 or 5-star review. What's dragging it down: 1) The mid-year retest cuts out markers that should be considered baseline standard, not annual-only. Per Function's own "What We Test" page, Lp(a), ApoB, LDL Particle Number, homocysteine, and the full omega panel are only tested once a year. These aren't niche biomarkers — they're markers health professionals broadly agree matter for cardiovascular and metabolic health, and twelve months is a long time to fly blind on inflammation drivers if you're actively working on your health. At minimum, I'd like to see the full omega panel and Vitamin D included in every mid-year retest for all members, not gated to the annual draw. 2) The add-on pricing punishes the behavior you'd want to encourage. I had 13 out-of-range markers from my first draw this year. Retesting just those 13 would have been an add-on cost of $443. However choosing the add-on to re-test literally everything that got tested in the main test was just $309. That's backwards — they are making it cheaper to redo the entire panel than to follow up specifically on just the things that were flagged as out-of-range. I'd love to see something like "up to 10 retests on out-of-range markers included" bundled into membership, or at minimum a real discount for retesting flagged markers instead of a premium. 3) The scheduling flow for add-ons doesn't clearly indicate which tests are already included once a year vs twice vs which are always add-on-only. You have to literally open every single "read more" to find out. It's easy to accidentally pay for something you already have coming, or miss adding something you actually need. And along those lines, some of the 'packaged tests' overlap with individual tests, but they don't warn you about that at all. They just let you pay for the same marker being tested twice in one test. Poor form. 4) Small thing, but it is really annoying: on the mobile app, when reviewing add-on tests there's no "back" button once you hit Next. If you want to go back to see something on a previous screen, you have to abandon the whole scheduling flow and start over. Super frustrating! Bottom line: strong core product, but the retest cost and structure and scheduling UX in the app feel like they were built around getting people to re-buy full panels rather than actually supporting ongoing health tracking.

Expected better analysis/correlation of blood markers using AI. Lacking an added value.

Turnaround time for clinical notes was weeks! Too long. And not useful without the doctor's interpretation. I just hired a new Dr. to read your results!

The response felt very formulaic. It does not seem like I receive a personalized recommendation or analysis.

It’s nice to have all these tests as a baseline, but I think they just utilize AI too much. I found myself to be less confident in their findings and explanations because of that.

I've been using Function Health for over a year now. I renewed in July and quickly regretted that decision. The first year went fine and I really liked the detailed information about my blood markers. But as the second year rolled around and I needed to schedule my blood draw the frustration began. The app said the state I live in now does not allow me to schedule on the app, I need to do it with Live Chat. Not a problem except live chat is not a human, would not work, had not idea what I was talking about and couldn't get me to a human to help. I continued to try but with no success. I had to dig to find a way to email and human that could help and that was not easy. Until they figure out their customer service or AI bot, I'd find another company to use.
