The application isn't good. Scheduling blood work isn't easy. Customer support is mostly an A.I. Agent. And the assessment is a lot of canned information. Function isn't special. Go with lower cost options.

The test is incredibly comprehensive. It’s just TOO EXPENSIVE and not feasible to pay for the average person. This test should be affordable for more people because information for a persons health should be accessible not discriminated against because of affordability.

I am pretty unhappy that I had to ask for clinician's notes a few months after the blood draw. No explanation why they were not sent in a timely way. Also, scheduling was not easy. The website did not recognize my zip code and repeatedly said there were no options within 50 miles. It took a lot of trial and error to find available appointments.

I was impressed, then very frustrated but they have been responsive albeit in a very odd fashion. 1. Their scheduling system is really lacking. I ordered several options. They did not make it clear that these optional tests would not be done on my first visit. The website only talks about retesting at a second point in the year. It was not clear that my optional tests would not be done. 2. The support system is not good. You can't call. You need to find the messenger button to type through a bot. Eventually it says that someone will reply in an email. When you get the email, don't bother replying. You email just gets returned. The bottom of the email had said reply to the email or go back to the website messenger. Despite the lack of phone support and back and forth between the messenger and email, they were responsive in getting the options scheduled. They need to fix their website to improve the scheduling process. 3. Although the clinician report was very good, it needs a quality check. 4. I’ve provided additional private feedback on their website that they said they would add to their list of suggested improvements. I think they should take that suggestion much more urgently. Overall, I would have given 4 - 5 stars but scheduling, support, and other important features are still (surprisingly) missing. I've asked for a call to discuss the issues but it seems like this company really doesn’t want to interact with their clients. And back to two stars, they continue to frustrate me with their scheduling. I'm on my fourth visit and still can't get them to complete the optional tests I've paid for on day one. I tried to work with them repeatedly but have gotten bounced from person to person through the message system and emails. Now they gave me my mid-year visit instead of the grail test I paid for, really? This is awful.

It takes too long to get a final report. It says gene mutation result is in report but there is no report

My results showed that I had a minor infection. It was not great to find out that I can't speak to a doctor at Function and would need to go to urgent care to take the tests again in order to get medicine. Additionally, my personalized summary missed key details from my medical history which invalidated a key portion of the analysis. I follow up and asked for Function to revise my analysis based on my medical history. They said they would be happy to, but didn't actually revise the problem. Was nice to get my AMH level results, but I definitely won't renew with Function.

Access to medical information and lab testing which practitioners would typically resist providing is a great idea. I think Function has had some measure of success and the execution is going downhill. Customer support: - Can no longer call, only email - AI chat is very poor. - Attempting to rebook labs through AI chat is a very poor experience. The booking thought process should be 'time frame + near the customer'. Instead it is fixated on a 'date', but labs are very booked up, and starting with a single date will equate to far away labs and bad times. Most Function tests are fasting, which also conceptually works against a 'date based' booking thought proces - Function has overwhelmed there dashboard with bells and whistles making it difficult to use - Information collection is overdone and overly personal, into minute personality and psychological questions. It's unclear what happens to this data if Function goes bankrupt or is acquired. It's unclear what questions are truly required to get lab results vs optional. One cannot answer some questions and skip others its all or nothing - I showed up to the lab and it was closed. Function does not have a good enough 'sync' with labs to be made aware of closures. Worst of all: - The actual test results are displayed in an incredibly poor way, in that no ranges or context is displayed. So you will see a result such as "heart 1", an organ or metric and then a number. But the range, scale, etc is not displayed. So one has no idea if a "1" is good or bad, healthy or unhealthy, is it 1 out of 10, and so forth. You do have clinician notes to look at which will call out specific major issues, however there is no way to get any value whatsoever from the actual lab results because the range is not displayed. This seems like an elementary school level communication concept that is being missed. For example, trust pilot has a star rating, and indicates it's out of five stars, and more stars is good, less is better. If instead it was just "2" we'd have no idea if thats a good or bad rating. - It's terrible to get worse result communication than a lab themselves would provide. When Ive had labs done, they always provide a range, and often if low or high is good/bad. Function abstracts all that so there is no way to get any insight from any of their results. The primary value of Function is if the clinician notes call out a problem. This is sad, as Function throws away all its opportunity and value proposition through basic elementary level science communication mistakes. I used Function Health for two years. It was fine for the price although I could have used my own AI to review my tests. What was really irritating is that when I moved and changed email addresses I apparently missed my November, 2025 annual payment and when I went to reinstate my account in February, 2026 they had already deleted my account and I have no access to my records and cannot reinstate my account.
